Hey I think they could use another redhead on the show! What do you think? Would you vote for me? :) On the casting call contest search Jamie Baker- Los Angeles
@mi6tynd nobody watching this video is likely to care what you think. Watch the clip of Don Draper pitching to Kodak and tell us this show is "drivel".
Make this girl's dreams come true! Vote for me and I could win a walk on role on Mad Men!! You can vote everyday until Sept 17th! I'd really, really appreciate it.
What do you mean "used to"? The term is still used, and women like Christina Hendricks have ensured the term has never become passe. Stacked indeed! :)
The reason given at the time was that it was immoral but it is actually a very moral book. It argues that sex is something that should happen with real emotion. This is someting that may or may not happen within marriage. The main charcters are both married but they find their true spirtual union with each other. Their partners are symbolic of extremes of the wrong way to do things her husband of neglecting the physical & his wife neglecting the sprirtual.
More faulty facts from the awful writers of this "show about cliches" and it's fans: the ban on LCL was lifted in 1959. This show takes place in 1963.
This episode takes place in 1960, and i think the secrecy was due more to the fact that the girls had such a controversial, sexual book at work rather than it presently being banned (hence "why it *got* banned", rather than "why it's banned")

Women can definitely tell which men have read this book; and who has not,
because, information found in the story is more "educational"- than is the plot
This is why well educated men are usually far better lovers, and most blacks are not,
because a great recipe takes interest and education, rather just knowing how to stir the pot

POssibly the most over-rated, pretentious, pseudo-intellectual shows I"ve ever seen.
Predictable, poorly-written, trite, downright embarrassing to watch.
It's really speaks volumes for how dumbed-down things have become when drivel like this is supposedly "critically-acclaimed".
But all of these HBO and Showtime shows are like this. And network prime time TV is no better.
AWFUL.

Isn't this a quaint scene: women (or anyone) in the workplace discussing a "scandalous" novel. It would never happen these days
