I need like a keyboard for: a good sounding natural piano sound, something that i can make my own sounds, and a bit for controlling my Live software. Should i get a synth, midi controller, or a really good keyboard? (under $1000!)

Two routes: MIDI controller plus software (synths, sampled pianos, etc), or all hardware. Software will be cheaper to an extent, and considerably more flexible. Since you need it for the Live stuff too, a decent midi controller and a USB audio interface would work out well. That way you have samplers, piano, endless synths, etc. Then you need to think about the keyboard itself... you want a 76+ key weighted hammer action for piano... but playing some synth sounds will be horrible on it.

i think the new guitar heros should have a more linear fretting system. expert guitar has been too easy for some people, so i believe there should be 6 frets, green, red, yellow on the left side and blue, orange, purple on the right arranged in a 2x3 array. it would make it more challenging and much more realistic.

1) it really wouldn't be that big of a deal for experts.

2) It'd scare beginners shitless

3) It'd have to be entirely optional because every guitar out only has 5 frets now so everyone that's owned a guitar hero or rock band game EVER would have to get this new guitar which would turn off a lot of people from the idea.

i didn't think about it as i recorded this vid, but i think it'd be possible to do the fast notes by using 2 hands on 2 different keys mapped to the same note. so as long as you can play a "single stroke drum roll" fast enough with your fingers, you could pull it off.
