As paintadaint noted, in the US it's 9/11. That's the way it's always noted. Also ironic, as the emergency code here is 911 not 999.

This has nothing to do with the way the date is noted, just with the date itself. It is neither 11th of September or 9th of November. It reads 9th of September (09/09/01, no matter what way you put it). It is probably a simple typo, but in this case it should be addressed.

What!? Do you write your cardinal numbers with units first, then decimals, then hundreds, too!? It's pointless to argue about this, but the reason for writing the larger units first--as in the ISO format--is so the lexical order (i.e. alphabetic order) matches the natural sequence (i.e. chronological order). There are solid reasons for it, so don't call it wrong.

Saying 9th September is like saying dvd disc, you're saying two things that essentially mean the same exact thing and there is no reason for that, that's all I really mean. I see it as a typo, there is no need to put the same exact thing consecutively, and then also disregard the rest of the rest of the date. That's just how I see it... I'm not going to make a federal case of it, but I wouldn't mind seeing a correction though the balance of my future doesn't depend on it. =)
