Great to see someone with a video of a crony in use.
I have these crony's also, when I quote my shooting on the forums these AK lovers always blabber on and on I don't know what I am taking about when I've done test with 7.62x39.
Every AK lover soildly belives the AK is some super hand held cannon !
@Hincesti07 Lol, I see you have meet the Ak fanboys too! They never speak with any fact, they just parrot stuff they hear and read. Thanks for the comment
So does the 5.45 continue to tumble out to 600 yards (supposed effective range)? That would be an advantage over the 5.56, which needs to be above a certain velocity to be effective. Nice video, thanks for posting. I can't wait for more manufacturers to come out with commercial 5.45 loads (Hornady just did apparenly, so the ball is rolling) and some reloading stats/equipment! Then we'll see the real accuracy of this round.
@ImWatchinTheTube, Thanks for the comment. Im not sure what effect velocity has on the 5.45 ability to tumble. In the test i have done I have been very pleased with its accuracy, penetration, and terminal effects. I have a video up on the Hornady V-Max, I think you will enjoy. It shows its terminal effects, they are impressive.
@ImWatchinTheTube The 5.45 and it's design does not require a specific range or velocity in order for it to tumble and yaw. It will tumble and yaw when shot from 8.5" barrel or 20+" barrels regardless. I would surmise that the only loss would be in penetration of hard cover when shot from a shorter barrel.
@SupremeAmerican It was 2796 Fps, 2791 Fps,2815 Fps for the 5.45x39 60 Gn. Not 3800 fps Still not to shabby. BTW what does your 62Gn 5.56x45 run ? That is if you know for sure...yl
@ylism I guess it depends what kinda gun u got, if it's an AR platform u might wanna stick to the brass cased PMC, if u run a garand action like the mini14 which is what i run, it eats everything up equally :)
@SupremeAmerican Not what I was asking about. I was asking witch ammo is best to shoot of those you have used. Brass case ammo is best period. No matter the type of action being used. I have used most typesof AR/ M16 -HK's- M1's- M-14. AK 47/74-Cetme-Mini 14-. HK/Cetme's type actions don't like steel case ammo. They pull the case heads off ect. Most Chrome lined chambers /SS handle steel better then those not CL or SS. 5.56 steel lacquered rds had some problems in AR's. Poly works better.
@ylism Uh. i've shot tula, silverbear, pmc, american eagle. The cheapest is tula and it works just fine, does the same exact thing the others do. Uh... in my mini, the only diff is it flings brass about 25 feet, and it only flings steel about 20 feet i guess. Never had a problem with any of it. All does the same thing. PMC smells funny tho.
@keithallenlaw Besides the cost is it accurate?Because there is an AR-15 that S&W makes and it shoots the 5.45x39 so i was thinking should i get an AR-15 that shoots 5.45x39 or the original 5.56x45?
@Humberto4790 Not as accurate but cheaper. Considering that the cheaper 5.45 are corrosive surplus rounds, I'll somewhat retract my earlier statement. BUT the 5.45 is more deadlier because of the tumbling and sprawling. Nasty round.
@Ilia1138 I thought that was pretty good velocity. We have supply of 30 year old milsurplus ammunition here in U.S. I dont know what new ammunition would do. This is not the same as what is being used today by Russia and other Army's.
@jetfuel545 Yeah I'm so glad one of my buddy's broke down and bought a chrony. Now I get first round hits at 1000 yards with a 100 yard zero. See latest video.
@MrSurgicalPrecision Once I started shooting past 300, I had to make the investment. Picked this one up thru midway right around $70. Could not be happier.
ok now what about psi and how much each tumbles once inside the target?

The Silver Bear is slower but it's also heavier than the 7n6. Thanks for taking the time to do this video.

Thank you for spending time and money on this.
Iv seen 5.56 (Nato Mil) chrono'd at 17ms-1 faster than 5.45 Russian surplus at about 8 or 9 feet but that was a 20" M16 vs an AK74

@jetfuel545 What has more stopping power? The 5.45x39 or the 5.56x45?
Humberto4790 10 months ago
@Humberto4790 Depends what bullet is being used. In ft lb of energy and bullet weight they are pretty much equal.
jetfuel545 10 months ago
@Humberto4790 The 5.56 has more stopping power...in your wallet. The 5.45 is hard to beat when considering the cost.

@keithallenlaw One more question.Which one has lower recoil?
Humberto4790 8 months ago
@Humberto4790 5.45 has more stopping power its called THE POISON BULLET because it turns and spins more inside the target than the 5.56
realogre32 8 months ago
@realogre32 Yeah you know there is a 5.56 round called the Mk262 that puts any 5.45 round to shame.

@stewpidaso26 Right about 15 feet. Its different for different calibers. The more muzzle blast the farther away you need to be. Thanks for watching
