Directv and Dish only offer the price for 1 year and after that the promo price goes up by 20 bucks. At least with Dish though, you pay what the current price is now instead of paying for the new price the 2nd year.
I had Directv and just got rid of them. Directv's customer service is horrible. I just got Dish a few days ago and love Dish's customer service they seem more willing to help you out with a problem.
@88pistonsfan Really, that wasn't my experience at all. They did everything in their power to piss me off. I finally had to call the head of the company in Colorado to get them to stop billing me for service they weren't even providing. Dish tv simply isn;t worth the hassle.

This is how they treat loyal customers after 5 years. I cancelled b/c they could only offer a $5 -6 month discount vs a new acct for $30 less a month for a year. Nice. Slap in the face. Fuk them.
I canceled my account one year ago, today I found out they charged me for a full year... when I called them.. they admitted it was canceled but wouldn't refund my money... they're jokes.
I found their HQ number, called them and talked with a executive... let's just say the threat of a lawyer caved them into giving me EVERY cent back... still a POS company either way.
