You have a charming voice ! I find that rainerh1938 is a little severe. For me, you have a sufficient understanding of the text. Very very beautiful !
Dear Amy, thank you for your mail. My comment was in Dutch. You have a good voice and the pronunciation of the German was not to bad, but I felt, that you did not understand the character of the beautiful Goethe song. This is not just a ravishing sounding melody! In Lieder singing it is important that every tone and word comes in time. Your movement on stage distracts; try to face the public, because you are not singing to yourself. See mail 2.
I recommended you to listen to Tiana Lemnitz. She has a technique that makes her voice almost floating, the same as Elisabeth Schumann and other singers in that time, a technique that seems to be disapeared nowadays, but fits the character of this song.
I wish you success in your career; what is your favourite repertoire?
@rainerh1938 I think you said that you didn't understand me. I did listen to Tiana. Beautiful! I had listened to Elisabeth Schwartzkopf while learning the song. I love the quality of her voice and she looks like my Grandma did at that age.
@rainerh1938 Hello. Thank you so much for commenting on my singing. Is there any chance you could put it in English for me? I should know German, because my Grandma's name was Gertrude Blickensdorf, but unfortunately, I do not. I'm sorry if my pronunciation was not good in my singing of your beautiful language.
