the easiest trap ever in minecraft is just to have a dark room that as soon as you walk through the door you fall all the way to bedrock...... it actually works as most people dont expect things so simple ^^

Any inexperienced player would fall for your previous trap (the one that's triggered by closing a door), but this, I believe that anybody, experienced or not, could fall for it.

i set up this tree trap all over the tall trees on an advanced hardcore server. we just happened to run out of wood :) and now all that work is gone for those guys.

Another version i thought of: copying the sand like "pillaring" up, copy this and fill the inside of it with tall sand. Done.

What it will do:

Person: ooooooh a large tree :) (person cuts down tree) WHAT THE **** IS GOING ON!?!?!?!?!? (the character) ah ew eh ew ah ew ah eh ah ew *character dead* Person: I'M NEVER CUTTING DOWN TALL TREES AGAIN...

@DaEarlofDoom And you may just rocket yourself right into the falling lava. Always pays to hotkey up a building material to build a shield around you.

For the tree one you should make one to do water and then lava, so then it will take longer to mine the sand and the lava will case obsidian over you haha :P

I wish there was some way to 'conceal' the traps though.

With the knowledge of basic mechanics in Terraria (or even MC),

one would be extremely cautious around the presence of sand

(especially with lava around).

Most probably only a very inexperienced player would fall prey to these.

I hope there will be more complicated devices in Terraria in the future.

@TheLimeth the problem with this trap is its extremely easy to escape. you can walk through a stack of sand as its falling, u will get hurt a bit but if u keep mining so it keeps falling, u can walk thru it and escape death by lava.

@btwLei :D:D:D as many knows, the 1.1 update has been confirmed. And a dev said that there will be some sort of stuff to make complicated traps :D

@btwLei there will be a kind of "wiring" that will be in the 1.1 patch scheduled to be released December 1st. with this "wiring" you will be able to make complex devices, similar to redstone in minecraft. I'm sure we will be able to use this "wiring" to make cool, and concealed, traps. :D

you can fill it a lot faster if you build a lava doup up top you can make it almost automattic and just click fast (but not to faster)
