I would change to a new midwife for your next baby...Moms know the best position to give birth in, it's tapered to their body type. the midwife should have been supportive of what position you wanted to give birth in. Hands and knees is a very good position, and she should have let you. You might have had an easier labor.

@filochick To answere your questions, 1) I liked being in the water but i didnt feel i could get in a comfortable position. I was wanting to stretch al the way out and just float around, lie in a normal sized pool. But yes i did love the water, it was such a warm comforting thing! At the end of labor my contractions werent as painful, at least thats how i remember them now. 2) Pushing felt really good really really good, like taking the most satisfying poop in your life...

And although she was in a posterior position i didnt have back labor! Andi think my reactions seem a little exaggerated compared to how i was feeling! The birthing stool was a bit uncomfortable at the end because its wood but it was a great position to push in, my hands were bruised from holding on so hard!
