Thank you for making the english subtitles. The animation is amazing, it has that trace of wildness which fit the atmosphere of the story welI. I also like the cat's voice, she is indeed a wise cat.
I remember from my childhood Russian animations on Polish TV, they used to scare me as hell at the time, but at the same time there was something very touching and moving about them if I was only not to afraid to watch. What I remember was a little child going through scary forest and other story of disabled boy on a wheelchair who went out to the playground, other children laughing at him and teasing him. Do you remember anything like this?
wow, thanks for the introduction, great stuff! Were any of the production staff also part of the russian team that did the HBO shakespeare for kids animations around the same time, ~1992-ish?
Looking at the animator(dot)ru profile of the film, it appears that some did indeed work on the Shakespeare adaptations. One of the 2 cinematographers, Vikhanskiy, also worked on "The Tempest", as did animator Olga Panokina, & puppet-designers Mikhail Koltunov, Aleksandr Maksimov, Vladimir Alisov, Anna Vetukova, Nikolay Zaklyakov, Nina Moleva, Oleg Massainov, Natalia Barkovskaya, Natalia Grinberg, & Vladimir Abbakumov. Sound director Sergei Karpov worked on "Midsummer night's Dream".
It seems that, for the most part, the people behind the puppets mostly went on to work on the Shakespeare series (there was precious little other work for them at the time), while some dropped out of the profession altogether. The animators, meanwhile, split up and went in many directions - some working for Garri Bardin's Stayer Studio, or Christmas Films, or Argus International, or Master Film, or VGIK, going wherever the wind took them, some continuing to work for Soyuzmultfilm for a time...
I think it's probably true that it's aimed at older (or at least more mature) viewers. Judging by the age in your profile, you would've been 4 years old when this came out, so I'm not too surprised that you hated it.
I wouldn't call the animation bad, though; I actually think that it's quite amazing a lot of the time.
I hate people that are so prejudice, so I guess your children are better watching capitalistic creepy shows like telatubbies? I think Russian cartoons are 100% better!
So this is part 2? Where's part 1 then?

This is really an obscure cartoon but there is something really catchy about the story-line as well. Weird but interesting.

I don't, sorry. "child (or childlike animal) going through scary forest" is a pretty widespread theme, though.

My mom sometimes tells me about this cartoon. She was little girl, when she used to watch it on Polish TV.
That's all or you will put 3rd part? It looks like unfinished...

Read the little blurb of text on your right; the full film can be viewed on Google Video.

Why can't you put up a hardsubbed full version on youtube?
KinoHermesJourney 2 years ago
I could, I just thought it was unneeded, since it can be seen on Google Video anyway without any breaks.

Thank you for taking the time to add English subtitles! I enjoyed this very much! The story is beautifully woven and imaginatively animated =)

This was one of those 80s cartoons that was aimed at adults rather than kids. I hated this cartoon. It was too dark and gloomy and animation was bad.
