The first just MAY have slipped down leg stump, and the second MAY have brushed the bat before hitting the pad. Excellent umpiring. Better than Bucknor.
In fairness, the first may have pitched outside the off stump (good shout though) but the 2nd was OUT!! Never mind Aus, I remember Danny Morrison getting turned down by the Aussie ump when he trapped Mike Whitney, or was it Rackemann, plumb. Would've won us the test, as it was the last wicket....
Rather than 'worst' umpire i would call it more like Biased umpiring. I mean his body language suggest that he pre-planned to give not out but he knew that those were out (specially second).

Once Chris Broad was given LBW in Pakistan, hit wide of the off stump you could see daylight between his pad and the off stump. The ball wouldn't have hit a fourth stump on that side.
The Aussies need talk though in 1970-71 in six tests Oz v England not one single aussie was given out LBW, 12 innings. England took 99 wickets but not a single LBW. As well snicks to the keeper, stumpings and run outs weren't given out by the umpires so it was a tremendous effort for England to win 2-0.
@JemMackie Yes but in 1970/71 how many plumb lbw's were turned down? All good to mention that England didn't get any lbw's but i haven't ever read any match reports or players themselves complaining about plumb lbw's that are turned down. I have extensive footage of that test series, and I don't see any problems.
@robelinda2 Illingworth complained most of the time about the lack of LB's. Later on he said that Oz umpires were among the worst in the world which in those days wasn't flattering, Paki's west Indians etc.
In one test the umpires refused England the roller between innings !! Illy showed them the rule book later on and they appologised.
@robelinda2 I almost forgot the Stackpole run out incident from one of the tests where he was clearly run out by a yard. The umpire said later, well he might have been a yard out or a yard in I gave him the benifit of the doubt. Later on in test 6 Boycott was marginally in and was given run out, he made it worse by throwing his bat down. Photo's later showed he was in and certainly should have been given the benifit of the doubt. He got 119 not out in the second innings.

The first just MAY have slipped down leg stump, and the second MAY have brushed the bat before hitting the pad. Excellent umpiring. Better than Bucknor.

In fairness, the first may have pitched outside the off stump (good shout though) but the 2nd was OUT!! Never mind Aus, I remember Danny Morrison getting turned down by the Aussie ump when he trapped Mike Whitney, or was it Rackemann, plumb. Would've won us the test, as it was the last wicket....
It's one of the perks of playing at home.

Rather than 'worst' umpire i would call it more like Biased umpiring. I mean his body language suggest that he pre-planned to give not out but he knew that those were out (specially second).

@TheHindostani It wasnt fixed idiot. but was non-neutral (biased) umpiring. Happened in 70's , 80's, 90's and even early 2000's. It wasn't limited to Pakistan but Aus, Eng, Ind and many others were part of it. If you remember it was indeed a Pakistani who promoted and encouraged Neutral umpiring. It was Imran Khan.

@bulltiger18 Indeed mate. He was great and his idea to promote neutral umpiring was brilliant. Otherwise home teams would still have like a 95%+ Win ratio at home and Cricket would be boring.

@bulltiger18 I am glad to hear that. I am a Pakistani and if there ever was a team i envy-ed the most was Aus (in a good way). They dominated world cricket for more than 12 years (3 World Cup back to back) and that was quite amazing under Ponting.

Once Chris Broad was given LBW in Pakistan, hit wide of the off stump you could see daylight between his pad and the off stump. The ball wouldn't have hit a fourth stump on that side.
The Aussies need talk though in 1970-71 in six tests Oz v England not one single aussie was given out LBW, 12 innings. England took 99 wickets but not a single LBW. As well snicks to the keeper, stumpings and run outs weren't given out by the umpires so it was a tremendous effort for England to win 2-0.

@JemMackie Yes but in 1970/71 how many plumb lbw's were turned down? All good to mention that England didn't get any lbw's but i haven't ever read any match reports or players themselves complaining about plumb lbw's that are turned down. I have extensive footage of that test series, and I don't see any problems.

@robelinda2 Illingworth complained most of the time about the lack of LB's. Later on he said that Oz umpires were among the worst in the world which in those days wasn't flattering, Paki's west Indians etc.
In one test the umpires refused England the roller between innings !! Illy showed them the rule book later on and they appologised.

@robelinda2 I almost forgot the Stackpole run out incident from one of the tests where he was clearly run out by a yard. The umpire said later, well he might have been a yard out or a yard in I gave him the benifit of the doubt. Later on in test 6 Boycott was marginally in and was given run out, he made it worse by throwing his bat down. Photo's later showed he was in and certainly should have been given the benifit of the doubt. He got 119 not out in the second innings.
