Kristjan Geir Mathiesen was among Icelandic Latter-day Saints who traveled by car and ferry to celebrate the opening of the exhibit in July. He says the new display connects the past to the present.
Between 1854 and 1914, hundreds of Icelanders joined the Church and emigrated to Utah, where they founded the first permanent Icelandic settlement in North America. These pioneers are now remembered in a permanent museum exhibit at the Vestmannaeyjar Folk Museum on the island of Heimay in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland, called Icelandic Heritage Among the Mormons.
His activity improved dramatically. He and his family eventually moved away, but two years later I received an invitation to speak in Richards ward before he left on a mission. In his remarks that day, Richard said that the turning point in his life was when his bishop found him hiding in a grease pit and helped him to return to activity.
Ok, According to an online BYU Journal posted June 8th of 2009, they are considering a change in policy since the LDS church as posted so many videos recently on youtube. I think Nibley was referring to this kind of culture.
Clearly you have missed the point of my comment. The fact of whither or not BYU has changed their ban on youtube is irrelevant. The key is that such a culture exists in that BYU attempts to govern all aspects of student life. This is not a criticism of the LDS church. The two institutions are in many way separate in purpose and function.
You seem to be overprotective of BYU. Why do you care? It is nothing more or less than a private institution. Young personally payed up the majority of the funds. Thus the name BYU. You take the Utah Capital building. It looks like the Temple, is a few blocks away doesn't, and features memorials to great men, yet such doesn't make it holy. It is just public institution nothing more or less.
I was not wrong with the knowledge given. BYU has had a ban on Youtube and other social networking sites. I looked up the code of conduct and found no changes. Let me know of a source to verify any changes instead of just repeating the same, "Please check again".
Yes I have a problem with the folks who assume that BYU is somehow the Lord's university. There is no scriptural backing for that idea. Sorry if I assumed you were part of the misled crowd.
BUD! PAL! My comment was posted 5 days ago. The ban was lifted 3 days ago. It was true when I posted it. Even so, again you missed the point. The point was that such a policy existed in the first place.

This is such a classic talk! The description of leaders and managers is so richly descriptive, and very accurate.

Im not gonna lie, if I could have any intellectual mind of religion I would take nibleys, such a genius guy.

Hugh Nibley is the man...
I would love to be in the same room as Nibley, Legrand Richards, James E Talmage and Bruce R McConkie and just listen to them talk to each other.

Don't forget Neal A. Maxwell. I also like Robert Matthews, but still, would be great. Oh, and add, Joseph Feilding Smith. Thanks.

@1steviewonder1 why not throw in Joseph Smith Jr, Brigham Young, Orson & Parley Pratt, J. Rueben Clark, David O. Mckay, & Wilford Woodruff!

"BYU attempts to govern all aspects of student life"
that is a gross mischaracterization and exaggeration.

I agree that it is disgusting.

please do NOT jump to conclusions. Especially ones that help you look down on me.
secondly, you were wrong in what you said. I gave you the chance to correct yourself. Try NOT to take it personally.
It seems to me that if you have something against somebody or someplace you should be correct in what you write or say about them.

It was from a BYU student journal as well.

I read just today on the back of a car:
"Teach a man to fish and he will sit and drink all day long".
