On a separate note, I agree with everyone, the 2-D was much better. I would have rather had this one in 2-D to match the other movies, but perhaps the change in animation was due to a change in movie crew. I also notice differences in the animated series, especially Rita's eyes, but it can't be helped, it's already been done. Both the series and the third movie are fun to watch, though.

It's not so much the cuteness that's lacking as it is the sense of texture and imperfection I find. The 2-D characters had asymmetric patterns on their bodies, their outlines broke and shifted when they moved and they conveyed like they were actually fur covered animals. The 3-D versions, however, look too smooth and...well, perfect, kind of like they're made out of plastic.

they don't lookm cute anymore people want cuteness not ugly 3D but w/e everything has to be in 3D these days and most of them never are as good as they could have been in 3D. It's just so animators can skip corners, it's faster and cheeper with less room for errors....but it's not the same as 2D
