SGU is awesome. To all the nay-sayers who think it's too dark & emotional compared to SG1 & SGA and the old cast was more fun, all I gotta say is this: If you took the crew of either SG1 or SGA and put them in a "Flying coffin" like the Destiny, they'd be acting the same way. It's not like they never joke around, there's humor in the banter among the crew if you actually pay attention.
Working together with Asguard or even SHAKKA the pre goa úld THAT was a good message teaching viewers not to only fear alien live But to try and make friendship Which could lead to friendly behaviour may they come to us for real one day In SGU we learn to fear alien live which will result in us fearing alien life ones they come for real Governments have been working on ufo's for years They wanna turn them lose and scare us to put even more laws on us watch?v=AW5x-nykjO8 SGU is helping brainwash
With ACTION i don't mean shooting everything up btw I liked the episodes where SGA,SG-1 helped less advanced people And i liked the SGA technologies That made me think about possible new inventions in the future On a lost ship you don't meet new races cos you move away all the time So they wont get new friends along the way Wont find new myths to solve All the same people and their daily crap Exploration is about finding new places and make use of them SGU has non SG was Sci Fi Indiana Jones

i think people need to look at it the same way like you look at star trek, there also every series had it's more or less main theme ... TOS was cheesey and provocative for its time (and still the best), TNG had mostly character-stuff but some action from time to time, DS9 was lost through out the first 2 seasons and then all about war and VOY just plain wired, with occasionaly good episodes and lots off BOOM in it ...
Science Fiction isn't all about action sequences. Do any of you even understand Science Fiction? SGU brings a unique perspective on Sci-Fi and the Stargate series. Stop comparing SGU to the previous Stargate series, it's meant to be different, be refreshing. I love it.

most people don't understand that "Action-Adventure" and "Science-Fiction" are 2 different genres... you can mix them, and make a sci-fi with full of action, but sci-fi itself is about technology and fiction... not "boom-boom-boom"...

I think that you will get more action now that things are somewhat settled more. I can't understand all the ranting about the drama or lack of action when all they have done is correctly convey the atmosphere you would feel if you were stuck in this situation.
Obviously it is a big departure from SG1 and Atlantis but everyone needs to realize that they have done a great job of focusing on what would really matter if you were stranded in the middle of space.

SG-1 was adventure, we all know it, and from the outset Universe was meant to be darker, edgier, less about the shit we all ready know and more about how the characters survive in such an environment.

Don't ever assume you speak for the entire fanbase ever again. I have never been more engrossed into the stargate world. It is FANTASTIC.
Here's a rule of thumb, that serves me quite well. If you don't like it, LEAVE.
