  • All fat and sassy and shiny. Nobody could touch OP. Forget about Tatum.

  • i dont understand why is tatum so great i listened to him i dont like his style it seems boring compared to Oscar.Oscar is far better.Ive never heard anyone play like him.

  • @860125mwj Tatum if incredible in his own right, and oscar definetly wouldnt have disgareed with that, but oscar has taken what he has learned from tatum and improved it. Its how jazz progress

  • @860125mwj Tatum came before Oscar and Oscar learned a lot from him. He did take it to a different level though. But had there not been Art Tatum we might have not had Oscar Peterson the way he is.

  • wow, excellent! Which is this tune and the name of that drummer? They are all such musician beasts!

  • The tune is "Daahoud" which was written by Clifford Brown. The drummer is Bobby Durham.

  • I love Oscar's look at :14

  • @jsbruzina That's real music!

  • That piece was fucking sophisticated!

  • he´s great

  • Oscar was amazing...i was appalled how he received racial abuse in Ontario. during one incident that he never seemed to recover from. He didn't deserve that.

     He was a beautiful guy.

  • They say mumbling/growling is the best way to get connected to your piano playing. Oscar Peterson is obviously into it

  • @HiMyNameis0BLANK0 So was Jimmy Smith.

  • Please come back - you are the greatest Oscar- we need you!

  • He always said that art tatum was the greatest but you are right .

  • They don't come close to making musicians like this anymore ... sad.

  • I thought so too, however, Google Marian Petrescu on Resonance Records PLEASE!! You are in for a treat!!

  • He "raises the game" for each new generation that's lucky enough to hear his work. The woodshed is to the left!LOL

  • ただ速いだけじゃない。

    そこが好きです

  • just insane.... im only 13 and i can understand how much skill this takes compared to music of today

  • god damn

  • He never ceases to amaze me.

  • In the name of Heaven.

  • This is the epitomy of jazz, it is a fullfiller and an accomplisher of the jazz thought which was created by our jazz forefathers, (Art Tatum, Charlie Parker), Not just them, but the beginning of the ancestors of jazz, who used it as an outlet from oppression and racism.

  • @SebastienLoong Oscar fought racism right to the end..and i MEAN , right to the end because he was racially abused only a few months before his death right outside his own home. Artists from Oscar's era will NEVER be replaced. They set the standards. They had a gift from God.

  • I few months before his death???? Oh my, to think that after all he's achieved and the age we live in, that someone like him could go through discrimination after the way he's enriched us all.

Yeah, I agree with you, they do set the standards.

  • @SebastienLoong Yes, the account is still on-line about his ordeal that lasted for a month ot two outside his home in Mississauga. I think his whole family were threatened.

  • I see no poking business - it must be an optical illusion.

  • Comment removed

  • hey, one little thing about the video but im not really sure about it, right before the drumer starts playing his solo the bassist is kinda poking oscar to stop him from soloing cause he was getting to exited playing. Do you think its true?

  • where/when? didn't see that at all...

  • jaja, sorry is that i thought i saw that the bass player was poking him but is just because of the camera aim

  • nice drummer too

  • Bobby Durham. He died last year. A true legend!

  • Absolutely my favorite Jazz pianist, period!! Thanks for this one!!

  • does period mean full stop in this case? i honestly dont know and cant find out, sum1 tell me plz

  • yes it does.

  • whys he/she put it after a comma with exclamation marks...is that a good thing? im guessing you cant say that right?

sorry, ive seen it before and i dont like feeling clueless

  • Well some people say it to make their point stronger. Because seeing the full stop is just grammar but saying it gives the statement more weight.

  • thats pretty cool, yeah i have been playing jaz for a couple years and i have made a video check it out! (ps im only 13)
