I was one of Bob Demmon's students in the mid 80s. I remember the whole class working really hard to get a B or better on a test so he would bring in the vinyl and his guitar. RIP Mr Demmon.
@bimbicool You know your comment is just going to instigate some douche or 13 year old who thinks he's funny to ruin this unblemished likes bar. It is pretty frickin cool though. almost 30,000 ppl watched and not one! Your right!
I was staying at the Harvest House in Boulder in October 1974. The CU class of 1964 was having a reunion during Homecoming. The top floor of the HH was ROCKIN'. Turns out that they had coerced the Astronauts into a reunion concert. Found one single woman to dance with. We danced together until they stopped playing and turned on the lights. Then she said the words, "I want you to meet my husband, Storm Patterson." Oh well - it was worth it to hear them live again!
We played with them when we were filming Surf Party!! My band was THE ROUTERS and those guys were so much better than our band. They were truly incredible musicians.
@michaelzstuff Well I don't claim to know much, however,I live in Santa Ana, CA., and my neighbor recently attended a service in honor of Bob Demmon, who passed on recently. I was touched, when gave me a copy of the "program" handout !
The Astronauts disbanded in the late sixties, moved to Turkey, reformed as UR, played for a few years, then disbanded again and went on a hyatus, until they reappeared in the late nineties in California under the moniker Secret Chiefs 3.
@hollies65 I agree. And I also think the Astronauts never received the recognition that they deserved. We only played together once, and that was in Surf Party. Very excellent musicians. As a member of the Marketts, I always looked up to these guys and I wished I could have played half as good as they did. We may have had the hits, but they had the talent.
Such a Kick Ass Track!
