Soaking nuts before processing is recommended as it will soften the nuts and make them easier to process. That being said, if you do this, you must use the mixture that is created within a few days or it will mold. If you do not add the water, the mixture can be store for a longer peroid of time.
i can see using the fiber for like a pie crust and then using the butter(without the fiber) as part of the filling of the pie. Then u get them both in a pie.. and some interesting textures for a drier crust and richer/buttery filling.
Instead of mixing the "butter" and the "fiber" together, have you tried passing the fiber portion through the machine a second or even third time? Just curious what effect this might have.
With the VRT350 where the yellow rubber thingy cannot be removed... can you just pull it out of the way and still do the butter with the VRT350? Thanks for all your awesome demos!
you can swing the yellow plug out of the way, and it will work. that being said, whatever you are running thru the juicer will leak out a little on the motor if you leave the yellow plug out of the way but still hinged on.
ok you're trying all kinds of unusual things with this juicer and I'm really curious as to how far I can push it. How does it handle ice? what happens if one of the holes is plugged? doe is function more like an 800x? does it back up if pressure is put on the ejector hole ( like if someone were to fit it with a cap with holes drilled to try and do noodles with this device? is the power there or not; is it just a matter of rigging the right fittings and it could be used like the 8003,4,5,6?
Thanks for the great recipe!!! I have this juicer and agree it is fabulous. I have had the Omega 8004 and a few centrifugal juicers; all the juicers worked very well - but the Vert is so easy to make multiple juices without having to stop and clean everything - especially with the centrifugal juicers. The compact size of the juice is an added plus.
I used a single auger omega that I bought from you amost a decade ago and used a blank plate to experiment with making halva. It turned out nice. Afterward, I noticed a big clear puddle underneath the place where the auger was. It had leaked passed the blank. Had I known it would squeeze the bejesus out of the sesame seed, I would've had a little bowl underneath to collect it. Now my counter has a beautiful glossy finish! :-D
I'm quite sure that's the juicer I'm going to buy. I have a Breville and I love it. But this Omega vert seems to do the few things my Breville can't. Very convincing vid! (please don't wear such a wrinkly shirt next time. you look messy. i sound like your mom! )
Seeing the flour-like product you get from making Brazil nut butter, I am wondering have you tried to turn grains like wheat berries into flour with the Omega VRT or do you know if this would work?
I have the Omega 8006, which has a blank plate. I soaked some raw almonds and took off the skins. What came out was like your Brazil pulp. It was a dry flour-like substance. It didn't even seem capable of being creamy, like when you get in a jar. I realize that Brazil nuts probably have a lot more fat than almonds, but I even added a bit of oil. I didn't get any oily butter, just the flour. I also did the same thing with unhulled sesame seeds and it was just meal:(
I did make a video about making nut butters in the 8006. See it for some techniques so that it works "better". Still not going to get the "almond butter in a jar" consistancy with any juicer.
No., I did not sprout any nuts. Brazil nuts will not "sprout". You can soak them. Nut butters in the store do not soak the nuts.
If you have a high water content, it will HELP the nut butter process. That being said, it will taste like water mixxed with your nut butter AND the water-logged nut butter will have to be used within a few days or it will go bad.
Yes, cancel! I just returned mine to Bed Bath and Beyond so I can get the Omega VRT. Centrifugal juicers oxidize the juice and kill many ingredients, not to mention they leave the pulp soggy.
i returned my Breville. the Breville oxidizes the juice and separated the water from the nutrients and it didn't juice leafy greens very well for me. I am ordering the VRT330 juicer from discount juicers soon because of it capabilities.
Me too! I had it for less than a month before I discovered the Omega VRT330. I ordered mine from John and it's every bit superior to any other juicer out there. You'll use it so often. It's the best juice ever!
Return your Breville Elite. I did! It's inferior to the Omega VRT330. Seriously, if you are going to invest in a quality juicer, get the best and that is OMEGA VRT330!
Most call it a masticating juicer. So you could say yes. Technically it does not oxidize the food as much as a masticating juicer, so I do not like to classify this in the "same league" as say the Champion, the well known masticating juicer.
Omega is currently in the process of considering coming out with a blank. I cant guarantee they will come out with it.. I am encouraging them to come out with one.
I asked the same question, I am sure they would if the demand was there. We should all put the pressure on omega and I am sure they will make one for it. That is my only complaint that it doesnt have a blank plate. Lets all call the company and ask.
I would like to see your videos that show how to use the Omega 8006 for making nuts butter, soy milk or some other stuff besides juicing. Thank you very much!
Yes, I always send water through intermitantly while juicing veggies. Flushes out any more dense residual juice in the filter that's full of nutrients.
Got one of these and LOVE IT. Here's a tip - much easier and faster to clean when you run water through it towards the end. In fact I like light mellon juice and run a cup of water through it after juicing my mellon to make an even lighter juice. Clean up is a snap with everything this way. Love your website too and videos - the best on the net!
Did you try leaving the B-nuts in water overnight? Wouldn’t that let you get more out of the product, I mean since its originally dried...

@rawfoods I tried soaking them. And some almonds. Tasted stale. I think I left it soaking too long.

Can you make walnut butter too??

Yes, Walnuts have a high oil content and should work.

John, have you heard anything more about the possibility of the blank?
RonClark2000 5 months ago
There is no blank that is planned for the VRT at this time.

why don't you just use a Vitamix blender with the biggest motor. way easier no cleanup or mixing pulp and oil together. really awesome

Actually, I recommend using a food processor for making nut butters. Please see

Yes, I did do that in one of the videos with the omega 8006 using almonds. It got it to stick together better.

why does this machine over heat after 20 mins
pokemonfan200 1 year ago
All juicers heat up after a specific peroid of use. Its normal.

What's the difference with the Hurom slow juicer? Looks exactly the same.
Would also work (and diges and assimilate) way better if you soak the nuts, no?

What's the difference(s) from the Hurom slow juicer? Looks very, very much alike.

I wonder if you'd have left the scraper on the screen, if it would have nicely directed the creamy stuff down the chute? Have you tried this?
wantonsoup 1 year ago
I have tried that. the cream is too thick, and does not go down the chute.

Did you first sprout then dry those brazil nuts? I thought you needed to sprout it since the dry nuts have an enzyme inhibitor.
Also, would sprouted nuts work better or would the high water content interfere with the butter process?
kosai19 2 years ago
No., I did not sprout any nuts. Brazil nuts will not "sprout". You can soak them. Nut butters in the store do not soak the nuts.
