I guess I was too excited at that moment, and spoke too fast. It ran pretty well on isolated areas, when I tested it I was at the cw bank (but not on a cw server) so there weren't many players out there, and it was really smooth (with max vid settings, on the windows AA1)

But I wouldn't recommend max vid settings on a daily basis, cuz it tends to get laggier over time (even if you stay at isolated areas)

Well, I would say its enough just to avoid opening it. Or the closest alternative would be to break the link (but that would only affect you, cuz the program would be still there)

So that brings me to the question, how come is firefox interfering with your game? Or how would it help if firefox wasn't installed on your comp?

Its when i go to play on moparscape. and I asked a guy and he said it was because i have firefox turned on. any idea how to help?

Do you play moparscape from a third party program? or from a webpage like RS?

If you need a program to run it, then it might not work under linux cuz most programs are designed for windows. Unless moparscape has designed a program specifically for linux.

If you play from a website then you need firefox to open it, unless you got any other web browser.

So let me know more about it.... and I might b able to help.

all right, i ran into another problem. it loads everything except the world list data, and it sends me to another screen saying it cannot connect. i have tried this on the same network on my vista computer, so it cannot be the network. it might be a firewall, the forwarded url told me, but i cannot access any firewall functions. any help?

Hmm, now thats a weird problem.

First, as far as I'm concerned the AA1 doesn't come up with an outbound firewall, so that can't be the problem

Also, I've monitored the rs connection, and it seems the world list is sent by the same server from which you load RS. So if it has already loaded almost everything, it shouldn't fail with the world list.

So my quick guess is that it was a temporary problem. So try loading rs again

If it keeps failing, let me know, n we might try something different.

all right. i found what it was. after i installed sunjava for the firefox AAO's come with, i updated firefox to 3.0.

a very big thank you. my boys can now play runescape on their aspire one. do u know anything about downloading music from a usb stick, (which i'm trying to do) but it tells me something about codecs!!!!!!!!!!!!

:) I'm glad to hear that. Btw, it doesn´t matter that your music is stored in a USB stick, its just that the default player can´t decode it. So your best option would be to install the VLC player. It supports a broader array of codecs, and works way smoother.

As youtube doesn´t allow me to post links here, just google for "vlc player aspire one" and you should find a guide on installing it within the first results.

I'm making a little animation to make it even more clear, but it might take a couple of days until I upload it.

You should try out the current guide, its fairly easy. You just have to download the file, then run it through the terminal. The guide seems to be long, but its just because it has many pictures.

YES! RuneScape runs out of the box on the Windows one, you don't have to install or do anything special to get it running. And RuneScape runs smoothly...

I just have a few questions:

1) Are you trying to play on the AA1?

2) Have you installed any other programs?

3) Can you play RuneScape from any other computer with the same internet connection?

4) Are you sharing your internet connection via a router (for example, you have a wireless hotspot)?

5) Does your ISP or country impose any internet restrictions?

I forgot to ask (as almost every1 else has asked about the Linux 1), are u using the Windows version?

If you are using a Windows AA1, then its McAfee's fault (that annoying antivirus) it doesn't tell ya about the blocked programs, and its working as a firewall too. So just to give it a shot, try deactivating it for a while, then open RS. (if you get past the loading world list, then you'll just have to add an exception)

If u r using the linux 1, then let me know and we'll try something else

RuneScape was unable to communicate with the game server to download the world list. This is most likely caused by a firewall blocking the connection.

2) Did it run? (it shows a lot of text while running)

3) Did it halt? Got stuck on a download?

4) Did you get the message "Reboot your computer..."?

5) Did you reboot your AA1?

6) Had you tried other guides b4? prolly macles ones?

If you could offer any other details that would be helpful

Sry every1, I was on a trip and just got back today.

If you got an AA1 with linux, you might have noticed RS doesn't run right out of the box. Its because you need to update JAVA. I posted a link to a brief guide on updating JAVA on the AA1, you can find it on this video description. You can also update firefox, but this is optional (it's not needed for RS to run, but its always advisable to run with an up-to date version of any browser)

if you get the Linux one, you will have to update java, and might not b able to play in HD

if you get the Windows one, you can play RS right out of the box, even HD!

it should b working, but if not just

1) Visit the adobe website

2) Look for "get flash player"

3) Choose the .rpm package and download it

4) When it finished downloading, close firefox

5) Run the .rpm and write ur pw if prompted
