take it to the ground! and sheilds and koscheck yet again no shit with striking with them. thats what puts fedor above the rest especially GSP. fedor has heart and can dominate great fighters (prime nogueira, cro cop, and arlovski (he was on a tear at the time and a top 5 or even 3 fighter at the time) among others) and he can come back from the brink of defeat. he was in a similar chicken dance position as GSP with serra when fedor got rocked by fujita. he knocked him down and subbmitted him.

Gsp and fitch are pretty similar though. Both are great fighters are usually go the distance. Not to say that either is boring but I do believe st. Pierre plays it safe.but hey, he's winning. Can't hold that against him

GSP owned Fitch. GSP has cleared the entire division. I don't see any WW in the UFC capabl of beating GSP. Eventually GSP, will be dethroned, but it be against a far younger opponent. Fitch, Koscheck, Shields are good, but they are all over 32, while GSP is still 28. I don't see any older WW beating him. It will take a complete fighter with the skillsets of Fedor in his prime combined with superior athletic ability to outclass GSP.

Jon Fitch would crush Jake Shields. They fought in a grappling match which was very close back in 2007. Fitch's grappling is close to if not just as good as Shields'. Fitch's striking and conditioning are both better. Shields has a slight edge in a grappling tournament, Fitch has a significant edge in an MMA match.

Don't get me wrong I like Shields, I'm a grappler myself so it's nice to see grapplers successful. But Fitch is more well rounded. I do hope the match happens, would be fun to watch.

What you saw with Jon Fitch vs. GSP has nothing to do with Fitch not being good enough. It was a matter of a game plan not working as planned. They underestimated GSP's striking and that put Fitch in a bad position. Next time will be different. If you say "guess what he failed" you're an idiot. Failure is not the same as losing. Jon didn't get knocked out or submitted and he gave GSP the toughest run out of any challenger so far except the fluke with Serra. Watch what happens in the rematch.

@doggydeeds Nah, I'm not saying Fitch will win the rematch, but what I am saying is that if you understand the intricacies of MMA you understand that two fighters can be equally skilled and if one comes in with the wrong expectations or the wrong game plan, they get beat really badly. Fitch lacks the athleticism of GSP but skill wise he is right up there with him. He underestimated GSP's striking is the only problem. In their rematch he will do MUCH better, you'll see. :)

There is no shame of getting smashed by GSP. John Fitch is one of the best welter weights in UFC. Almost everyone that GSP has fought has looked like a shit fighter because GSP dominates.
