Alienware computers are so expensive cause they put such ridiculous amounts of ram in them, everything else though is pretty standard for a gaming platform. Ram is important for sure, but you don't need a whole lot to be effective.
The first 128-bit game was released in 2003. Once you play it twice and watch the entire game change before your very eyes, you realize that the area of the game that you play is of more than 3 dimensions! Not to mention the almost lifelike graphics!
i just purchased this card (8500Gt 512mb, it will be arriving soon. Im wondering if i will be able to play games like call of duty 4 and doom 3 with this performance and resolution.
The rest of my system is pentium 4 2.6Ghz and 1.25Gb RAM
maxishine will show you what video card will do great. So far Quad SLi has now officially whipped Crysis, running incredibly fast with very high settings on everything. But i think you could run it fine with pretty good graphics with just SLi. Ive got his video in my profile.
yeah me too, at first, i wasnt expecting that the graphics would be like this (because it is affordable card), ive set my setings on medium first, and then i try to put it on all high settings to see if how will it lag... but then, im surprised it didnt lag at all! i was so impressed by the performance!
Nice video dude. I recently built a cheap system (less than $400) and I put in a gigabyte 8500gt with 256 MB. No I can't run Dx10 games at the highest settings, but at least I have a stable Vista system than CAN run DX10 games like Crysis, Bioshock, and Gears of War. And I don't have the driver/bios/overheating issues that the 8800 cars owners have!
8800 cards dont over heat if you know what you are doin yes they run warmer cus there oviously working harder but cases need good vent fans and you got to run the fan at right speeds lolbut 8500 are still pretty good cheap cards i just wanted to get the best card i could afford which is the 8800 gts SSC 640 mb not ultra but still kick ass
I just got this card when my x1600 fried I find it to be a bit better but not too noticeable. It also have problems where it does not have anything lower then my monitor's widescreen native res. of 1440x900 when I play games. I usually play at 1200x800.
The 8500 is not a good card, the only DX10 card worth getting are the 8800 series, if your going to get that 8600 or the 8500 you should settle with a DX9 card, because at the same price range where u can get this card, you will beable to get a faster DX9 card.
zombie112 got a point, but if you only have a mid ranged budget and you want to buy a vidcard not as expensive as 88xx and not as low specs as 6xxx, this card is the one i recommend, its not too expensive, and i have no problems w/ fps, but no one can beat the 88xx vidcards!
Yeah I've recently gotten an 8800GTS 320MB for $252 after rebates, best card I've ever gotten. This is going from a Radeon 9200, to a GeForce 6600LE, to Radeon X800, to 8800. Giant speed increases. Anyway, yeah, 8500 is good for mid-low ranged. 8600GTS though would probably be the best bet for mid ranged though.
well, if i have that kind of money, i'd go for 8800 ones like the one you've got, but for now, ive spent all my budget for a set of PC, so id stick for a mid ranged vidcard for now, but believe me, one of these days, i'll grab myself an insane one.
If you want to play the latest games, AT LEAST go with a GeForce 7800GTX. If you want to be set for a little while, go with one of the 8600GTS or 8800GTS.
for me.. YES!!! i have geforce 5500 FX 256mb 128bit vidcard it worked fine on medium settings but if you activate aa, shadows and effects on high settings, the frame rate will suffer horribly, or most likely you can't play at all due to poor performance, but with 512mb vidcard you will feel your money is worth buying.. it is twice the price, but infinite good time!
do not listen to him, the video card wont even use all of that 512 memory because it is bottlenecked by it's 128-bit memory interface. go with the 256, especially if it is GDDR3
bro japan1films, can you please upload a video sample of games on 8600 GT! so we can compare it with other vid cards, and if you do so, please notify me like give me a message or something, THANKS!
like i said, NO ONE CAN BEAT the performance of 88xx vid cards, but in price tags, 88xx is way too expensive, i've tried 7xxx vid cards too and believe me, there's a difference in performance, im not asking you to buy this card, im RECOMMENDING IT cause it causes me no trouble and i'm so very satisfied to it.
yeah bro, crysis wont be great to this card, for now, the 8800GT can handle that insane game, thats why im not planning to buy that game, i'll wait until i have 8800 or higher
1024x768, only aoe3 have aa on this vid, i forgot to activate it on other games, but i'll upload vids w/ aa on it later, but w/ or w/o aa, these games will run smoothly.
What resolution are you playing at?
