Watch a bit of it and they really need to cut out the angst and drama from the story and focus on the real meat of a Tokusatsu which is action. Tokusatsu are light on story and heavy on action. Fire the current writers and hire a good Hong Kong fight choreographer and focus more on creative battles on every episode. Also for goodness sakes I wish they haven't RESUED the names and terminology from the Original Shaider, (fuma, Alexis etc) it just made this series feel more like a poor copy.

For me, the series gets a 2 out of 5. It would have been good but some elements of the series really brought down the quality of the viewing experience. I do not see myself watching the entire series again even on DVD. A lot of things could have been done properly. For example, the guy-in-suit robot should have matched the CGI robot by not being too detailed and organic-looking.

I read in an old late 80's sci fi mag that Shaider was english dubbed for tv in Asia. This was about 5 years before VR TROOPERS ever existed. Too bad no one has copies. Just the sub version. I wonder if Gavan or Sharivan were ever english dub as well back then? They've all been sub more recently but I prefer a dub. I hope Zaido doesn't get turned into a new VR TROOPER series. I'd prefer an accurate dub. Hopefully Disney will stay away. Hopefully Space Sheriff series will continue past 3 years.
