Im not a member of the Labour Party, I am, however, a supporter, and ive been in hospitals in run down areas and in good areas, they have improved Dramatically in the last 13 years, its astonishing. The NHS isn't the countries biggest employer for nothing. The only problem with the system is the patients, people can't abuse the best healthcare in the world.

@DaMarsBar What planet are you on? Since Labours introduction of PCT's, the NHS has become one huge bureaucratic nightmare, run as a business rather than as a care organisation.
Every year £billions are literally pissed down the drain, last year more managers than nurses were recruited, non emergency operations are continually re-sheduled to get around waiting list times, the standard of care has plummeted, wards are being closed and hygiene is so bad that infection rates have sawed.

Don't foget that included in our healthcare are GP surgeries, pharmacies, dentists, opticians, although not totally, they are still included. I agree the number of managers is ridiculous. But mabye non-emergency managers are re-scheduled to make time for Emergency surgery?

@ASKaPHYSICIST - As far as I know they haven't said that explicitly, obviously, as it is not a vote winning statement. I would not be at all surprised if the Tories intend making even more cuts to what is already a very tight budget. Cameron did no better at answering this question than Brown. The Lib Dems, again as far as I know, are the only ones to state that they would protect science funding, but they haven't promised to restore it to the levels of the pre-STFC budget.
