@KR3AT0RAS It does since grip is involved. It is more obvious when you try with really big weights. And with really big weights your forearm has no option but to get stronger AND develop in size.notice strongmens'/powerlifters forearm size:strong AND huge, although they don't do exercises fror forearm development. To a smaller degree same goes for plumbers, farmen, machinists, construction builders etc.
A weak/wrist/fingers/forearm really limits the weight you can lift when doing deadlifts.
@tolaros2 I meant that you are training back in the back day and you train of course forearms in the forearms day(along with biceps, that s what i do).when you are training back you need to focus on the back and use as much weight to overload the muscle using straps to support your grip.YOU TRAINING BACK NOT FOREARMS...YOU ARE A BODYBUILDERS NOT A POWERLIFTER!:)......elinas eisai kai grafw tosh wra sa mlkas sta aglika :P?

Which muscle is going to be stronger - Forearms or BACK?!. Limiting your largest muscles development for some odd ego - problem to do with grip is quite funny really.
listen doug, i hope you don't take most of these " internet warriors" comments seriously, your one strong fuckin dude an a natty too thats super impressive man, cheers
I don't know how to edit, but if you look at his form from the 405xeleventybillion vs. the 605 & 585x3 lifts, his back is straight in the 405s and curved in the heavier ones. He starts hips kinda high in all of them, but that's just his style from what I can gather.
acutually, yakamatsu is correct, his form there was "bad." his hips were too high when he started and used more of his back than his legs. I did the same thing when I had a lot of weight, you have to really concentrate to keep a good form. When the weight is that heavy, you don't have that much margin of error as you do when the weight is lighter.
Hi Doug, let me ask you something, do you ever get this feeling of a headache after an intense set of deadlifts? I felt that today, almost like I was going to die or something. I feel better now. I must admit though, I pushed myself to the limit, screaming loud at the last 2 reps
Dorian yates used straps. ronnie coleman used straps, jay cutler uses straps... interesting, I don't see any problem in their forearm development. Even more interesting, they are some of the greatest bodybuilders in the world. The reason for straps is to allow your body to hold onto the weight for longer so that the target muscle gets fatigued instead of stopping short because of grip. They're not powerlifters, they're bodybuilders, its more important to hit the muscle than to hold some weight.
Valid point, but when speaking of the "forearm development" of Ronnie, Jay, Dorian, etc, you neglected to mention: 1) the quality and quantity of the drugs they are taking and 2) that they are already have superior genetics pre-steroid use. Hmmm... maybe its just me but I think that may have something to do with their forearm development, not the use of straps. Your hands have a huge strength potential, so I am going to have to agree with msd133. If you can't hold the weight with out em, to bad.
you can get big forearms without gripping 605lbs. Your hands do have potential to be incredibly strong but it's not about being as strong as possible, it's about gaining muscle in the target area. If this was a powerlifting video, I'd say that not that impressive because straps do take away from the grip, but it's bodybuilding
I'm gonna have to say using straps don't make you less of a man. I can admit that jay cutler and dorian yates could never do what some of the top powerlifters do, but it's apples and oranges.
It's pretty much a moot point, like you said apples and oranges. IMO completely raw lifts are the best, if you ever find yourself in a situation where you need to lift something, say in a survival situation ( no matter how rare the occurence) you don't have access to straps, a belt or wraps. Use what you were born with, imo.
What a beautiful echo from the plates haha
