I am not from USA and i have not heard this guy for long..having said that i believe his version is the best..to me he has one of the best voice in country : My favorites are

Mystifyingly, Marty never actually recorded the song, but did sing it in the movie and he also sang it on his 'Spotlight '' TV show.

I think I'm right in saying that Johnny Darrell did the first cut on the song followed by Porter Wagoner's great version, thence on to Jerry Lee. Tom Jones may have had the worldwide hit, but he never wrote his name up on Tootsie's wall like another Welshman I know did!

Actually, Porter Waggoner did this one best. Tom Jones did it well, as did Elvis and of course Marty's version is good too.

thank you so much for uploading the very best of Marty Robbins. I remember back in 1981 he was scheduled to play in my hometown of Brisbane Australia. I was only 9 then but I listened to his music on the radio and the old cassettes over and over. My mum promised to take me to see him when he came and I remember how disappointed I was when I heard that he had passed away and wasn't coming. I still listen sometimes and it really takes me back. Thank you once again.
