got the same laptop but my Orbicam is not functioning right...

i start the shortcut but it tries to open but the window closes really quick.

it dosent even let the webcam window to open.

I had one, the battery got fucked up, so the DC conector and it overheating like hell! idk why does it have some bluetooth switch? it hasn't BT in :s oh! I forgot it! The Hard Disk is fucked up too! GEEZUS!

that's why I have a Toshiba now, but I recommend HP or Sony VAIO as well :)

i have that exact model and it haves a terrible sound, terrible battery life, it gets hotter than my stove. cheap plastic finished fabric. monitor stopped working one year later i bought it. And finally the ac adaptor also stopped working.

Hard Disk cracked too. i Had to install a new one.

bottom of line: not recomended

its a lie the amount of ram it has. the amount in the laptop is 1gb but the graphics card uses 256mb of that so really its a lie.

Always check if the onboard steals from system memory.

I have the 5050 version and im not that satisfied with it, but its pretty good for people who love a heater for your lap.

its not a good laptop because i had to buy a fan for it.

But over the years i've actually increased the speed of it and its a very easy computer.

I'd give it a 2.8/5

Its worth the 300 bucks (I think its that much now) if you have lots of time for the slow start up and the built in heater that will burn your legs off.

I have a Acer 7730, its perfect.. no heat problems and the battery lasts long enough (2,5 hours). It has a duo 2,2Ghz and 3Gb RAM so its fast too..

So for the ones who are talking trash.. "Acer is shit"... its not true.

Its main limitation is the Windows Vista Operating System with which it works fast even with 4 GB of RAM.

The handset is rather reborn with the installation of a Linux operating system Ubuntu 9.04 (x86_64 version), thanks to which the notebook reaches truly remarkable performance. Try to install Linux and do not recognize more of the old slow laptop.

Why i hate my lap

1) Its inbuilt Speakers are useless. .You can't hear anythng from it

2) Process Very slow processor

3) Battery back up not more than 40 min thanks to built in heater in it

4)If you are owner of this u dont need a heater AMD heat out like crazy & fan remains running all the time

5)Graphics Card is Average + (its a intergrated chip) but its screen leaks light from bottom end

7)DVD drive --- Folks It has very very sensitive DVD RW

i have to defend this laptop pc. all though it heats up a lot, it has a quite good performance on games and a nice video chipset. a down side its a low battery life time but if you know how to use it it can last a bit loger enough for a movie.

Don't know what this guy is talking about, that is not a lot of power. That is passable, but nothing to use for serious business ventures, especially if you have to do presentation.

It is a decent design, and this company is underrated, especially of late, but get a different laptop from these guys. You can get 2gb, 2.33ghz, and a ton power for less than $650 on some of their other LT models. They're more bulky and heavy, but, hey, you need power and stability right?

I had the Same Problem With the Web Cam.. so i uninstalled it and installed Crystal Eye Driver software. So now it roconizes it as a USB 2.0 Web cam, and i use Webcam Max to replace the Crappy Webcam software Acer gives...

But i am using my Laptop right now..

I have this computer, first off my version of vista would not work with my router but my pops dell vista laptop does work. So that said, I downgraded to xp and now my laptop works with my wireless router.

One thing that pisses me off the most about this laptop is the Sound. It is extrememly weak. Its so soft that you cant hear anything. Its gotta be the cheapest speakers ever.

I want a HP entertainment laptop so bad.

Acer do top range laptops but most of their sales are of low end Notebook such as these.

I've had 3 Acer notebooks over the last 4 years, they were all average and do what they are designed to but the main problem is customer expectation and this is fault of the manufacturer and sales people because they give the impression that the Notebook can handle any task just because it's labelled as a general purpose computer.
