  • great bike but the sound of two cylinders is shit ...

  • Bit the bullit since last post. '12 848Evo pulls 123hp/73.5lbs out of the box. Slip-on nets it another 4hp/1lb. Rexxor mapping & a BMC puts it back to the advertised 136hp/75lbs. Still getting 33mpg too, so I imagine this was designed-in.

Showa is surprisingly awesome, but springs are too stiff for anyone under 190lbs (+$120). Tires are great for track, but save them and use Dunlop Q2's as dailies. She does NOT like going slow and you can feel it come together when you start mixing it up.

  • @DesmosediciAlice no no im looking for stunting or anything im gonna keep everything on the track

  • @iveckin lol thought ill ask never hurt to learn right

  • @jake011386 not true i grew up on Ducati 748 , just respect the bike don't do anything stupid like impressing your girlfriend etc. you'll be fine

  • 848 is it begginer friendly?

  • @jake011386 How can be 140hp superbike begginer friendly ? "-_-

  • ducati reminds me of apple, but i dont hate ducati

  • now i know what i sound like when i talk with my helmet on

  • Does anyone know what helmet he had? I know it was an Arai but I've never seen that design before.

  • dear youtube, fuck you, you fucked the website by putting advertisement and some questions

  • The fork looks soft at 0:58.

  • About price (USD), what I'm offered currently at the dealer is $15K out the door for the 848, $17K OTD for 1198 + $1000 in Ducati credit (Termi's basically). 1198 adds some cubes/power and a working Traction Device for that grand but takes away the wet clutch which I prefer (miss the sound though).

And then there's that darn MV F3 currently taking deposits for "maybe" an April '12 delivery (which usually means July at best).

  • @ it hasnt got cup holders front and rear you know,or cruise control

  • nice bike cant stand the way they sound though

  • what modle of arai is that?

  • Oh yes

  • its not* ten grand its 12,995......

  • @razorjr1994 In your country, maybe.

  • @andrewford80 witch suckssss assss

  • @razorjr1994 well its 21 grand here and our dollar is currently higher than yours. so that sucks more asses

  • its no ten grand its 12,995......

  • id do anything for this bike ¬ ¬

  • Would anyone care to compare a 848 Evo versus buying a used 1098? - I'm a former RC51 owner X 2....so I'm interested in what would be a natural transition.

  • @stoppie The only real differences between them are the power and clutch.

1098 has more power & torque, but some people don't like the dry clutch on the road.

848 is a slightly more road oriented version of the 1098. The power & gearing is more road biased and the wet clutch makes stop/start riding easier.

Other than that, they're pretty much identical.

  • @stoppie I'm interested in some of that as well. I rented an '09 848 (non-Evo) for a weekend, and as a past RC51 and 996 owner, the 848 is so ahead I almost chuckle when I try to compare them myself. I feel the 848's power curve is spot on, so it's there more early in the revs and felt much more friendly. From an RC51, the Ducs may have you feeling like you're setting on it rather than in it.

I'm mixed between an 1198 and 848 myself. Dealer incentive has them basically $1000 different OTD.

  • @Chumly409 so did the 848 feel stronger n faster then the rc51?was the 848 modded?was the rc51 modded?i have a 03 rc with sato pipes,power cammander3,dan kyle mapping.always wanted to know if i bought a 848,would i feel satisfyed with the power n speed?or do i need a 1098?

  • @freightrain808 The 848evo is a huge leap forward the RC51 or 998 it contends with. I had to add a lot of work and money to an RC51 to still fall behind a showroom Evo. It's got a lot of guts, is planted, and is a perfect bike IMO.

IMO, the 1198/1098 is easier to manage on the streets and some incentives place them just $1K apart. Right now you have the 848 Corse and MV F3 to split that difference too, either of which I'd buy right now.

    But I'm more than happy!

  • Love the sound!

  • How much is this bike us dollars?

  • @mrdimebreezy100 its about 13k for black, 14k for red and white

  • @zintangibles Yeah and $22000 here in Australia!!

  • @mattyoz0

u should be glad because this cost about USD29500 in singapore

  • @mrdimebreezy100 12.999$ Base price in States. Prices variate for color. $700-800 more for red (I think). I'm not sure.

  • "and its only 10 grand" dude its a toy. 10 grand for the average bloke like me is a fucking lot of money!!

  • @dibnah46, It's all relative... He doesn't mean only 10 grand compared to a loaf of bread. He means only 10 grand compared to other supersport bikes such as all the 1000cc's.

  • @dibnah46 It's only money mate!

    Peace.

  • @CveleNis81 maybe if your coined up its only money.

  • @dibnah46 Give it a couple of years. The price will come down. I plan on gettin a 2011 some time in 2012. But I've been savin a bit up for it mate. Thats what its all about. Save "n" play.

  • @rchdro yeah good call. to be honest im thinking about a 999s in good condition. i know their an acquired taste but i think their pretty nice.

  • @dibnah46 I'm in the process of trading in my 999s for the 848 Evo. Did the test ride for the Evo this morning.

You will not be disappointed with the 999s. It fires out of corners like nothing else I've ridden.

  • @TychoCelchu cheers mate looking forward to getting a leg over a ducati! how did the 848 compare to your 999?

  • @dibnah46 They handle very differently on standard suspension settings. 999 is low and sharp in the turns. 848 is taller and has a much firmer ride, but still very planted.

Comparative comfort is down to your riding style and physical size.

The wet clutch on the 848 is a lot easier if you do a lot of riding in town, but on sweeping roads you won't notice the difference.

999 has more low down grunt. 848 is happy to rev more, so the power curve is a bit flatter.

You should try both of them.

  • @TychoCelchu thanks for the advice i will try and get a test ride on both!

  • Reminds me of the 916 in terms of looks (is there a better looking bike?), sound (is there a better sounding bike?) and of course it goes, turns and stops like a wee jewel.

I'd honestly have this over its bigger chums.

  • It seems that the subtext to this video was "I'm going to get this review out of the way as fast as possible, so I can get back to having fun on the bike." He's clearly enjoyed riding it.

  • Elegant, really, it's a sculpture as much as a mode of transportation. Good work, thanks.

  • she's so gorgeous!!! I meant, I own moped all the time and being asian it's hard to resist Suzukis Hondas nor Yamahas...but reality had shown that european bike is a beaut!! the design always as simple as the power tweaked out of the throttle...long live ducati for producing awesomeness time after time!!!

  • @jongkongmas youre the man

  • @jongkongmas you're the man

  • i was riding this bike on the highway at 100mph and then my alarm clock woke me up

  • @thugztaa 100 mph? That's idle speed! If I was dreaming I would go like 400 mph!

  • @bloodpig101 whyy are you replying to what i comment you fagg

  • @thugztaa ...because...i'm apparently a homosexual! You big nasty straight guy!

  • @bloodpig101 oh my god! I did it again...really...i'm SO sorry!

  • @thugztaa Oh no...I did it again...so sorry...

  • @thugztaa I was riding this bike at 100k's on a suburb street..but then i realized i was speeding and had to slow down..test rode one of these yesterday :D

  • @thugztaa i was riding this bike today on the freeway at 100mph and then a cop pulled me over and impounded my bike... i didnt wake up

  • seriously. how is MCN in business? what a shit show. I've seen 20 plus vids on YT and they are all pathetic. Not a single honest comment. How can everything you guys ride be the best bike ever made?

  • love the view and no music but i hate that the video is short :'(

  • Jap bikes are like clit every cunts got one

  • @theschuminator 'cept the RC51.

  • @theschuminator ur a fool

  • I have a 2010 Stealth Black love it. You got to go with the flat black if you buy it!

  • @CarmineD187

definitely want a black one, but i also want more than an 848. unfortunately the 1198 doesn't come in black, only the 1198s does, which costs $22,000 (way too much for what i can afford). so it all boils down to either settling for the 848 evo black, or get a bmw s1000rr

  • I've heard that Ducati's gears are shift differently than other superbikes... is that true?

where is the first gear on a ducati, up or down?

  • brilliant report as always, good job MCN!

  • My sweet Ducati 848 is still standing in the garage (with central heating system), on towels so her feet won't get cold =P I can't wait for the sun to start shining again, for the temperature to go up again, opening the garagedoor, starting up the engine and burning some rubber =D

    I CAN'T WAIT! =D

  • ctrl+w to skip ad

  • A few more tanks of fuel, less than 300 miles :( !!

  • same price as a japanese 1000...Yamaha R1 and Honda CBR1000 always get bikes of the year! Ducati is only buying a brand and look! i mean i like Ducati's but i wouldnt buy one untill i get my dental career going. Everything about them is so expensive is redicolous! If you Really know about motorcycles you know japanese bikes hand down are the best bikes for your money people!

  • @andy3307v I would buy an Italian Bike 1000 times, especially this beautifull beast...It costs a lot, you're right but it can't be compared with a Jap one!!Jap got good lookin but that finishes in some years...Italian one never stop makin hearts beating, even after a lot of years...Talking about quality,no comment...Brembo brakes : O

  • @andy3307v "buying a brand and look"

Yeah, looks don't matter at all. Pfft.

I learned to ride on a ninja 500, my next bike was a cbr600rr, then i got a duc 1098, and I just got an F4 312R. Italian bikes feel nicer, look a hell of a lot better, and are simply the goods. It's like saying a nissan gtr is as fast or faster than a ferrari and costs less, but everyone who can afford the ferrari buys the ferrari. A jap bike is a fast bike, a ducati is art, as well as a fast bike.

  • That thing is beautifle!

  • Ride a Ducati make fell less flaw cause it mount better parts and quotes are differents so the stability is better, 2 cylinder engines give a linear power over all the throttle and this satisfies you ever, look it's simply great. That's true but don't means that other bikes are shit. If other constructors could make a bike beauty like that they would not sell it at a lower price! that's all Folks!

  • he says waste tanks of fuel i'm sure he means use gloriously

  • PRICES PRICES PRICES

  • the commercial is longer than the damn vid.

  • can someone tell me the price in euro?

  • That is a good looking bike....I feel like I'm cheatin' on my bike.

  • @Shogun09R1 i know EH!!!!

  • he does not have to wear a suit, rides motorcycles all day...and gets paid for it!! what a great life!

  • Cycle World mag said the steering gets heavy at speeds above 75 mph (sorry guys... I'm American : P). So, the street would definitely not be the ONLY place to review this bike.

  • A pretty nice design. I would buy it

  • love that sound!!!!

  • IM IN LOVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!XX

  • so with the 848 being able to top at 181mph, the 1198 should go about 200+ without it being limited?

  • Dude, you don't use wide-angle lenses to review bikes, the distortion makes them look weird...

  • 140 hp nope that's a lie. 1198 only spit out 150 true hp. do the math. this guy i s a dosh. when it comes to Ducati bike test rides, almost every fucking tester always say good things about Ducati and never a flaw, that is bullshit. not every bike is perfect. i wonder how much Ducati is paying these testers to say shit like this.

  • @ilikesuzuki On the crankshaft, not the backwheel. Do some research before you talk shit mate.

And I notice you have never ridden a Ducati before.

  • @SicSeb fuck you man you don't make any sense. read my comments before you make a fucking statement you fucking European cunt.

  • @ilikesuzuki You said: "140 hp nope that's a lie. 1198 only spit out 150 true hp. do the math. this guy i s a dosh."

I said in respons: "140 hp was measured on the CRANKSHAFT, NOT the BACKWHEEL."

You act like an internet toughguy when actually you have your facts wrong. 140 hp is correct, because they talk about the hp on the crankshaft.

  • @ilikesuzuki You also said: "when it comes to Ducati bike test rides, almost every fucking tester always say good things about Ducati and never a flaw, that is bullshit. not every bike is perfect."

I responded by saying that you probably have never ridden a Ducati before.

They didn't claim the bike is perfect, but riding a Ducati makes you overlook flaws more easily then with other bikes. Sorry that you can't 'take' that, but calling me a "fucking european cunt" is just pathetic.

  • Yeah, lets find out how good it is on..............the street? Are you fucking kidding me? This is a bike designed for the track. Please test it in an appropriate environment and report back.

  • Am I the only one that saw the front forks bottom out at 1:02 ? Not sure if thats good or bad . Still, , , Damn Sexy Bike ! And whats wrong with havin a Black one ? :oP

  • @WatchToddPattison Because Red goes fasterrrr!!!

  • @iiwillywonkaii LOL ! XD

  • "matt" black...? nice spelling guys. geez

  • roll on the 800 Daytona v 848 tests !!!

  • hmmm maybe i should've held out on buying my 2010 R1 o well i love my bike

  • So, $1,000 extra for the red paint. Fuck me.

  • @strandwolf

    XD....laugh my ass off :D

  • Most of you responding here probably couldn't afford to by an 848 if your life depended on it. I, on the other hand can and just might. Of course, I'm kind of an old geezer so pardon me if I don't ride it too fast.

  • @wurkboot "buy"

  • @wurkboot Lol!

  • @wurkboot That's a pretty bold statement, bro.

  • @FleeceLiner Ok, maybe I got a little carried away. Going to the Ducati store will do that to you.

  • HD would be nice =/

  • I want one! :)

  • I can even feel the vibes from the engine through my desk

  • 0:20-0:29 camel toe

  • @DexterGoneWild haha dude ur sick

  • YOU NEVER SEE THIS

  • Nice,,,,Another bike on my list to get. I don't think the gf would be happy if I turned up with one of these when we're supposed to be moving though!

  • Great video! I absolutely love the way it was put together. Good job Ian!

  • I rented a ducati and I attracted a lot of the homosexual element in my town...bad, because I like bike breasted women.

  • horrible colour on the helmet mate.

  • yespleaseIwantit

  • nice new mcn jacket ;-) new 848 rocks.. dont think u shud compare it with a r1 nightrider, even tho r1's are sexy 2. :p

  • @JDIAUS but thats a different class! r1 has way more cc's! cant really compare!

  • Only £10k

  • I would rather have an R1

  • @nightrider250R Well,that makes 1 person

  • @jogga123 :)

  • @nightrider250R U'd rather have the bike that everyone else and their dog has just because it has the reputation of being the fastest machine? When there is a good chance u couldnt even ride it any faster than u could the 848. Not to mention the money you'd lose on the resale value after Yamaha release the next year model that has a whole 2hp increase on the previous. Rather the bike from a piano company over the beautifully crafted V-twin Ducati? Give me an 848 any day. Truly a work of art.

  • @addys 848 is hardly an exclusive bike bud lol,

plus there is more to a bike then looks, (which you cant see while riding), unless you plan to spend more time looking at it instead

  • @FirEiLiE I didn't mention the word exclusive, but now that you mention it, it's far more so than "any" other 600 or 1 litre bike out of Japan. Go over the thing with a fine tooth comb and you'll see it's a work of art (assuming you have an eye for it). I have nothing against the japanese bikes, I have owned a few. very fast and nimble.

  • @addys i know you didn't, you stated that every one and their dog has a a Yamaha in comparison.

of course it is far more uncommon then a 600, or a litre bike... because it isn't in either class yet cost more then the 600 for not much more performance and nearly the same as the litre for less .

its a beautiful looking bike no need for a fine tooth comb, but if i wanted a work of "art" (as you call it), id buy a painting

  • @FirEiLiE well thats your opinion, mine is mine.

  • @addys I dont want the bike for the speed. Yamaha has cheaper parts and more accessories. Ducati is just a poser bike for people who want to go fast but never will. Speed has no factor. Insurance is cheaper also. Plus the R6 is not the fastest bike out there. The 848 and R6 are not even in the same class. Last the R6 has some of the best handling and is light is the reason I will get one. Ducati=Overrated.

  • @nightrider250R I don't think so.. the ducati is not overrated... it is a unique experience in terms of .. almost everything. From the price, sound, v-twin, gear box, quality of the materials etc. Really different. I had an R6 one month ago.. I sold it for an 848 but I love both. The r6 is an amazing machine but completely different. You can't compare. I personally bought a Ducati to get a new experience. Switching to a v-twing was my main concern. The rest is about color, shape.. who cares!!

  • @R6yam07 Interesting - I have an R6 at the moment and I the 848 is the only other sports bike that under 1 litre that appeals to me.

Anything from 1 litre up worries me too much (can you tell I'm finding it difficult to keep the speed on the R6 down?)

And all for £1k more than the R6...

  • @nightrider250R who mentioned the R6?

  • @nightrider250R Ducati is over hyped by the yuppie crowd here in KC. I have seen more than one duck rider stall their bike at a stoplight but don't hate on the machine for the poor riders who think it makes them trendy. An 848 is a street legal race bike bike and is a far cry better than your typical Ducati. Better brakes than average, better HP than average, even a wet clutch to reduce noice and add reliability and smoothness... this is the direction Duc is going and I love it! To each his own?

  • @dodgerider26 Yes it is. I just like how Ducati gets all respect is looked on as the best of the best. I have always had a certain respect for them like I do Harley's. Really I dont like how this company gets all respect for taking bikes to a new level. Most companies get noticed by the media. I too like what they are doing but not the way they are doing it.

  • @addys hahaha the piano stuff was a good one

  • that bike is SSEEEEEEEEEEEEEEXXXXXXXXXXXXYYYYYYYYYYY LOL

  • mic problem finally solved by mcn, well done, lets hope it continues

lovely bike and great work on loads of videos boys (Y)

  • WOW. i,m not really a bike guy. but i know 1.54sec is not nearly enough to show off this bike. should be 1 hour 54minutes. motorcyclenewsdotcom. you suck.

  • @santclause1 they are saving that time slot for the mighty desmo's second coming

  • i like those slider pucks

  • @itubrrr I have the same knee sliders and they are the worst sliders i ever had. They are funny to watch but damn, they are fucking soft i consume them in a couple of hours.

The best i've tried are the Berik or the Frank Thomas full titanium sliders

  • that's it??? I was expecting something longer with more details

  • @R6yam07 This. I saw the preview before and was like hell yes. I saw the title just now and said hell yes. I saw the length, and was WTF?

  • I love this bike.

  • I want one.

  • I'd rather pay £600 LESS for the nicer version in matt black. Maybe I'll be able to afford one in 45 years...

  • I love how when the release a bike it's the best bike possible. Then a week later they release a "even better" version.

  • Wow that thing looks great. Hes such a lucky bloke.

  • simply awesome! one day, i tell you ...

  • A newer one for me not to get? Awesome. I'll just settle with the normal 848 next year then.. Thanks guys!!

  • the normal 848 is already overkill for the road....

  • I "just" have the normal 848, but I loooooove it... such a great bike!

  • He's got one of the best jobs in Britain :)

  • @BikerDarren24 of europe.......

  • @BikerDarren24 nope tht would to be part of top gear

  • MCN wy not HD???

  • Dear Santa,

    For Christmas I would like........

  • @2781smithy if only
