  • This was the reason that I sang this Stevie Wonder song to my wife on on our wedding day!!

Calvin Lamar Brown and Shawn Anderson became 1 on June 15 1996! You and I baby!!

Michael Evans did those runs at the end of that song effortlessly! Sang Young Man Sang!

Brother you represented Stevie Wonder well on that day!! Much Love to you bruh!!

  • The preacher looks like Low-down from that documentary slippin:ten years with the bloods.

  • Who ever playin dat organ MY GOD

  • The 5 junior warlords that michael was with disliked this!

  • One of my favorite episodes! <3

  • Micheal killed it , but that organist has to go !!!

  • YOU AND I IN LOVE I LOVE YOU

  • In the words of Florida Evans - (DAMN, DAMN, DAMN). Michael sang the hell out of that song. Made me cry, AGAIN.

    Thelma looked so pretty.

Florida was doing that black momma dap on her tear ducts so not to mess up her makeup (CLASSIC)

For Wilona to live in the projects she had some nice things. They should've got on Section 8. (LOL - I know, section 8 wasn't out then).

This was one of my favorite episodes.

  • In the Words of Florida Evans "DAMN, DAMN, DAMN"....Michael sang the hell out of that song.

    Thelma looked so pretty.

Florida was doing that black woman dap on her tear ducts with the tissue(LOL)so realistic...

Wilona for her to stay in the projects, she had some nice things...lol She should've been able to get Section 8....hell all of them for real, they were low-income..(thinking outside the box) they didn't have that then...LMAO. This was one of the best episodes (Michael had me crying)

  • Michael seems like the oldschool singing version of bow wow (the now and older bow wow)

  • Still gives me the chills to hear him sing this song. He kilt it. LOL.

  • well damn! That's a voice!

  • Love it :) <3

  • Wow, I didn't remember this from when the show originally aired. Makes me miss the great shows we had then. Funny thing is it's years later and I know Ralph and he has the same great vocal quality (with a stronger voice). Wow!

  • At 3:00 CHILLS!!!

  • Sang BOI

  • Stevie Wonder and O'Bryan both sang this song and they sung it beautifully, but when Michael Evans (Ralph Carter) sung it at "Thelma's" wedding, he makes every emotion in you come out and it gets to me and makes me cry everytime I hear it. I'm from the ol school and I cried when I watched Michael sing this song on the original episode in the 70's and it still makes me cry when I hear it today. He absolutely tore this song up. And without James to share that moment with Florida was heartbreaking.

  • I Love this song everytime i hear this it makes me cry. Its a beautiful song to walk down the aisle towards the one you love this was truly one of the good times .

  • James would been so Proud like Florida was :)

  • Ralph Carter should have been a professional singer too because he can certainly sing!

  • @goldenrule999 Ralph Carter was a professional singer before, during, and after his years on Good Times. He started as a professional broadway singer, then went solo. You should check out his albums. If you notice, on the earlier episodes of Good Times, during the cast credits it says "Ralph Carter (courtesy of Raisin)". "Raisin" or "A raisin in the sun" was the broadway play that held the rights to Carter as a singer/entertainer.

  • @xlmidi I wonder how he felt about Raisin in the Sun having rights to his appearances...

  • @xlmidi Really, That was some useful information. Thank You for sharing

  • this couldve been better if james was there

  • That wedding seem 2 be real, do u get that feeling damn good seen wow

  • good song selection

  • one of the greatest episodes of alltime!!

  • Im suprised the wedding wasnt in the living room behind the couch like everything else

  • @dscot I am crackin up right now. Hahahahahahahahahahaha!

  • How many bridesmaids????

  • Michael Made me love this song

    #Goodtimes

  • Get it Michael

  • Props! He nailed it!

  • Michael did a gd job

  • Omg! I love this song.. and Michael sung the hell out of it!?!?...

  • that silk dress is still pretty on my girl thelma wedding dresses look good

    on a woman with curves

  • Ralph Carter Cant Sing For Shit!

  • @george319 Really?

  • Original version is Stevie Wonder

  • Do you see George Wallace? @ 1:46--Ha !!!

  • @MOMMYG48 I thought that was him

  • @MOMMYG48 I saw him

  • This song is hard...... its soo random.

  • that Brotha went & sang his ASS OFF, & after he was through...nobody said a damn thing & i mean NO DAMN BODY. i'm just sayin...

  • he can sing get it micheal

  • I love the way Michael sings. Amazing voice <3

  • MICHAEL KILLED THIS ONE... THIS WAS ONE OF THE GOOD TIMES

  • @Jdalas I agree, Michael definitely SANG this song!!! Beautiful pure, natural voice!

  • @Jdalas Preach...PREACH! Everytime I see this I cry.

  • I JUS LUV TO WATCH GOOD TIMES.

  • @vanitysadeparis LOL .... cute .... :-)

  • I walked down the aisle to my husband to this song, sung by Stevie Wonder of course, but I've always known I wanted to walk down the aisle to this song every since I saw this episode way back when.....I think Michael did a great job and that he has a great voice...!

  • @tricianfred You know that Michelle and Barack got married to this song as well ...and Stevie is Michelle's favorite artist of all time, she's a big Stevie fan and Barack is a big fan too.

  • @tricianfred I think this is a nice wedding song, I know I want to use Stevie at my wedding, I've always like "Ribbon In The Sky" for my wedding song as well as "The One He Kept For Me" by Maurette Brown Clark, I know that I will use that song, it describes me and my future husband completely. That song was made for us. =)

  • @vanitysadeparis Okay none of that applies to me. Also, I haven't lost control of anything. I am quite aware of the nature of people, forgiveness, who to let things go, and not be a victim. I have written about the same things in multiple books and experience them as a counselor. You have a blessed day as well. :-)

  • @vanitysadeparis If this was a subliminal shot @ me, I'd like to point out, I made a simple post abt the video and was attacked by others. I attacked, disrespected, nor cussed @ anyone in response to them posting an opinion in favor of the performance. I unfortunately was't given the same courtesy I gave to others and when personally attacked, I defended myself as I should have. So you should ask those who attacked me the question you posed about being mean and nasty on the internet. :-) Thanks.

  • @vanitysadeparis I made a simple comment directed at NO ONE and I get bombarded with expletives, disrespect, and nastiness which was not warranted. I respect others opinions to like it, why can't you all do the same? Also, you are aware this was a TV Show right? So getting her "brother" to sing, etc is irrelevant. They didnt have to get Wonder to sing, they could have however given him a song he had the skills to sing. Again my opinion. Thanks. :-)

  • @vanitysadeparis As you are coming in 3 weeks later, you missed the point. I made a simple comment that he didn't do this song justice b/c it was more advanced than his skills permitted. It was my opinion. You think he did a great job, that's your opinion and I respect that. I am not challenging ANYONE who liked it. It is others who are challenging my opinion, as if they have a mission to make me feel the same as they do.

  • This was one of my favorite episodes I think he sounds great!

  • I am glade to see that good time is alive and well. I wonder what Micheal would sound like if he were still alive today

  • Michael sound so amazingly beautiful !!!!!!!!

  • People there's no need for you all to get upset over the show. You wasn't there to write it and your comments makes you all look stupid over a sitcom from the 1970's. SMDH

  • remember when james found that $29,000, and when jj was hustling, and when her cousin gave her $10,000, and when sweet daddy tried to hook them up she always made them return the money. she sucked.

  • at 1:00 watch Florida when she sits down, she over did it with the drama and every time i see that i crack up. although i loved good times i couldn't stand Florida with her so called righteous attitude about money. they was the poorest family ever on tv and every time they had a chance of getting paid she always cock blocked, making them give back any moneys they received to be cont.

  • @mrknowitalllt1 LOL at Florida "cock blockin"

  • @theoriginalladypimp thanx, but, that's too true for words. that woman irked the hell out of me on that show.

  • @mrknowitalllt1 I agree. Florida was unrealistic about the whole situation whenever james would have a good money scheme or come-up. I would never have told her anything until shit was bought and paid for.

  • @shannonD68 real talk. i wish they would have been more realistic with the show. who the hell would turn in money they find knowing damn well they po?

  • 4 THE PEOPLE CRITICIZING MICHEAL'S SINGING, THEY ARE NEW SKOOL IDIOTS WHO THINK THAT THIS CRAP AND BAD SINGING OUT HERE TODAY IS THE FIRE. LISTEN TO MARY J., AND MOST OF THESE NON SINGING JOKERS. THEY WILL ARGUE U DOWN THAT THIS IS GOOD SINGING. REMEMBER THAT R&B IS DEAD TODAY. WHY? U ASK. THEY CAN'T SING AND THEY DON'T PLAY INSTRUMENTS. RAP CRAP ALL DAY AND NIGHT, CAUSE WHY? U ASK. THEY CAN SING. MIGHT AS WELL RAP.......

  • This is my FAVORITE episode!!!!

  • @Mongo76 - Don't hate. Appreciate. His voice was beautiful.

  • @spectra08 To hate would imply an underlying feeling of envy or jealousy as the motivation behind a statement. That does not apply here. Your comment is an example of how 2 people can have opposite opnions of the same thing. Although you are the very 1st person I have EVER heard refer to that voice as beautiful. I do not exaggerate when I say I could not stand to listen to it, I always have to turn the channel, or FF the dvd. He couldnt carry a tune in a paper bag.

  • @Mongo76 He was so awesome.

  • @Mongo76 Great comment....soooooo true!

  • @Mongo76 There was nothing out of tune about this song. Maybe you need a new pair of ears.....because the ones you're listening with are broken!!!!!!

  • @bmartley That's your tone deaf opinion. LMAO..... I'm not alone.... he could NOT sing and definitely not well enough to attempt a Stevie Wonder song.....His voice was like nails on a chalk board!!!

  • @Mongo76 Honestly who the fuck really cares about language when they comment on a video I DONT KNOW about you but I never see people put commas and proper verbs and conjunctions in their video same thing as if you were on facebook. You know I am right about Micahel Evans that is why you are talking about grammar cause you have nothting important to pick on you dumb shit. AND STOP BEING STEREOTYPICAL. FUCKING IDIOT.

please review a professional review. HAHAHAHAHA

  • @SkorpiusShow RALPH CARTER, the 24-year-old actor and singer who achieved national attention on the television series ''Good Times,'' is a pop-soul balladeer whose stylistic polish exceeds his limited vocal resources. Mr. Carter, who is appearing at Sweetwater's (170 Amsterdam Avenue, at 67th Street) through June 7, has a light baritone that can be agreeable when his voice is relaxed enough not to sound pinched and artificially manufactured.

  • @SkorpiusShow In his nightclub act, Mr. Carter relies heavily on midtempo ballads that don't demand strong rhythmic propulsion or flashy displays of dynamics.

  • @SkorpiusShow Backed by a four-piece ensemble, including synthesizer, he opened Tuesday's late show with Bobby Caldwell's 1978 hit, ''What You Won't Do For Love.'' With its tricky melismas and syncopation, the tune brought out Mr. Carter's strongest suit, a silky, sophisticated sense of narrative line. Other familiar songs in the set included the Tom Jones hit, ''She's a Lady,'' and Michael Jackson's ''Human Nature.''

  • @SkorpiusShow In other technical aspects, Mr. Carter's singing remained uneven. His phrasing lacked a powerful rhythmic drive, his voice often strayed off pitch, and his one excursion into falsetto was weak and strained.

  • @SkorpiusShow As a parting gift i had to give you the PROFESSIONAL NEW YORK TIMES REVIEW IS HIS Act and horrible out of tune voice ... LIKE I SAID.... this is the professional opinion .... HAHAHAHAHA POP: RALPH CARTER, SINGER

  • @Mongo76 As I said before I never denied that he flunked out on that one shot and I told you in sever posts earlier that people have their downfalls once or twice he was very young and he was a person whom was starting out so give him a break. I think we can all obviously agree he got a little better. I think he is awesome. But that is your opinion that he sucks. And the fact that it took you this long to find someone whom indulged in the same opinion you did is fascinating.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mongo76 Like Stevie Wonder Was like 29 in this late 20's in that time. Ralph was only 19! For a 19 year old that is damn good. You are comparing a 19 year old kid to someone who like Stevie Wonder was singing since he was 10. SHUT THE FUCK UP MAN. for a 19 year old Ralph Carter is pretty good. And you can see the effort so respect that. jerk.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mongo76 Okay, actually after Good Times he had alot of opportunities he just didnt take it. For personal reasons and that is fine. But in this song majority say it is good so respect that. And we will respect you. On this video it is 98 LIKES VS 1 DISLIKE which is probably you moron. So get a life and stop trashing others. As if you can sing better. HA!

  • Comment removed

  • @Mongo76 I can deal with opinions but what I can't deal with is no matter if you think someone sucks or is good you still should respect the fact that the tried instead of tottally insulting him. Everyone has bad records even fro their first one. Michael Jackson as an artist made many errors before he got it right as a litttle kid as well. So that doesnt mean someone sucks. And majority says he doesn't. So I am taking my advice as to respecting someones art for teh good or bad which you aren't

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @Mongo76 I understand you can't stand it and that is okay. Just respect it and shutup.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mongo76 Okay first of all I told you to respect others work which you clearly wouldnt because if you did you wouldnt be talking to me. And I am not trying to challenge your opinion all I am saying is respect this person's work. And I am not controlling what you say, say it but say it with a bit of decency. As to having respect which your elders should have taught you years ago. CASE CLOSED. stop talking to me.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mongo76 You have no reason to be trashing others talents when you clearly yourself cant do any bettter. And yes I have been respecting people's talents because if I didnt I wouldnt be making jerkass comments like you did.

  • @Mongo76 I did present a lot of valid points but there are a lot of dumbasses like you whom fail to see it.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mongo76 Better to be a witty fool than a foolish wit, jack ass. You are the only one who thinks that which means you must have a demented mind of some sort there is only one dislike and that is only you. And this was done in a live audience Good Times is always done in a live audience so if he did horribly they would have probably not liked it. And the director would probably have not let him sing it.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mongo76 Okay Obviously Good Times was done for an audience you dumbass cause Esther Rolls in the previous seasons would say " This has been done in front of a live audience". So yes it was. And just because it happened before I was born doesnt mean I dont know nothing about it. MLK's events may have happened before you were born but you must certainly know about it. Same thing applies here.

  • @Mongo76 What do you mean I know nothing about the show. I know more about african american sitcoms then you will or can in your entire life. I have more knowledge about them in my pinky finger then you have in your whole brain. As the old saying goes Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover same thing applies here.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mongo76 How the fuck is good times your own history. And did I say I knew more than your own history no? Learn to read this properly I said just because I am young doesnt mean that I dont know about african american history and to not judge a book by it's cover which you do alot. Did I say you didnt know anything and you were wrong about how Good Times never had an audience cause they did and sometimes they would outburst on stage. SO DANCE U DUMB MONKEY.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @Mongo76 So I watched good times too and you have to admit you were wrong that how they dont have an audience. Listen, Dumb Dumb. ALL NORMAN LEAR sitcoms have LIVE audiences even The Jeffersons. And I never said I knew more than you or you knew less you said that and tried to put that in my mouth. SO DANCE CLOWN.

  • Comment removed

  • @Mongo76 No it was also Ester Rolls. Since John Amos got fired after Season 3 from the show. And big deal you knew what I meant.

  • @SkorpiusShow Her name was Esther ROLLE for the second time not ROLLS. John Amos didn't get fired. He left the show for the same reason Esther did but they convinced her to come back.

  • @Mongo76 Fired, quit honestly at the end it is all the same you are unemployed.

  • @SkorpiusShow HE PLAYED KUNTA KINTE in ROOTS one of the BIGGEST and most watched miniseries EVER .... LOL he wasnt unemployed. The Show DIED without him becasue HE and Esther carried it. then ratings DROPPED OUT after he died. No one wanted to see JJ's perpetual coonery week after week

  • Comment removed

  • @SkorpiusShow " I know more about african american sitcoms then you will or can in your entire life. I have more knowledge about them in my pinky finger then you have in your whole brain"

Now you are resorting to lying and denials. SMH .... Those were YOUR words.

  • @Mongo76 I am one of the only people of my generation whom have took part in watching and admiring these kind of shows. I am an extinct specie there is no one of my age who watches these shows and you better be damn thankful you got the very FEW people like myself

  • @SkorpiusShow You have been fun but I exercise the control and effectively end dialogue. You will probably try to play the disrepectful brat showing you can spell expletives, the sign of a limited vocabulary. As I expect you will continue to speak and cuss like the bratty kid you are until you feel foolish with no reply ....You are predictable. So go ahead and leave your mark as the foul mouthed immature kid and everyone will see your legacy. Buh Bye..

  • One of the groomsmen was comedian, George Wallace.

  • Daaaaaaam I missed this episode???!! where the hell was I?!! lol and I thought I saw them all when i was a lil kid lol, I always thought michael evans would have made a great cruise ship lounge singer, he's got Wayne Newton kind of outgoing personality ya know. even still like that today he's still like that from the few times i've seen him on TV. Nice clean voice.

  • Every since I first seen this on Good Times I have said if I was to get married it would be to this song I still get chills each and everytime I hear this .. I am not married yet but just maybe one day I can enjoy this on my special day ...

  • man i wish i was marrying Thelma!!! lol but i digress lol
