  • Even older this guy still sounds amazing.

  • the rock hall of fame is one of the most boring places i ve visited.the only good part of our journey was eating lunch at a michael symon restaurant.classic rock hall of fame should be the name.how we loved seeing michael jacksons shoes, iggy pops bandanna and eric claptons many exhibits.overpriced and under-interesting attraction.visit the stax museum in memphis and the gibson guitar factory is right next door.that is a worthwhile trip!grand funks music made my young life fun, they rule!

  • wow! his voice sounds great still and this is from a camcorder or cellphone. I loved his band when I was a kid

  • HE SOUNDS GREAT!!! i wanna see them again & re live my childhood.

  • por este tipo de mùsica ,GFR, se fue a la punta del cerro(malo).

Y todo gracias a mark farner.

  • WOW, still sounds great. Not many sound even remotely as good after so many years. One of my favorite songs.

  • The RRHOF has become a joke. Membership is not what it once was. I mean... ABBA? Percy Sledge? I could go on, but why.

  • FODA ESSE SOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CARALHO! GFR é uma PUTA banda! sou fã d+!

esse SWU tinha q chamar umas bandas assim! e não essas porras modernninhas cheias de firula e pouco som!

  • He's a good guy. I know him personally.

  • Mark's still got it. Looks great, too. I hear hey a real down to earth guy, too.

  • @AFatGuyNamedPete

Mark always has time to talk to his fans.

Even if it's 3:00AM with a 500 mile trip to tomorrow's show. I've talked to him after many shows & he was always great. Down to earth type. No B.S.

  • They used to be all over the radio when i was a kid back in the 60/70,s

  • Comment removed

  • Fantastic Mark, I´ll see you always

  • excellent -- thanks for the video

  • was never a BIG fan of GFR but loved mark farner and BAD TIME

  • The Rock and Roll hall of fame does not exist without GFR.

  • he was great then...he is still great now...

  • INCREDIBLE VOICE.

  • G F R IN THERE TIME were better live than any other band i was listening to that includes rollin stones etc

  • Mark still sounds GREAT!!!!

  • Let's quit dancing around the facts .... If GFR had had a black member, they'd have been in the R&R HOF long ago. FACT--- It's a politically correct piece of shit organization that excludes white artists of great talent and includes TONS of lesser acts with black members who were never more than a blip on the musical radar. GFR is just the start of it. Chicago, Todd Rundgren, Alice Cooper; it is MINDBLOWING. Tons more ... check it-

  • This is the first time I've ever seen/heard Grand Funk Railroad - great voice this guy has. I know the song well through The Jayhawks' not-too-dissimilar version - check it out.

  • @juliannebonner Mark wrote , plays and sings this song , which he did pretty good here , but the original recording from All the girls beware is much better.

they started as a hardrock trio but turned to poplike radio songs.

  • they are coming to sonoma september, cant wait, best group to survive the 70's , 80's and the rest.

  • sounds excellent ... too bad there wasn't anyone worth a squat to back him up .... hey mark ... go find someone .... i'm sure someone could do it ..... and the song would sound even more amazing!

  • @PackedFunk Thanks PackedFunk, he must be worried about something. But keep doing what your doing, I am Australian and think GFR should be there. A truly awesome American Band. Thanks again :-)

  • To those requesting signatures for the RnR HoF to admit GFR, I say SCREW the RRnR HoF. They are nothing but a representation of corporate b.s., commercialism, mainstream taste and quite possibly managed by people that have no understanding about the true essence of rock. Don't you think they get these petitions all the time for this and that group? Do they do something about it? Do they care?

  • Mark, Come rock my house anytime you want! You are still AWESOME!!!!1 Would have liked to be there!!!11

  • He sounds great; so enthusiastic despite having sang the song a gajillion times!

  • Grand Funk Railroad not being acknowledged by R&R HOF is disrespectful.

Grand Funk Railroad has earned the respect of millions of fans & artists worldwide.

It is time to give them their due.

    Everyone please sign our petition.

The link is above. It only takes a minute to sign.

  • i saw these guys I think in the late 90s or early 2000s in San Diego. "Bad Time" was the very last song they played and it brought the house down!

  • Mark, you are the best...I love you.

    Marina - Curitiba - Brazil

  • His voice is still there. Awesome.

  • This is what many people think Rock & Roll is all about. GFRxR was simple and they were crude and they rocked with a vengeance without pretense or apology. Their live show was 100% energy. It was raw and it was real. For all us who remember, nothing can replace it.

  • mark has dissed alot of people in DETROIT and those in the rock business thats why he's being passed over FIGURE IT OUT MAN GEEEZ go back way back

  • By "dissed" you mean he didn't kiss their asses?

  • FUCK the rock and roll hall of shame ...it is what it is ..Grand Funk is GRAND FUNK ..nuff said !

  • For real! Look @ many of those who are in the R&R Hall of Fame are not even Rock & Roll artists.

It's all a really stupid farce-esque joke anyway. GFR doesn't need the likes of those types to tell them who they are or what they've done. The media has always been crappy to GFR since the very beginning because they were 'mavericks' that refused to conform to the overly produced crap everyone else was doing, selling out to make a buck. They had purpose and a message.. and knew how to deliver it.

  • I LOVE IT!!!!!!!

  • Everyone sign the damn petition & lets get Grand Funk Railroad the respect that is due!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fuckin' Phil Collins over Mark Farner??? Are you kidding me???????????

    FUCK THIS!!!

Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone has crossed the line.

  • Mark Farner and Grand Funk Railroad belong in the R/R Hall of Fame and to not be there makes the "Hall" a joke, and not to be taken seriously. Unbelievable. Sorry Mark, Don and Mel. Shameful.

  • @rondog97 Yeah, Madonna is there but Grand Funk, Heart, and Pat Benatar aren't. How much sense does that make?

  • what a voice

  • The Huffington Post just wrote an article about Grand Funk being blackballed by The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Go to their site & search:

How lame is The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame?

  • mark farner is the man of the real grand funk rail road

  • Mark Farner is one of the greatest singer/songwriters alive today.

For the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame to disrepect him the way the do is shameful.

Everyone please sign our petition listed above.

  • @PackedFunk Fuck Rolling Stoned Rag. and Fuck the R&R Hall of Shame! The people who know about music already put Grand Funk in their Hall of Fame! Rock out with your cock out! & Roll out with your pole out!

  • WHOA!!! I can't BELIEVE he can still sing this good! I loved this song in high school but haven't really kept up with him. Amazing.

Billy Lee and the Riviera's (you know what I mean) were here a couple years back...Mitch's mom lives close by. Always loved ur music and your band kicks ass. your voice is crystal clear. Love that "trademark" armband. Whether you know it or not....you are a midwest legend, If not worldwide. Please look into it. Great song bro!

  • GFR should be in THE HALL OF FRAME!

GFR is the greatest ( Hard- ) Rock Band of the greatest in the 70-er!

  • Thnx for posting this song, still sounds great!

    *****!

  • There is absolutley No reason why Grand Funk should not be in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame!!!!!!!!!

  • I agree with you totally. Grand Funk Railroad is one the best Classic Rock bands of all time.

  • Mark Farner sounds better than ever! Thanks T.J.

  • great voice.

  • This is how it was. The New York Daily News Nationwide Readers' Poll for 1971. Tens of thousands of votes were cast from every state in the nation. When the final score was tallied, Grand Funk Railroad had garnered a whopping 75% of the total vote as "Best Rock Group In The U.S." Left to split up the remaining 25% were: 2. Creedence Clearwater, 3. Jackson Five, 4. Led Zeppelin, 5. Three Dog Night, 6. The Who, 7. Sly, 8. Santana, 9. Chicago, and 10. Ten Years After!
  • Great performance!!!! this is one of my favorites songs of Mark & Grand funk, I love this song, he's a nice singer and I love his voice. Thanks for share this!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I know Mark and this band when I was a young girl 15. I love the way he acted and sing on the stage and still love them, especially Mark! One song I can't find here is "I don't have to sing the blue", I like it so much if someone has it, please post it, not only for me but just for everyone who loves GFR! Thank you PackedFunk for sharing the good videos. Tks again!!!

  • Everyone click the blue link above & sign our petition to induct Mark Farner & GFRxR into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

  • This is great!

  • i just tried to sign the petition..but they got me..'cos i signed it before!..GFR!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh did they got your IP or did you sign under the same name? Because I have signed it twice too, from the same pc and my friend did too, also the same one and they didnot react, so what went wrong by you?

  • GF's best song of all, although it doesn't translate quite as well live. Should have gone to number 1.

  • Agreed, so agreed!! Seems very lame compared to the studio. Then again, most songs are.

  • digg the "formerly of" sign

  • Awesome song, one great singer!...

  • Happy 60th birthday Mark Farner. Still as great as ever.

  • Mark Farner's incredible voice! Awesome!

  • Please people, we need more signatures on our petition. Just click the "blue link" above & you are there. It only takes seconds to sign it. Thanks everyone.

  • Yaa !!

Voted 5 times so far :D

    Cheeeeeeeers o/*

    Barbs

  • He still looks & sings good. I like Grand Funk & I had no idea the band broke up. The band was still touring up to a couple years ago.

I last saw them in concert back in 1997 & 1998& they were excellent.

  • Band has been playing as a 5 piece for a long time now. Mark just quit because he's a new born Christain and still refuses to play "American band" because of the lyris

  • Man, that's too bad he quit the band. It's only a song, and a good one at that.

  • The most radio played song of 1975.

  • Can't thank you enough for posting this one; this song has always been a favorite. The man is breathtaking. Signed your petition as well...

  • Jayhawks cover is decent.

  • Everyone please click on blue link above & sign the online petition to induct Grand Funk into The Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.

  • Wow mark sounds like a charm.

  • How Old Is Mark Now In 2008?

  • He will be 60. My how time flies!

  • top song. great post!

  • I've seen GFR 3 times in the 70's and also their reunion tour of '98. The 98 tour was sooo good as the original 3 members were really refined and playing their best EVER!!! I believe they had the most successful tour of any band that year. The crowd was screaming. I couldn't believe how great they were. Then...they broke up again!

  • Love it -thanks for posting!

  • I love this song. He's got a great voice for it

  • I sure wish the three guys original to Grand Funk could hold it together, they are all getting to old for egos to be a issue. Mark Farner you are my hero, I love this song and several others you sing. I wish you would make it to North Carolina, we never get good rock here anymore. Thanks for posting

  • One of my favorites! Thanks for posting.

  • Woody Harrelson should play Farner in the movie.

  • awesome song..he's really great!

  • this type of show is what all need for a good practice secion, and you get pay

  • It is a tribute to Mr. Farner that even in a small-time venue like this with poor acoustics, he evokes the memory of the once-great GFR. Great live rendition of Bad Time...thanks for posting!

  • Love this song! Can't even find it being played by the original Grand Funk Railroad in a video. How come he doesn't ever play w/the original guys from GFR?? Just curious ....

  • Creative differences with Donny Brewer. If you want to see Grand Funk Railroad, go see Mark Farner & N'rG. The new Grand Funk is a scam.

  • I think it's actually Don (not sure about Mel) just havin' bad blood with Mark more than anything else in what I read Mark say. Mark wanted to promote one of the GFR compilations and Don just did not want him in the band anymore. But, it's only rock & roll. I was too young to be a part of the GFR experience in the '70s, but when Mark and Don put the band back together in the '80s, I was so thrilled even tho it didn't last and Craig Frost was not a part of it. Sledgehammer rock on "GF Lives"

  • Please fans. Sign PackedFunk's petition to induct Grand Funk (Mark Farner) into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. THIS was the talent that lead the band. They were all great, but Farner was the front man....THE driving force behind this band.

  • Well all you Funk Fans, that is one million views of our Grand Funk Railroad videos. Thanks to everyone who has supported our efforts with the petition in the video's description. This is not only The People's Band, This is America's Band! Here's to the next one million views & God Bless Everyone!!! T.J.

  • Stellar voice to this day! He is "some kind of talent!"

  • Wow, Mark Farner's voice still sounds great!

  • Everyone please sign our petition in this video's description. Thanks all you Funk Fans!

  • Fantabulous!

  • Farner still has his incredable voice.

  • TRIPLE PLTNUMMM

  • We used to play this one in a band when I was a freshman in college. I was the drummer and lead vocal on this one, and that song is hard to sing! Nice job Mark. I saw them live in 1974... before this one came out.

  • I just saw grand funk at the south florida fair last weekend, they are just as awsome as he is why cant they get together? it seems like they would do it while every one has good health.

  • what can one say except AWESOME!!!

  • ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!!

  • I totally agree! His voice is even BETTER than it was in the earlier days. How in the world can the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

(shame) keep denying this man of his due??

Mark (GFR), belongs in there! One of the very best voices in rock and roll history!

  • Dear old Mark...how much I loved that group. It's a shame that RnR Hall of Fame doesn't include these guys...Hall of Infame

  • The New York Daily News' Nationwide Readers' Poll for 1971.

  • We need your help Funk/Farner Fans. Please sign our petition in this video's description. Just click "more" to open it & you'll see the blue link.

  • Well PackedFunk - the rumors were true. Today they announced the newest members - Is this a sad joke? - John Mellencamp, The Ventures, Leonard Cohen ,The Dave Clark Five & Madonna. (Real rock legends, huh?)

  • Yea, it SUCKS Bad! Lipsync Madonna in & GFRxR out. Looks like "The Mistake By The Lake" once again lives up to it's nickname! I'm glad Farner got his Messenger Guitar back from those idiots. They don't deserve it! I will however continue the petition drive, as I don't give-up easy. Take care BadTime & keep The Funk!

  • Yes Bad, its beyond a sad joke. Thats why I started my 'underground' tactics that I hope take Rolling Stone and Jann Wenner by storm. Injustice is not tolerated in this country, and we'll "tea party" his ass until he gets real.

    FIGHT FIRE WITH TIRE!

  • so glad i found this! been wantin to hear this song forever! still as good as ever! and he still looks good too! think helikes younger women?? hehe :D

  • its a..."DECLARATION OF FUNK" y'all! Get widdit by signing the petition at the description of the video, please. Thank you.

  • Come on all you FUNK brothers and sisters...join the Movement and help us elevate GRAND FUNK RAILROAD to their proper status in the Hall Of Fame and if possible help pull the bone out of Jann Wenners ass of Rolling Stone Magazine. Please begin by going to the description of this video and signing the petition like #1572 did. 1572? Yeah! Check THAT shit out!

  • OK all you Funk Brothers & Sisters, I have posted some more rare Farner videos from '87. Search PackedFunk. There are more coming also. • Fattdaddy- count me in! Seriously, I am a member of the R&R HOF & Museum & have free passes & a couple of 2 for 1 admission passes. See you there! Keep me posted.

    Peace Out.

  • Right-on BadTime! Thanks Bro.

  • Man!

Even after all these years, Farner has still got great chops!!

I remember, in the early 70's watching Grand Funk, on Don Kirchner's, "Rock Concert," which strated about midnight EST and Funk played the longest concert I saw, with a few friends, just over 3 wonderful hours.

A 3 piece band, with definite American R&R sound of their own.

There is no logical reason why these guy aren't in the Hall!!!!!!!

  • I agree rockinroller. No logical reason. Just some fool with money blackballing them.(Jann Wenner).

  • Farner may have blown him off for an interview, at some point, or there was a time mixup, but since Wenner made himself a whore to the advertisement world, and ruined RS, I wouldn't put anything past the arrogant bastard.

  • And another thing is for sure. Wenner sure has not made any friends here. All of us fans want to see GFR in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It just doesn't seem fair that ONE GUY, this @$%- - - - (you can fill in the blanks here).. has the power to keep this from happening!

  • JOIN THE MOVEMENT! SEND JANN WENNER AN OLD TIRE!

Get a "postage free subscription card" from a Rolling Stone mag, attach it to a big box containing an old tire to the ATTN: JAN WENNER

Return address: GFRxR FAN Up to 70 pounds of SHIT will be shipped for free! Lets fill their mailroom with boxes of garbage! Hey JANN...DON"T FUCK WITH FUNK!

  • Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone Magazine is the reason GFRxR is not in the R&R HOF! To Hell with that piece of crap & his shitty magazine. I'm not buying another one of his shitty magazines until his attitude changes. This idiot knows nothing about music! It makes you wonder where they get some of these fools!

  • Madonna is a shoe-in for the next induction ceremony? Puleeze! Bubble-gum, no talents are in there but not real rockers like Grand Funk?

  • BadTimeToBeInLove you are so right. A bunch of no-talents. GFRxR, Linda Ronstadt, Alice Cooper, 3 Dog Night, etc. are left-out. Madonna is a shoe-in??? Man, something stinks real bad here. I think I'm going to throw-up. STOP THIS CRAP BY SIGNING OUR PETITION IN THIS VIDEO'S DESCRIPTION.

  • All you Funk Fans sign the petition in this video's description. It only takes seconds to do.

  • How many more, PackedFunk, do we need anyway? I am doing what I can to get them CLOSER TO THE HALL OF FAME.

  • awesome, its good just to see him still playing.. wish i woulda been there.. :(

  • Hall of Fame....(216)781-ROCK Call them and ask WHY this great band has not been inducted. But first please sign the petition!

  • On September 29th, 1948 - A star was born!

I am sure that Mark will never see this....but

A VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, MARK FARNER. 59 years young. Mark, you STILL sound as great as ever!!

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK!......you catching up to FUNK MOMMA!

  • Got a ways to go before he catches up with my momma!! I'm trying to get her to sign up on YOU TUBE/Grand Funk. Hope we can all hear from her soon.

  • GFRxR have 33 gold & platinum ALBUMS earned & many gold & platinum singles. They also still hold many ticket sales records. NOT being recognized by The R&R HOF is a bitch-slap to every fan who bought one of those albums or concert tickets.

Sign the petition in this video's description.

  • PackedFunk....I signed the petition and was given a coupon for a free case of Bud! Is this normal?

  • great to see a recent video of mark. i have enjoyed his voice for decades. he's still got it! thanks for sharing the video.

  • Thanks packedfunk for the trunk full of funk. Been waiting a generation to see some of the footage you posted. This is great for a new gereration to witness what funk and roll was all about. Nobody brought it to us and dropped it off like Grand Funk Railroad.

  • Always glad to hear from another GFRxR fan rayanthonybrown. I hope you signed the petition in this video's description. Rock on Bro!

  • Thank you, Packed. Mark voice is still "stellar."

  • Its a shame how relationships go south, but it happens to all of us. Just hurts when such a great rock band as Grand Funk Railroad may never play again for MILLIONS of fans because of misunderstandings. Its really too bad.
