My problem on this game is that when Igo to my inventory and goin to drop something or switch weapon, it like freezes for YEAARS before ive switched or droped that thing. i have also minor lagg problems when i am stupposed to travel an go into houses etc.
has anyone else had a problem not only with lag but (i cant remember the cave) but in one of the main story missions the cave turned bright blue and started to flicker and i could not see a thing till i turned off the ps3 n started again but it happened again about 3 days ago but has not happened since??? anyone experienced this yet?

@SquallLionheart9999X Ps3 slim fixed yellow light of death, fat ps3 had ylod, not frequently like xbox 360, probably elite fixed it, but is still a problem, and vita you already get the 3d model, and ps3 320gb costs 299$, probably this year they will update the memory to 460gb, skyrim works on ps3, but with lag and freezes because it ocupies a lot of memory in the ps3, so the only thing is to update the memory, and ps3 went to 3rd place, not for the problems, but for the sales

It was the ps3 not cleaning the cash so things are still loaded on the save hence why when you reboot the console it's fine unless you go some were but the most resent patch fixed my game :)
80gb backwards compat had went up to 16mb with no lagg suddenly dropped to 7mb for some reason still working fine. Notice the old freeze here and there but nothing like seen in this video. level 63 70+hrs
Thank you for posting this. I have been getting realy bad lag after therty hours of game play. It would get so bad I could'nt play at all, chopy and freazy. I had to delete all my game memory and start over thinking it was a file problem. (Well I waisted a good deal of perks anyway on a orc mage) Ill try your advice about turning off the auto saves.
The ps3 version of this game got a 7/10 rating from Official Playstaion Magazine lol, just get it on Pc or xbox, i rented it on ps3 before, it was a fucking disaster.
the problems im having are much about graghic lags. I see a gripe of simple pixilated dragons then after i kill them they turn into the actual dragon like from a crudy blocky dragon to a frost dragon then they burn and I absorb there souls normaly.
you think this is bad, i got one of the only slideshow fps i ever got on my ps3 in general. i was on one of my last saves i made wasn't even that bad file size i climbed a mountain the lag was bareable the dragon did some kind of attack, i'm not sure what it was as my fps had sunk to 1 or below all i knew is when my ps3 picked itself up there was a rut in the ground, and my ps3 is practically brand new, so it isn't just the older ones.

Yes that does happen even on the computer version. My friend has the PS3 version and he has to cut it off every 2 hours or so... Best game of the year except for all of the problems with it. So the solution is Bethesda needs to go through and look at everything to optimise it with a patch... That is all I can think of that woud help O.e
1 thing that helps is making sure you can create a new file, do not overwrite a current one, remove the skyrim game data regularly, turn of auto-saves, you'll know when to save when you see certain glitches, trees not looking well, bound stuff not manifesting etc, so save then quickly. Stop play every 3 hours to let the ps3 cool off a little. But really, buy this on a 8gb Ram pc, it's really sickening that bethesda released it on this format while it was clearly developed solely for pc
I have an original PS3 (real PS2 board not an emulator). I had to replaced the tiny HD with a larger 250 MB drive. It always happens in Whiterun over a protracted period of time. In addition to Whiterun, it happens when I am riding a horse. There is no distinct location when on my horse; it seems more random. I am on level 60 so my saves are 15 MB. I was wondering if it is was because the Blu Ray disk heats up in my PS3. It usually starts happening after 3-4 hours of play in one session.
My save was up to 11mb and the lag made it immensely unplayable. I always overwrite my save and it's on a rather new ps3. I had to just start over with a new character because the file save made the previous character unplayable.
I have the maximum amount of save files and I always overwrite the oldest one and they're all at about 10mb. My Ps3 slim runs the game just fine no matter how long I play. Out of my 100+ hours it has only froze once. Has the problem been fixed?
Follower unless i start a new game. I have a 12mb save file with all the patches on a 2 year old ps3 slim. This game just dosnt lag anymore it freezes completely every time I play now within an hour or two. Whether it be during play or loading. I read everywhere that these problems only effect certain people. I find that hard to believe considering I've had every problem, glitch, listed and things that I haven't even read about. Like my companion dying, and every time i go to get another since he died, it says "looks like you have someone already". I can go to his body and search him he's very much not alive. Does anyone have problems with the inventory? I can remove other items but not quest items. I found all the stones of barenziah and I cant remove them. I hope Bethesda don't allow me to restart all over and reset my trophies(like Rockstar did with GTA4 with their update). I think I'm going to beat the game b4 the update just in case that happens....
All I know is that because of this and the issues fallout had in the beginning I'm waiting a few months to get the next game that comes out and I'll probably get it used. Not like I'll have to worry about an online pass. I don't think its much to ask that the game I bought works.
I noticed that if you have some kind of fan aimed at the vent BEFORE it starts heating up you can play for much longer, my save file isn't too big right now, only like 5mb, but older ones were 12mb and just keeping the Ps3 cool seemed to do the trick. If you think it sounds a bit extreme, you should see the lengths some PC users go to to keep their PCs cool, srsly. This also helps prevent the YLOD.
I looked this up after playing Skyrim for a half hour. I timed it, and 29 minutes in, my game froze for a full twenty seconds. TOTALLY unacceptable..This should not be happening. Bethesda should have done EXTENSIVE hours of game play (like what we, the players, do) and seen this. Then they would have known how to stop it, and then make the game more acceptable to it's audience.
Turning off the auto save helps but it still lags. I'm on level 57. I went and sold all of my items in the game. Literally everything that I had stored in my homes, I sold. Now I have enough gold to simply buy anything I want when I need it and the save file size dropped a bit helping with the lag.
once this problem is fixed you guys should really work on getting multiplayer for PS3. make the whole world open for like 6 players to roam around in. their is nothing i hate more then leaving skyrim to play call of duty with my friends. and im sure everyone out their wants nothing more then to slay dragons with their online friends. make it DLC and make us pay for it for all i care. ill buy it. please guys, dont make me play COD again. its a beautiful game, lets perfect the best.
I found my ps3 250g slim was heating up faster the larger my save. Putting it in the freezer for an hour after it would heat up seemed to do the trick. Game play was fine for about an hour, then it would be hot again.
Save size over 9 MB at the moment. It is unplayable in places, total system freezes, and delay of many seconds before frames sputter back to motion. If There are more than 4 melees attacking I am done. Enemy casters, forget about it. Pretty much have to sneak kill everything just to play :(
Does this have anything to do with having the original (fat) ps3 or the new (slim) one? I have the original. I started playing recently, so my save file is only about 3 Megabytes. I haven't experiences much lag, but the gameplay isn't as smooth as I would like it to be. Basically, it's a little choppy at times.
I am currently at 9505kb and the game is nearly unplayable. It is really frustrating! Square Enix please show Bethesda how a real game is made the next time out.

Yes that does happen even on the computer version. My friend has the PS3 version and he has to cut it off every 2 hours or so... Best game of the year except for all of the problems with it. So the solution is Bethesda needs to go through and look at everything to optimise it with a patch... That is all I can think of that woud help O.e

1 thing that helps is making sure you can create a new file, do not overwrite a current one, remove the skyrim game data regularly, turn of auto-saves, you'll know when to save when you see certain glitches, trees not looking well, bound stuff not manifesting etc, so save then quickly. Stop play every 3 hours to let the ps3 cool off a little. But really, buy this on a 8gb Ram pc, it's really sickening that bethesda released it on this format while it was clearly developed solely for pc

I have an original PS3 (real PS2 board not an emulator). I had to replaced the tiny HD with a larger 250 MB drive. It always happens in Whiterun over a protracted period of time. In addition to Whiterun, it happens when I am riding a horse. There is no distinct location when on my horse; it seems more random. I am on level 60 so my saves are 15 MB. I was wondering if it is was because the Blu Ray disk heats up in my PS3. It usually starts happening after 3-4 hours of play in one session.

My save was up to 11mb and the lag made it immensely unplayable. I always overwrite my save and it's on a rather new ps3. I had to just start over with a new character because the file save made the previous character unplayable.

I have the maximum amount of save files and I always overwrite the oldest one and they're all at about 10mb. My Ps3 slim runs the game just fine no matter how long I play. Out of my 100+ hours it has only froze once. Has the problem been fixed?

Follower unless i start a new game. I have a 12mb save file with all the patches on a 2 year old ps3 slim. This game just dosnt lag anymore it freezes completely every time I play now within an hour or two. Whether it be during play or loading. I'm sure having to hit the power button to reset it every time couldn't be good for the ps3, especially when a corruption check with some gray pixelated screen comes up when I turn it back on. I'm pissed I bought this game for the ps3. I don't even play

I read everywhere that these problems only effect certain people. I find that hard to believe considering I've had every problem, glitch, listed and things that I haven't even read about. Like my companion dying, and every time i go to get another since he died, it says "looks like you have someone already". I can go to his body and search him he's very much not alive. And since i had to turn off all the saving and write over one file to help lag, im stuck never being able to get another follow

I hope they bring a paych to fix this soon.You think your lag was bad you havent seen anything yet my game on ps3 is like jumping jack every 3 min and i have tried everything.
Deleted saves, uninstalled game data,took off auto saves,tweeked video graphics.
All of those did help for a bit but now nothing works even when i reistall game data it only helps for 5min now.HURRY UP and fix it please before you get an arrow in your knee.

Does anyone have problems with the inventory? I can remove other items but not quest items. I found all the stones of barenziah and I cant remove them. I hope Bethesda don't allow me to restart all over and reset my trophies(like Rockstar did with GTA4 with their update). I think I'm going to beat the game b4 the update just in case that happens....

All I know is that because of this and the issues fallout had in the beginning I'm waiting a few months to get the next game that comes out and I'll probably get it used. Not like I'll have to worry about an online pass. I don't think its much to ask that the game I bought works.

I noticed that if you have some kind of fan aimed at the vent BEFORE it starts heating up you can play for much longer, my save file isn't too big right now, only like 5mb, but older ones were 12mb and just keeping the Ps3 cool seemed to do the trick. If you think it sounds a bit extreme, you should see the lengths some PC users go to to keep their PCs cool, srsly. This also helps prevent the YLOD.

I looked this up after playing Skyrim for a half hour. I timed it, and 29 minutes in, my game froze for a full twenty seconds. TOTALLY unacceptable..This should not be happening. Bethesda should have done EXTENSIVE hours of game play (like what we, the players, do) and seen this. Then they would have known how to stop it, and then make the game more acceptable to it's audience.

Turning off the auto save helps but it still lags. I'm on level 57. I went and sold all of my items in the game. Literally everything that I had stored in my homes, I sold. Now I have enough gold to simply buy anything I want when I need it and the save file size dropped a bit helping with the lag.

once this problem is fixed you guys should really work on getting multiplayer for PS3. make the whole world open for like 6 players to roam around in. their is nothing i hate more then leaving skyrim to play call of duty with my friends. and im sure everyone out their wants nothing more then to slay dragons with their online friends. make it DLC and make us pay for it for all i care. ill buy it. please guys, dont make me play COD again. its a beautiful game, lets perfect the best.

I found my ps3 250g slim was heating up faster the larger my save. Putting it in the freezer for an hour after it would heat up seemed to do the trick. Game play was fine for about an hour, then it would be hot again.

Save size over 9 MB at the moment. It is unplayable in places, total system freezes, and delay of many seconds before frames sputter back to motion. If There are more than 4 melees attacking I am done. Enemy casters, forget about it. Pretty much have to sneak kill everything just to play :(

Does this have anything to do with having the original (fat) ps3 or the new (slim) one? I have the original. I started playing recently, so my save file is only about 3 Megabytes. I haven't experiences much lag, but the gameplay isn't as smooth as I would like it to be. Basically, it's a little choppy at times.

It helps to turn off ALL autosaves, including disabling the auto-menu save.
Save yourself; keeping just your 1 save file and deleting the other autosaves from your HD.
Helps on the PS3, especially with load time.
