  • I like this song. My name's Julia =)

  • I think it rediculous that people keep searching for leaks or strains of his father in Sean. This is a beautiful treat to listen to. A song his father wrote from the heart, played by his own child is a full circle moment. I think if he was here to witness it John would weep a mix of pride and pain. We should think on the gem of the moment that such an artistic sensitive soul never got to hear. It reached me all the way through.

  • haha awesome he made a couple of arrangements of his own on the guitar

  • @sgtpeppers94 Julia - the song, that is - is written for both Julia Lennon and Yoko. The line "Ocean Child calls me" is a reference to what Yoko's name means in Japanese - Ocean Child. The song was written when he'd just go to know Yoko.

  • I find it funny that YouTube's auto-detect audio thought this was John.

  • I think he does NOT ressemble John, and he doesn't have the voice either, perhaps if he sung it in japanese, he has some strange sound in his vocals...I can't describe it. He has Yoko's sounds...kinda...

  • I like him better without the beard he has now, he looks a lot like his Dad this way.

  • He should sing Imagine!!!

  • awwwwwwwww

  • John would be so proud of Sean...

  • Gorgeous...absolutely gorgeous.

  • Sounds Like His Father, and Looks Abit Like Him Without The Long Hair..L0L!! May He Rest in Peace.

  • Would be nice to hear Sean's guitar picking with Julian's voice. Now THAT'S John living on. Sean only sounds his best when playing John's songs. Sorry, but that's the truth of it.

  • My favorite Beatles song and probably the most appropriate song Sean could have covered considering the story that it was written to John's deceased Mother about Yoko.

  • Im not just saying this because of yoko, but i prefer Julian ♥

im sure John is very proud of what both of his sons have achived (:

  • this is the most near i know bout john & i'm in love ♥

  • Wow Sean. Dedicated to Yoko? Are you serious? You're a great guy.

  • Even when I don't like Yoko Ono at all, this is a really touching video and song. :)

  • @LostJester0 John wrote this song for both his mother Julia and Yoko Ono "Ocean Child" is for Yoko because her name is Japanese translates quite literally to "ocean child"

  • John dedicated this song to his mother Julia, with a reference to Yoko (the "ocean child" -- the English translation of Yoko's name) in the lyrics.

Sean now dedicates this song to her mom Yoko.

  • sean looks very much like john, but musically seems to be much more influenced by yoko; julian on the other hand, is his father's son.

  • its ok nice tribute to his mum and john's mum go sean !

  • John wrote this song for his wife. Julian sang it on the Beatles special. Sean sang it for John's mom. Julian was related to Sean Lennon based on his association with Yoko and the rest of the group. I hope that makes sense.

  • @sjk72 no it doesnt. and the song is about john lennon's mother not his wife.

  • Julian is much more like John in many ways.

  • This song dedicated to Yoko because John Lennon wrote this for Yoko...listen to the lyrics - "Ocean Child calls me"

Ocean Child - that meaning in English Japanese word "Yoko"

  • @bobthekeys

the song is for his mother, not for yoko.

  • @OropherThranduil

please learn more about John and Yoko, after that you will see about who this song.

This is story which John tell to his mother about Yoko.

  • @bobthekeys

she's mentioned, but the song was for his mother.

  • @OropherThranduil

for both - Julia and Yoko. That's why Sean said this.

  • Sorry, but Sean really got Yoko's terrible voice... Julian on the other hand sounds a lot like John! - and one more thing; the song is about John's mother, so why should he dedicate it to Yoko... Grrr.....

  • @stefanienoerholm cuz they both want to express feelings for their mum? dah...

  • WHY DID HE DEDICATE IT TO YOKO ONO?

  • touching performance

  • rip john lennon ur son is wonderful

  • This is wonderful. He just sounds like John but a little bit squeaky. :)

  • don't forget who his mother is...

  • that's some nice guitar picking there...i hope he passed the audition

  • @dwdeclare I think John would think so

  • Made me cry .

  • John>Sean>Julian

  • He played a nice smooth guitar.

  • @bellabeth2010 if you want that the world compares to you with your dad is your problem.. let him be!! peace

  • @SirBentley3000 lol yes!

  • This is so powerful. Love him, love this song.

  • i dedicate this song to a girl ive known for a few days, we have a lot in common and ive grown really fond of her. Her name is also julia and it makes me think of her :)

  • @Michaelwaters123 Right on brother

  • WOW! he sounds like john. unbelievable.

  • dedicated to his mom???

    she`s his grandmom!

  • @k0stil doesn't matter who it was written about, he dedicated it to his mother...

dedication and who the song is about are 2 different things

  • @theshakl- and, of course, Sean never met Julia.

  • it's about his grandmother, julia lennon. She died when john was 17. This is what brought john and paul close as teens; the loss of their mothers.

  • What a pity Julian wouldn't have played this show - he'd have smoked just about everyone there. Kevin Spacey was best in show, and he's just an actor so that says a lot.

  • Sean is the son of John and Yoko. On the album Double Fantasy there are numerous references to him. The song "Beautiful Boy" is about Sean. Julian Lennon is the older son (from Cynthia).

  • son of John and Yoko.

Julian is the son of John and Cynthia

  • Dad would be proud, Sean. You've done him great justice<3

  • just like your dad

  • i almost cried listening to this.

  • very nice!

  • beatiful!

  • Wonderful,Sean.

  • it's fantastic song

  • god, he looks so clean, so diff!

  • Well done Sean, im sure theres a very proud dad rockin in the heaven above us, saying, "thats my boy" !!!!!

  • I like how you play the guitar, you are the best, congratulations dear sean

  • I think the song would've sounded more familiar if he had the think liverpool accent.

  • @DanM25456 it'll never ever be the same, though good idea!!

  • QUE LINDO T.T

  • He really looks like john around 2:57

  • Anybody know what this concerts called and when it was please?

  • Dear lord does anybody hear how similar both Julian and Sean sound to their father? And its not like both brothers have the same voice, but rather each have a different tone of John

  • My mind turned a 180 when I heard Sean Lennon's cover of this song years ago.

    Yoko is his his Julia.

    Let It Be.

  • Except for the fact she wasn't killed by a drunken man when he was 18.

  • he's got more talent in his little finger lozanochris!

  • Only a Chord sounds different . . .

    But it's alright

    Very emotional - Great feeling

    Peace

    DeLaSar

  • Yeah he's doin a G major instead of a G minor on the second 'julia' in the verse which is strange on a few counts. He's a fine guitar player and should have spotted that and it's probably the most important chord in the song as far as the mood is concerned. Without the minor it looses that ephemeral strangeness that Lennon was so good at, Across Universe etc

  • @Freidlon7 yea dude alot of his songs were pretty complicated. not necessarily hard, just confusing as hell

  • John lives on in Sean. This is wonderful.

  • @Piggygal45 and in Julian

  • @Piggygal45 Julia is a song John wrote for his mom, Julia and named his first son after.

  • Well done.

  • ......different

  • bravazo!

  • his voice sounds like an exact mix between john and yoko

  • you are absolutely right about that. like you can hear johns voice but you can also hear that same quality that you hear in asian people. its weird but cool.

  • the most beautiful song John ever penned.

  • ese hombre tiene una cara en el cachete o___o

  • It's startling how similar his vocal quality is to that of John, and it's so wonderfully amazing! It really just gave me the warmest feeling, and chills down the spine!

If you haven't heard Sean's album "Into the Sun," it is a MUST have! A great album! He is an amazing songwriter!

  • il a une tonalité de voix senblable a celle de son Père... jadore (L)

  • A very good perfomance of this beatiful song. Excelente interpretación de ésta linda canción.

  • Bravo!

  • Just beautiful, Sean

I know your dad is smiling upon you!

  • damn that was actualy pretty good :) john did sound a little naisily, witch sean inherited, so it works for this song :)

  • its not about respecting his fathers intentions for the song. Its just John Lennon wrote this for his mother, so Sean is singing it for his. Like a chain of mother appreciation, you see?

  • NO.....It's dedicated to his grandmother!

  • It's about about John's mom AND the unlikable Yoko~" whose first name, literally means "child of the sea" in Japanese, is echoed in lyrics such as "Oceanchild, calls me." (wiki is my source)

  • I like the little freckle on his nose.

  • Hey, Sean ...

Your father is surely proud of you - wherever he is.

Julia is one of my favorite songs by the Beatles , and because of that it is kind of hard to detach myself from the original version, but I do have to say you sang it from the heart, in a plain and unpretensious way and your singing really touched me because it does sound true. Wish you all the very best !

  • beautiful cover, well done sean!

  • i love this

  • beautiful.

  • "Ocean Child" is Yoko. John wrote the song for her AND his mum. As he often called Yoko "mother", he obviously had some parallels of affection or connection in the relationship.

Sean's a pretty cool guy considering, you should hear his Howard Stern interview...

  • Can any1 share link to mp3-version of this concert?

  • oooh....)it's wonderful...))

  • Julia was Sean Lennon's grandmother John Lennon's mother.

  • emozionante

  • This is an achingly beautiful song. Can you imagine anyone writing a song like this about anyone? AMAZING.

Also, Sean does sound a bit like his father. But he definitely has his own identity too.

  • what a nice cover!

    thanks.

  • i love him =] <3

  • This song makes me cry everytime. I'd sing this song to my children before them going to bed but instead of Julia it will be there name.
