Lovely video - I don't know how I could have passed this one up. I always thought that if Barnabas could never have Josette, he shuld have at least had Vicky, whom I thought Barnabas actually loved for herself. Their story is so beautiful and touching that I tried my hand a a couple videos of them, but alas YT blocked them worldwide. At least there is someone like you who can paint such a wonderful portrait of them with the clips and your characters used.
@fanforeverds1 How kind of you. I am glad that you liked it. He and Victoria would have been great together. At least he got to be with her in the Revival series, but it just didn't have the same sweetness between them as in the original. Yes, he did love her for herself and she brought out many of his good qualities that had lain dormant.
This was a wonderful video. The song went well with perfectly though I was nervous that it wouldn't work out but when the first image came up, my fears went away. This was a well done video, and Dark Shadows FOREVER! :)
@VerdeVertigoPictures I am glad that you found it a good match. You'd be surprised about song genres. The lyrics have to hit me first, then the instrumentation, and lastly, the quality of the singer's voice which has to convey the whole musical experience to me. I well remember as both a pre-teen and as a teen during DS's heyday that there were songs on the radio that said to me, "Hey, that sounds like DS, or that sounds like a character from DS." "Yesterday" just screams Barnabas.
@ThymeBottle You see- I only started watching this series a summer ago. My mother wanted me to watch it because when she was younger, she loved it. Now- I- love it. I love Barnabas, and his character is just so deep. He is conflicted, but he- in spite of the fact that he's a vampire- he's human. He feels emotion, and he definitely felt it for Josette- his true love (I believe).
Yes. This song- it reminds me of Barnabas- an inspiring love tragedy.
@VerdeVertigoPictures That is very insightful regarding Barnabas' nature. The manner in which this character was written, and played so eloquently by Mr. Frid, has resulted in a timeless, even classic portrait of a man struggling with his past "good" self and the wretched, monster he subsequently became. It is a story of love and redemption. I believe, too, that Josette was his true love; not1840 PT's when he professed his love for Angelique: "She was my only love...and I never knew it."
@ThymeBottle I definitely agree. Not that Angelique is a bad character, but I do not think Barnabas ever truly loved her. Josette did no wrong, I believe.
Yes- and Mr. Frid is the only person who could ever play that part. His character may be a strong being, but there was that little hint of timidness that (in these bonus features I have) that said when he was acting, he always felt nervous, and he usually put that into Barnabas.
You make Dark Shadows sound so beautiful again. :D
Aw shucks, I hate to admit it (die-hard Barnabas & Josette/Maggie lover here), but this WAS very good! I think the music you chose was beautiful, and the images quite touching at times....they really reflected the lyrics perfectly....
You old "die-hards"... I loved him with all of his ladies--just wanted him to be happy. I'll see about making one for you Barnabas, Josette/Maggie addicts. :)
Thank you. Well, there's two votes already for the doomed lovers, so it looks like I'm going to have to do something about it, LOL. Soon as I get some spare time, I'll throw one up.
AWW!!!! I LOVE IT! You did everything with elegancy. It set the mood of determination in the means of love and Barnabas was absolutely dedicated to her. The music is just as important as the footage and you got them both ^_^ Great job!
Thank you for your commentary. Mood was everything, as witnessed by the scenes leading up to the ending. I had in mind a tribute to the three ladies who played Victoria, but as it developed, it became this tale of hope, redemption, sacrifice, and eventual loss. Despite having three different actresses playing Victoria, Mr. Frid never broke stride in how his character reacted to Victoria's plight. Here is an actor who conveys a deeply broken man through voice, stance, and the saddest of eyes.
Thank you. Did you turn up the volume at 4:00 going toward the end? This song fades out, but if you'll do that it's most effective. I really love this song.
