HI , I just bought a f650gs 2009 and would like to change the tires for on and off roads. I want soething that will work well on road but enough grip to go off road kinda like in this video . Any sugestions? Thanks from Canada
For asfalt/tarmac and easy off road tracks, like the video ;) the Metzeler Tourance is perfect ( I love these tires ). Also the Michelin T66 (standard tires) will do. You can do at least 10K miles with them.
For sand or dirt go for the Continental TKC80. Had a 650GS before tpp, a fun bike and easy to play with, suspension is worth changing.
Suggestion: buy a tiregauge and measure every time. Off-road you can lower your tirepressure a bit.
I ride in the Ardennes all that time on my Monster. Having done most of the roads in the Alps on it,,,I've decided to trade the Ducati in for a more suitable tourer for this years trip. Thinking about the new Tenere... Where did you find these trails in the Ardennes? Possible for you to give me some directions please? Nice video,,,by the way!!
This was an offroad weekend trying to avoid tarmac. Starting from Maastricht we folowed the canal (Prins Albert ??) We had to ride trhough Liege and then headed to La Roche en Ardenne for a night camping. Next day heading to Hotton and Durbuy.
I picked my trail by my GPS, looking for small roads, but if I saw an interesting turn I took it. We never had to turn back!
Maybe I am. ride a GS before I knew of Ewan and Charlie (seems they are some starts in the UK) But they give me the last push to do so. Besides this video I crossed China, Mongolia, Russia to home in 70 days
(even made a detour to limey country to see a pile of rocks called stonehedge)
Why do morons like you always ruin an otherwise positive post with your smart-assed commentary? Seems pervasive these days...nothing but snotty comments. They make a great bike, he's enjoying his adventure rides, he's obviously capable. Why be such a dick?
Gotta love GS's! Can't wait to move from my over congested state to somewhere where I could ride a GS the way it should be ridden. Thanks for the post.
