Did you know however that it was inspired by My Way which was written by the French singer Claude Francois (named Comme d'habitude in fr) Bowie was asked to translate the lyrics but his were rejected and later he decided to write his own song using practically the same chords in the verse.....and how beautiful it turned out to be especially with Rick Wakeman playing the original version on Hunky Dory!

However, there have been rumours flying around that there is an autobiography in the works, as well as a possible forthcoming studio album (although there was an article some months ago, saying Iman wants [prefers] him to have nothing more with recording; or at least have a VERY limited interaction). Okay, I'm sorry, but I CANNOT STAND IMAN! She may be married tot he most wonderfully gorgeous man in the world but she shouldn't tell him he can't do anymore recording or make him disappear from us. But he's also got to feel comfortable, himself, in doing what needs to be done. I think that's why he's doing an autobiography... maybe this will be his way back in?
I understand David himself needs to be okay with coming back; and maybe Iman will be fine with him coming back and doing new things. I certainly hope that his book will help him decide to come back to music and do new projects. I never got a chance to see him in concert or anything like that because I discovered him and his music AFTER he'd disappeared and would like the chance although he may not ever do anymore concerts even if he does come back with new material.

We have become very patient and modest :-), just waiting for a little sign he will give us, any word he says or writes will do, someone as brilliant and creative and influential as DB has always got something to say, and he doesn't need to be beautiful and young forever... Good music or art in general is not a matter of age, he said that (not literally) himself in an interview once.
David is the kind of man who can't sit still for very long he needs a project. That's why he did those smaller cameos in different movies and such after Reality. Yet, I haven't heard of anything else he's done so I wonder what he's been working on...

As a teen I won tix to see him perform his Serious Moonlight tour, I had always been a fan...since my 'rents were hippies of sorts.
...I found his androgyny and persona extremely sexy, but my best friend was more of a normal teen.
She new little of him really, but she came along just to hang out with me.

Next time I went to her house she had removed Billy Squire from above her bed and now there hung in all his glory was David. ; )

My favourite song (though it is almost impossible to choose one out of his outstanding oeuvre) by my all time favourite artist.
But what happened to poor David ? Why those injuries?

@LadyBowie1119 His right eye seems hurt - it looks like black around the eye and his left hand is bandaged ? Isn't that strange ? But, thankfully, there are some other and later videos here on youtube where he looks o.k. again and sings with a strong voice better than ever.

@ezaube1030 The injuries are faked... it's part of the allusion... all in jest for the song. If you search for when he performed with Arcade Fire in that same night, he's perfectly healthy.

@ezaube1030 You are welcome. :) That was the point (pitiable, ect). If I remember correctly, it was to bring the allusion of the general "brawl" feeling from the theatre to life.... as if he was the one struck down. It was literal, at best.

@abe11825 Interesting. But faked or not, it makes me sad. The saddest thing is that he has literally disappeared from the public. So I will go on searching whole youtube for the traces he has left, there are so many excellent things, it will take me lots of time to get through :-)

@ezaube1030 Agreed - it's interesting and he has, quite literally, disappeared from the public eye. However, there have been rumours flying around that there is an autobiography in the works, as well as a possible forthcoming studio album (although there was an article some months ago, saying Iman wants [prefers] him to have nothing more with recording; or at least have a VERY limited interaction). Who knows, though.... anything can happen!

Okay, I'm sorry, but I CANNOT STAND IMAN! She may be married tot he most wonderfully gorgeous man in the world but she shouldn't tell him he can't do anymore recording or make him disappear from us. If David wants to record a new album LET HIM! I can't stand it that he's practically disappeared since his heart attack. He did a few things afterward but they were just small roles in films or television. I wish he'd come back to us whether Iman likes it or not!

@LadyBowie1119 It was in some online articles a few months back... aboout Iman not really wanting David to record and such. But who knows how much of it was actually true. But he's also got to feel comfortable, himself, in doing what needs to be done. I think that's why he's doing an autobiography... maybe this will be his way back in?

I understand David himself needs to be okay with coming back; and maybe Iman will be fine with him coming back and doing new things. I certainly hope that his book will help him decide to come back to music and do new projects. I never got a chance to see him in concert or anything like that because I discovered him and his music AFTER he'd disappeared and would like the chance although he may not ever do anymore concerts even if he does come back with new material.

@LadyBowie1119 You are right. There are so many "starving" Bowie-Fans all over the world. We have become very patient and modest :-), just waiting for a little sign he will give us, any word he says or writes will do, someone as brilliant and creative and influential as DB has always got something to say, and he doesn't need to be beautiful and young forever... Good music or art in general is not a matter of age, he said that (not literally) himself in an interview once.

David is the kind of man who can't sit still for very long he needs a project. That's why he did those smaller cameos in different movies and such after Reality. Yet, I haven't heard of anything else he's done so I wonder what he's been working on...
