  • LYON VILLE LUMIÈRE

  • The part with the dog was pretty riveting.

  • SEQUEL!

  • If this ever comes into the nearest cinema, I won't hesitate to spend my 16 dollars on a 46 second movie. *Cries*

  • The plot is too complex.

  • The woman in the hat has a nice rack.

  • HD?

  • I liked the part when the workers were leaving

  • @RulerOFmany That part is good, no doubt. But the part with the dog and the bicycle...and the other bike, and the horses at the end; heady stuff.

  • @RulerOFmany hahaha

  • there's even a dog.

  • Holy shit....they are walking out of the factory....Oh my god...what an epic film. Cant wait for the sequel, "Workers Entering The Factory" :O

  • @MrQueenie Actually the sequel is "Workers Entering Your Mother"

  • @MrQueenie D'you wanna go back to 1895 and try your hand at filming something? Do you know how amazing this would have looked to a 19th Century audience? No? Okay.

  • But there is no audio!! xD

  • Beautyfull....

    :)

  • Où est le son ? Ces individus étaient bien silencieux, à l'époque...

  • C'est un film Muet ;)

  • @mathildamathilda07 Effectivement.

  • We are only able to see 100 years in the past this way but in 1000 years people will have the opportunity to see us how we were today, becoz our movies today will give a little peek for the people of tommorow. I really wish I was born 1000 years later from now :(

  • @Wintendows Still, you must consider the fact that you will then have almost no knowledge at all of the ancient time that we speak of today, since they will speak of the time that we live now as ancient.

That's kind of scary to think of as well..

  • @Xeedra so true

  • if you like to see the cinema history watch *BIRTH OF CINEMA* in youtube and enjoy.

  • ROFL ;D i like the dogggggg

  • soooo...... when's it comin out on blu-ray???

  • " dude get a better camera " lol joking =4

  • whats up with that guy at 00:35 who seems to be swacking at the people randomly with his newspaper? what a jerk

  • Did you guys hear? Warner Bros. is rebooting the "Workers Leaving the Factory" franchise! I can't wait!

  • un doux parfum de rétro

  • I liked the bit where the french people left the factory

  • niesamowite...

  • @EDDIE90510 this is the first movie ever made! Of course it's ridiculous. The Lumiere brothers were trying out their new invention for the first time. It's not like they planned a screenplay or anything. Jeez.

  • @EDDIE90510 If you had seen that in the 1800s you would crap your pants.

  • Amazing to see this clip on YouTube. Thanks for the loader!

  • I'm an American. So what's the problem? I think many people from all over the world may think and wonder the same thing as dogeymon. In just a few generations most of us will be forgotten in history and our names will be lost. It's just a fact. I don't see what being an American has to do with it.

  • dogeymon - you are american, right? that would explain this bewilderment....

more used to taylor lautner, hanna montana and all that I guess.

  • this is the VERY FIRST cinematographic movie ever made. By the Lumière brothers. This almost stupid movie was the beginning of every of your favorite films so big respect for this!!!!!

  • I'm waiting for the director's commentary.

  • Fantastic:) History on YouTube

  • Il primo film della storia

  • @dogeymon83 memento-mori on movies and fotographie's born and history are explainned by Burch. If you dont understand what i just said is because my english is bad...

  • So much better than Avatar.

  • @hadar1g Anything is much better than Avatar.

  • Ah, it's a French brothel breaking for lunch. I wonder what the hell they used the dog and the man on the bike for?

  • I think this is the first take, they had to repeat it cause that dog at the end ruined the shot

  • good to konw that some ppls made that hard work "back in the days" so that we got hot asian porn and you tube now =)

yehr, best thing is the internet. gives you all you need =))

  • i have little interest in cameras but this is creepy. theyre all dead by now

  • @gameplaya117 haha, i just thought exactly the same thing!

  • @gameplaya117 Yeah that's weird, and when you find a beautiful woman in an old movie, all you can say is "yep but she is dead now"

    strange feeling

  • Man, they had a lot of hats back then.

  • that last comment was @ Itsmeyursister btw..

  • Of course they were told. They're all wearing their Sunday best!

  • lol alot of woman workers in a factory i hope they weren't tom boys :p

  • wtf

  • women couldn't do much else back then... bringing in extra money for the family meant doing labor jobs since real female intelligence wasn't quite in fashion yet.

  • 1895

  • Just imagine: This is an almost ancient era captured on film forever. Everyone in this film is dead. They all don't exist anymore, and we'll never know anything about any one of them personally. It makes me wonder about my own mortality and how one day, I'll be long dead, and perhaps be someone captured on a video. Problem is, no one will care about mine. Sad almost.

    Haunting to think about.

  • Your comment will still be here :)

  • Nah. 100 years, this video will be gone. Youtube vids get deleted and uploaded alllll the time.

Would be crazy though, if Youtube is still around when I'm old, and someone responds to my comment that says, "(71 years, 2 months, 4 hours ago) HAHAHAHA!

  • lol yea :p

  • Hahaha of course not, thats impossible, youtube delete comments after certain periods :p

But i dont think this movie will be EVER gone and not in 100years...yes, maybe from youtube but it'll be on the succesorss of the internet, AND this vid, which is part of mankind heritage, will be in the archives for ever!

  • the same feelings. thanx...

  • write a diary

  • @dogeymon83 you just blew my mother fucking mind!

  • @urbanexplorer1996 - Well I think I didn't mean one thing. They don't exist. They DO still exist, just somewhere else.

  • @dogeymon83 yea but still that was a great comment

  • @dogeymon83 I will remember you. always. Because I am as moved by this as you are, and every time I will think of this, I will most likely remember what you wrote. everyone has a purpose. All just as important as the rest.:)

  • and the workers were told they were going to be filmed

  • its the first film to ever be screened, 1895 - the lumiere brothers used their invention called the cinematograph, a portable, three-in-one device which worked as a camera, printer, and projector

  • no worry how to manage all these croud, at that time they don't even knew they were filmed :)

    PS : I live in Lyon :p

  • This was the first film ever. People will be paying millions to see it, mate and we are watching it for free. Thanks!!

  • Tottaly true

  • wow imagine how hard it was to mke this im studying the brothers and the beginning of cinematographe

  • studying media...

this film is quite amazing really. :)

  • Cool we are using this in a school project. This is being one of the main things. :)

  • 1st ever movie!

  • It's not the first, but it's awsome :O

The first was made by Louis Le Prince, "Roundhay Garden Scene"

    :P

  • Comment removed

  • this is considered the first motion picture, the roundhay scene is a small group of photos that creates a 2 second 'scene' - but its impossible i suppose, to decide what really is the first.... you could call the horse trotting film the first....
