I had the pleasure of meeting David Arkenstone a few days ago at a RenFest. He and his band of merry men (and a woman) were incredible onstage, and he was just as down to earth as could be offstage. My respect and admiration for the man increased a thousand times over after meeting him. A true artist, and a gentleman.
Very cool! David Arkenstone is easily one of my top 5 favorite artists. Very inspiring stuff! I love the part in this vid when he draws his sword and then points to his men behind the enemy.
One thing I have always loved about Davids music he he paints such a clear picture with his music. His music never needs a video. Just the title and the music and I can see everything in my mind
Shot it in 8 hours + edited it in 6 hours + FX done in one day + friends instead of actors + 350.00 costume/prop budget + we brought our own lunches = Not Pirates of the Caribbean. Sorry. Not Hollywood, not claimin' ta be. Just having fun. Hope you can enjoy it as much as we did anyway! "Nice try" is a compliment. Thanks!
Nice try but it comes off as very amateur & "ren-fayre." Bits were shot well, but people running around directionless. got tiresome. Then there's the hotch-potch of clothing & weaponry from all periods. They had the decency to look sheepish. As for the music. Its true like writing that particularly melodies will sound the same occasionally. If POTC was inspired by Arkenstone then okay. It doesn't mean he's been ripped off.
Arkenstones music is light & listenable, but not enough guts for me.
i now see where the composers for Pirates of the Caribean got their ideas from. Tht suck tht they couldnt come up with sumthing original. Why cant people come up with their own ideas!!?? I kno he was not one of the composers for Pirates!!
@KendranAnthony2009 I don't think your comments on pirates are entirely fair for a number of reasons.
1. Music continues to recurr everywhere, the scientific reason being that everything composed is made up of sounds (natural or composed) combined in a different way.
2. This bears similarities to many irish tunes for example, so when Klaus Badelt (pirates composer) tries to draw an irish pub feel, of course it will feel the same.
3. It is common to use 3/4 -> 12/8 to moving and beautiful.
Well, all I can say is we had a lot of fun making this video. That's really all we wanted to do, is have fun, and hopefully, it shows! It was never meant to be 'high art, and a lot of people enjoyed it. We're musicians, after all! I always wanted to be Robin Hood since I was a kid, so here was my chance!
Compared to some of what I've seen held up as "art," Mr. Arkenstone, you can be quite proud; the imagery is vivid and beautiful, and the Story is clear. And, as always, your music is inspiring, captivating, and majestic.
Art is what we do for the love of doing it; it is not a standard to be measured.
true, but 1) they probly didnt want to harm eachother in the making of it, and or 2) they didnt practice with swords and or 3) they probly wernt using real swords, so they broke easily.
I love David Arkenstone... Well, I dunno a sing fact about him! Buuuut. I love his music! This is one of my favorites next to Over the Hills and The Festival :)
Excellent recommendation. Enaid is the husband-and-wife team of David and Diane Arkenstone, and, as stirring as David's music is, Enaid's music is haunting. And just as soul-touching.
Look for the album Avalon: a Celtic Legend; the track Road to Camelot is on it.
I guess this is an official video, because David Arkenstone itself is playing Robin Hood :) At least I can definitely hear 'Little John'... No, perhaps it is not a fairy-tale, but a piece of some text about Robin Hood adventures. By the way, I've found the explanation of the title:
Seated with his back against the trunk of a fallen elm was Robin... ...a short month ago he was not an outlaw, a "wolf's-head" as the phrase was, whom any law-abiding man could slay and get a reward for his head.
David Arkenstone is one of my favoured musicians. The video is good and it fits the song - the fighting scenes however are too scenic and theatrical - it is obvious that fighters tend not to hurt each other. But the overall impression was very warming and positive :) Thanks guys!
Sounds a bit like "Pirates of the Caribbean"

the music is really good and is the video about robin hood? because the video looks like robin hood

@ThrashMetalGuy An outlaw was referred to as a "wolf's head" back then, in some areas. That's what the video is about--so Robin Hood is a good guess.

Hmm, the voice on the background seems to be telling some fairy-tale... But my English is too bad to hear what exactly he says :-(
If someone understands the 'lyrics', please inform me :-)

There's a voice? Wow, did I completely miss something listening to this? I'd gladly help you, but I didn't hear it. Huh...
Great video! is this an official, or fanmade? It's quite well done.
