  • LA VERITÀ .

  • None shall sleep! None shall sleep! Even you, O Princess, in your cold bedroom, watch the stars.that tremble with love and with hope! But my secret is hidden within me; none will know my name! No, no! On your mouth I will say it when the light shines! And my kiss will dissolve the silence that makes you mine! No one will know his name.and we will have to, alas, die, die! Calaf, now certain of victory, sings: Vanish, o night! Set, stars! Set, stars! At dawn, I will win! I will win! I will win!

  • Not very good. Sorry.

  • The MOST Beautiful thing I have EVER heard. brings tears to my eyes each time i listen to it

  • voce fuori ruolo.

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • A young spinto from age 26-27.

What a treat to hear a FRESH voice of this master!

  • omy god

  • I had this Cd years ago. I remember it said he went to the studio right after doing an opera since his voice was well warm, and the date is correct it is 1968. This Cd is still available and has the information and date right on it.

  • on the picture has a little richard gere look a like isnt?...hahaha

  • Top notes are not what make a singer great. There have been plenty of singers with nice top notes that did not make it big because they were not good singers. This is not Domingo's best recording of this aria. I have posted one from 1975 live where he is all over it. He had consistent high notes, but not brilliant high notes like say a Corelli or Bjoerling.

  • ok, ok i believe you.... thats ok... ey men you are listen a rata blanca? is a group from argentina very good... listen capricho arabe- preludio obsesivo live in 1995... ok? and i believe, dont worry.... i liked very much the opera... domingo, carreras, pavarotti, bocelli, all the music... dont worry men!

  • I don´t believe... 1968? Is a fake men!

  • @lacromozart No, the date isn't a fake. It's from Domingo's first studio sessions, conducted by Nello Santi. If you look around youtube, there's also a Cielo e mar and a La dolcissima effigie recorded during the same sessions.

  • TIRATISSIMO in acuto, al limite.

  • Pavarotti is much better

  • I love Placido!!!

  • Domingo is very young at this point, probably still making his transition from Baritone to Tenor. Kudos to him!

  • @DTGeek155 To the contrary: he had been singing exclusively tenor for a good 8 years at least when he made this recording - and he had sung a good many leading roles in Tel Aviv and at the New York City Opera. 1968 was the year in which he made his Met debut (in October), as Maurizio de Saxe in Cilea's ADRIANA LECOUVREUR.

  • @DTGeek155 the transition from baritone to tenor was nearly 10 years before, when he was ~ 18

  • @DTGeek155 he is still trying to do that. :|

  • @gdawg116 where's the squillante?

  • negli anni 60 -Calaf =Nikola Nikolov !!!!

  • grande placido sei grande

  • Excelente grabación. Te felicito por poner este material.

  • Is this really from 1968? Wow. I've never heard it before. Thanks for posting.

  • Very young for this aria in this moment...

  • I have perfect pitch, and it sounded rather nice to me [timbre too]

  • Always trying to bring them down right?

well, there is an old saying that you should practice...

Just for you to think before making all this kind of comments, Thanks

  • I didn´t like the A-natural either!

  • @Bjoerrelli lol, what is it with you? Do you search out every Domingo video on Youtube just to critizise him? If you don't like his singing, then stop listening to it.

  • @SFT24 I don´t hate Domingo he is just overated singingwise. He is not a bad singer his upper register just ain´t among the hundred best tenors in the 20th century.

  • @Bjoerrelli honestly, this comment it bollocks. sorry, it is. :(

  • @Bjoerrelli fortunately all the greatest conductors and impresarios in the world disagree with you

  • @jd7x7jd What about other tenors? Do you think singers have no clue what great singing is about? I know that Domingo conducts and plays piano and perhaps some other instruments as well but I want to feel that a voice has no boundaries even if every voice has, but the illusion is important to me! Domingo never gets me spellbound like Pertile, Tucker, Del Monaco, Vickers, Corelli, Filippeschi or even Merli. I choose those voices because they are just as or even more dramatic then Placido Domingo.

  • @Bjoerrelli sorry, meant to downvote ;D

  • marokt....actually the B on this recording

sounds better than later ones where he

    sounds forced and squeezed.
