  • I absolutely cannot stop watching this video. It's amazing.

My personal favorite moments are at 2:20 and from 4:32-5:30

  • Very beautiful playing.

  • 遠い国から、応援して下さった皆様に感謝いたします。“心”を受け取りました。どうもありがとうございました。

  • it sounds like the donkey kong theme song slowed down.

  • ...So happy I play trombone...

  • shit man, that Japanese quartet made me cry, this is beautiful

  • トロンボーンアンサンブル、いいな

  • 有り難うございます!

  • What version was the Mnozil brass playing in the video? It wasn't the one on the website....

  • @tubadude07 A changeup of the regular quartet version I think. i don't think it's written down anywhere--I think in the beginning they just took one of the parts 8va and then, after that, had some ornaments in the 4th tbone part. I think the rest is the same.

@IowaEuph Berlin phil players: genius musicians

  • el minuto 5 es una bastada!

  • Mnozil Brass is so good

  • Comment removed

  • @tubadude07 it was written as a result...

  • Arigatou gozaimasu

  • 2:36 Everything about this moment in the music is perfect. The slight space they put between those two notes, the chord there, and the beautiful ring of the hall are absolutely amazing!

  • bravo à tous ....le trombone est beau et cette cause est très belle: un accord parfait!

  • very very beautiful !!

    Thank you so much !

    美しい音楽をありがとうございます。

    From Japan.

  • I love this song, playing it is even more fun! Talking about the shivers up your back, everytime!

  • I'll play this music for JSDF soldiers and earthquake victims.

  • THANK YOU ALL FOR 100,000 VISITS! FOR UPLOADING MANY OTHER VIDEOS FOR JAPAN AS WELL!!

  • I never thought a trombone melody could make me weep. So beautiful, like

    the Japanese people.

  • Thank you for this movie. I can't stop my tears are falling down still after the play now.

This is the great project all over the world, and we Japanese thank you again for all trombonists in this movie and all musicians who pray for Japan.

I play trumpet, and I'm teaching children of brass band in a primary school,so I'll make a chance to see this wonderful movie with the children. And consider with them what we can do now, again.

Thank you very much, and the God bless you!

  • it was necessarily the best thing the great US of A could do.... it has some positives

  • Won't forget: the first I heard of Japan's earthquake was just as I was walking out after band practice.

  • 5 people are string players

  • Berlin Phil section sound sick

  • Those five people have no heart!

  • ¿quienes son los incultos que votan negativo?

    no lo entiendo...

  • 日本のトロンボーン吹きの大学生としてお礼をいわせていただきます。本当に本当にありがとう。トロンボーンすばらしい、音楽ってすばらしい。

I say thank you as one Japanese college student playing trombone in wind orchestra! Really really thank you. Trombone is wonderful, music is wonderful.

  • christian lindberg is indeed a virtuoso. His playing is unique and nice.

  • I'm only slightly disappointed in one thing with this whole 'program'. In the special version score (that is a mock up of this video) The ITA parts in the score are not what ITA actually played in the video, and it's incredibly easy to tell the difference because of the harmony in the running notes and in the bass bone lines. I don't really know why it's like that...maybe ITA didn't want others playing their variation of this piece? I don't know. But otherwise, I love this whole thing!

  • @NickLukefahr The parts that the ITE actually played was actually in the other folder in the ZIP.

  • Omg the second guy goes to school in my city!!

  • Awesome SONG.

    my favorite parts:

2:20 great duet. lots of expression put into it. got to be the best part of the song.

3:10 that bass trombone sounds like a tuba. what a beast.

4:59 that 1st trombone totally killed his part. props. and this group knows what's up.

7:00 chords sucked the life out of me.

i just don't get one part. in 4:07 and 5:33. it sounds like they both messed up, but it looks intentional. can anyone explain?

otherwise. go trombones and go japan.

  • @blo1230 in part of Mnozil Brass , that's really a tuba, not bass trombone.

  • @BrianHanz I believe that ensemble uses trumpets, trombones and a tuba. That part of the song, only the trombones and the tuba are playing (according to the Mnozil Brass score version).

  • @blo1230 I think those moments at 4:07 and 5:33 were the players putting some of there own style into it... I think.

This is just just a guess

  • @blo1230 In the solo parts of the opening/main theme, there is written in the music what is commonly called a grace note (a type of music ornament), an extra note(s), (played quickly either in rhythm or not) that comes before the "main " note. It is used to color or embeillish the music (as an "ornament" on a Christmas tree). You can leave it out and it sounds fine; Proper use of it ehnances the melody. So it is intentional, written by the composer. Look up "musical ornaments" for more info.

  • awesome...

  • If you dumbs down on this, you have no sole!!! Go Japan AND go trombones!

  • I was listening in bed, and I almost had an orgasm at the chord at 7:00. My thingy whiggled and I felt contractions down there. Not kidding.

  • @Maereandil Good to know O_x

  • I love this song SO much! My friends and I are learning it right now :)

  • This is one of the most beautiful songs that I have ever heard.

  • thanks.Their music makes me reassuring.( From JAPAN

  • I almost burst into tears of joy from hearing the last few chords and the picture of that baby at 7:04.

  • what version are they playing at 2:20???

  • @wPHao Its a special version, but it's pretty much the 1st and bass parts of the quartet version from about letter C i think

  • @wPHao you can find this part in the Quartet Version. the First Trombone and Bass Trombone.

  • @blo1230 Thanks. i havnt checked the site in a while so i didnt know that it was updated.

  • I was moved! Thank you!

  • @MrCanadianKid25, I'm a trumpet player and LOVING this song.

  • Megumi sounds fantastic! (they all do).

  • Bravo!

  • Check website and make your own video!

  • It is a splendid performance. I thank you very much.

    From Japan.

  • I CANNOT get over those Gewandhaus players, oh my GOD... they are, of course, playing the most climactic part of the piece, and in a fantastic hall, but nonetheless their sound is so rich... jesus, it's amazing. Obviously, the piece itself is amazing as well. Very beautiful.

  • Superb composition for trombones by Steven Verheist; he knows how to write for them to get the best out of the beautiful timbre of the instrument in solo or as a choir. Deeply moving, and a tribute to the tenacity of the Japanese People.

  • Anyone know where to get the choir arrangement, my trombone choir would love to play it.

  • Brass Quintet arrangement, LET'S GO.

  • Simply amazing!

  • I just can't stop to hit the repeat button!!

  • after the WONDERFUL performance of Joseph Alessi & Co at 5:00 Jörgen van Rijen and his Compagnos sound like a big Organ!! GREAT!!

  • Fantástico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wow!!!

  • thanks their pray and play

    from japan

  • ...translation:

    Absolutely wonderful!

The pity is that they only appeared / guests musicians of the best known

orchestras in the world ... but in Portugal as in other countries

forgotten, there are also excellent trombonists who were not heard. And in this video appear several musicians from the same country, as The Netherlands! "

I'm sad because Portugal is usually solidarity with all over the world!

  • @hduque68 This video is also meant as an inspiration to other players to record their own song for Japan. Please unite some Portuguese trombonists and record a video! That's why the music is available in all sorts of settings. Eventhough we would like to but it was impossible to include really all the trombonists around the world...

  • @hduque68 Not quite 'the guest nusicians of the best known orchestras of the World' for if you look to your RIGHT index on youtube next to this video -you will find a lot more videos with no famous trombonists on it! Try the 83 Japanese children and others playing the 'A Song for Japan' it is great!!!

  • Hey, man! I miss seeing my old buddies from Chicago: Jay, Jim, Michael, and Charlie. But, if they (or others) were included, who you cut?

I love *all* of the Dutch contributions, Bart, Ben, and Jörgen's Concertgebouw section is just *fantastic!* And, the two youngsters from the Berlin Phil: Wow! And, the Mnozil guys! EVERYBODY!

I am SURE that there are wonderful musicians in Portugal that no one has ever heard of. It's the same situation elsewhere.

    Bravo, Steve!

  • @hduque68 they are the biggest names to attract the most people

  • i felt shivers on my back when i was listening this piece ;]

  • Really loved listening to the trombone sections of two of the best orchestras in the world!

  • What could our world be like if the leaders of governments were musicians and interested in harmony?

When people of the world come together like this, you can hear God's voice...

  • A great song for a very great work. Healing Japan, healing the people there with the music, this song is best for it, i suppose!

  • This made me cry!

    Beautiful!!!

  • Really uplifting and moving. Thank you.

  • beautiful

  • @BBPWN1 - Or brass ensemble. Would be lovely.

  • Rất xúc động !!

  • Very good composition by Steven Verhelst and the recording quality is superb. I never knew trombones could sound so powerful all alone.....

  • Very nice video, despite being related to a tragedy. Force Japan!!

  • 2:36 - gave me chills

  • This is amazing! who is the composer

  • i want this for trumpet =\ or trumpet, trombone mixture, that would be amazing. you would get a huge contrast if notes between them both

  • IMPRESSIONANT

  • ....and people say that the trombone is such an "un-cool" instrument....! On the contrary - it is downright SEXY! What beautiful harmonies and moving melodic line! I too am proud to have been a trombonist for the past 45 years....

  • Incredible, I love this and I love the concept. I'm going to play this as soon as possible and raise funds for the appeal!

  • I want minus-one sound sources, duo and trio etc.

  • I downloaded the sheet music and hope to perform this for our summer concert. We have a band member who was personally affected by the earthquake, so this will be a nice way to show her we support her and her family in Japan. Ganbarimasu!
