Christmas is what you make of it. It's unfortunate so many people buy into the greedy, commercial, Black Friday style aspects. I like giving toys to Toys for Tots and inviting people in the neighborhood who don't have family in the area for Christmas dinner. I agree with Oscar about most of the rest of it. Christmas trees are especially depressing to me. I decorate my boxwood tree and other houseplants. No sad dead thing to toss out at the curb later.

I agree with Oscar, I don't like christmas. It's just about shopping. It's cool for kids, but once you realize gifts, no matter how grand are basically meaningless, it isn't fun. A day of celebrating materialism is awful. There are much more important things than objects. Real affection is better for a family and not just for a holiday. When I was a kid, I never saw my Dad, but he tried to buy me off all time, and christmas just encourages that attitude in a lot of people.
