Dr. Offit shares the patent on the Rotavirus vaccine in development by Merck and lists a $350,000 grant from Merck for Rotavirus vaccine development. Also, he lists that he is a consultant to Merck

Yea, most people don't realize universities don't teach shit, once you exit university and hit the real world, you actually have to go back and unlearn what filth they taught you if you want to evolve. Dr. Wakefield's work has been reproduced in 5 countries including Harvard. CDC and AAP never try to explain why most of the Autistic kids have bowel disorders. Dr. W has proven if the gut symptoms are treated the Autistic behaviors subside. The same way alcohol affects the brian, autistic kids have trouble w/ processing glutens and dairy. Dr. W stated until we have done more studies on the mmr, medicine should be on the side of safety by breaking up the mmr. Seems reasonable. DO NO HARM?

Another important fact that was not brought up is that nobody would fund the research to prove vaccines cause Autism. Parents with autistic children have to use all the money to provide therapy for their kids, CDC would have a conflict of interest too.

I so agree that they should have interviewed more parentsmaybe a couple of those hundreds of parents who saytheir child's Autim was vaccine induced and can explain why they believe it. Why is it not reported that Dr. Offit holds a patent on the rotavirus vaccine .and receives grant money from Merck{pharm co.} to develop this vaccine. He reports that he is paid by the pharmaceutical industry to travel the countryand teach Drs. that vaccines are safe. He sits on the CDC's advisory board and voted on3rotavirus issues including making recommendation of adding this vaccine to the vaccines fo childrens program. Is this not a HUGE conflict of intrests?

I am disappointed in the post interview comments by Matt Lauer. He sounds biased against the theory that vaccines may be linked to autism. The fact is, many of the studies that allegedly prove that there is absolutely no link are tragically flawed. Dr. Healey is right. Those whose opinions are unpopular need to be heard as well....and the studies done by the ivory tower organizations need to be critiqued just as harshly as Dr. Wakefield.

I thought it was odd that he mentions how many parents so strongly believe in Dr W but doesn't see fit to include any of them in his program. Does suggest a bias most definitely. Like so many people he is unwilling to listen to all sides of the story and actually form an independent opinion.

There is no evidence that vaccines cause autism, though numerous studies were done. Epidemiological studies alone can demonstrate the safety and importance of vaccines. Wakefield is not a virologist, he was a gastroenterologist. His work has been completely discredited. When two things happen at the same time, like a vaccination and symptoms of autism, but the two things are unrelated, it's a coincidence. My son is autistic, so I have a stake in this. Stop wasting time on this theory.

If Mr Lauer had seen fit to interview the many many parents whose children have had this reaction to vaccines, he and you may indeed have a different opinion. True your child's autism may not have been caused by vaccines, but I firmly believe mine was and my opinion is no less valid than yours. Why is it a waste of time to investigate any and every possible danger to our children?

Exactly, back in the fifties we still believed smoking was actually good for us and it now turns out the manufacturers knew even then that it was harmful but decided to keep that info to themselves for financial gain over public welfare. What's the difference? It may take another ten years but I truly believe one day we are going to look back and say Andrew Wakefield was a true hero and we shd have listened.
