  • AVOCADO!!! Hahaha I love the way he says it. I fell off the couch laughing when I first heard it. LMAO!!!

  • Anyone know the what episode this is? I want to watch it. Thx

  • does anybody know where i can watch this battle?...i cant seen to find it anywhere

  • I knew going in that strategy was key. You're dealing with unrefined American pallets. Rob Feenie won because he had the right ingredient and a Japanese opponent. American judges would pick him every time. Michael Smith challenged himself and ran up against judges who simply don't understand real food. America, I love you, you gave the world Ron Paul. But culinarily, you make no sense to me. For politics, you used to rule. For food, I'll look to Canada or Europe.

  • Did Michael win? I hope he won....

  • Yes, we've never seen an avocado up here in Canada. They freeze when we take them out of the refrigerator to use them.

    You're an idiot.

As for arrogance, have you ever met the man? I have, 3 times. He is probably one of the most approachable people I've ever talked to.

  • Your response prompted a good chuckle. You imply that an opinion concerning a public figure is incorrect since the observer never "met the man" yet you call a person (whom you never met) an "idiot" for making the observation.

By the way, although avocados are available "up here in Canada" they aren't as common as in the U.S south west. I would be willing to bet if you showed one to the average shopper in Sobeys the "I don't knows" would win. Then again, how many Texans have tasted ketchup chips?

  • The idiot comment was uncalled for. Knee jerk response to a comment. When I think of arrogant people (celebrities in particular), I think of Bono-esque behaviour where the world is entitled you "your" CORRECT opinion.

  • As far as the availability of avocados north of the border goes, they are widely available in all but the smallest towns and even then products like pre-made guacamole are still common in supermarkets and restaurants.

  • I'd take the Sobeys bet. For example: My wife's parents are from a small (less than 900 people) town in central Alberta and they commonly use avocados. I lived all over Canada in the past twenty years and I don't think I have met one adult who is unaware of the avocado, although some older folks still call them "crocodile pears"

  • PS: I hate the 500 character limit on responses.

  • @sirslice Huh. Do avocados have their own aisle in the US southwest?

  • kind of reminds me of when my cousin came from the states and we had fries and i think burgars. he couldnt imagine having gravy and dressing on french fries and thought just the idea of it was disgusting.

all about where you live i guess. avocados are like the gravy and dressing to us newfoundlanders. im sure you wont find an avocado easily here in nfld

  • @JDGWry no no no , see, hes got it all wrong. The avacados freeze when we take them out of our igloo ice box you see....thats the real canadian north

  • Smith doesnt have arrogance.

If you want arrogance go speak to some of the iron chefs. I can guarentee you that Bobby Flay isnt the best at what he does in America. The best probably decided that working was much more important than some cooking competition, its why you dont see ramsey or anthony bourdain on iron chef.

Flay won against the japanese iron chef who had 20 years on him, was cooking in his style and HAD NEVER LOST A FISH COMPETITION BEFORE IN HIS 40 YEARS OF CUISINE

  • No creativity, no imagination at all. Worse, he goes on to say in an interview in glob & mail that "we were robbed". He entered the kitchen looking dazzled & looked very unsure of himself which I agree with as he is one small chef who got lucky & made it big.

What he presented to the judges reflects exactly his limited knowledge in cooking & his lack of creativity.

Guacamole 3 styles, give me a bloody break, a monkey can do better than that.

  • @addell LOL Guacamole 3 ways ....

  • The judging is a joke ..Flay repeats the same menu again and again depite guest Chefs trying to push the envelope . Although I think the scores should have been closer in this case they got the winner correct. The worst Discrepancy occurred when Lynn Crawford whipped Flays ass only to end up losing thanks Karine Bakoum's votes who was Flays plus sized PR diva a few years back.

  • The final results really are misleading. How on Earth they decide who will be judges is beyond me. A Soap actor who has no clue about food and sounds drugged most of the time, and a farm advocate.

Michael Smith deserved far better results than he got, though Bobby Flay was the deserved winner. I just think a statement like "HE GOT WHOOOPED" is a little unfair and one sided.

  • i missed it on tv... where can i watch it????

  • Anna Olson? Gimme a break. She doesnt even come close to Iron Chef caibre. Her recipes are so pretentious.

  • wait who got whooped, iron chef or michael smith

  • Oh this is AWESOME! They need to have Anna Olson on there soon!

  • i can't wait for this!!
