  • I'LL BET THAT YELLOW SHIRT IS A NEGRO. NEGROES TEND TO BE VERY ATHLETIC.

  • u not the carrier make any longer? U.S. is rich.

  • @yewyew79 Easy target to kamikazes jeje :p

  • as a gear dog on board the reagan(CVN76) this is what we fear every day we do flight ops. the sad part is i ran hooks and luv'd it for the rush. but they say mech failer maybe. or it could have been set to low for the wieght and or the trap count to high on the wire. and that 1 7/16 inch cable does not give way for no1. our little sayin we had never disrespect the cable. the day u do is the day u get hurt.

  • that's freakin scary those cables could slice right through you.

  • @LukeSidler2005 I know of a guy that was standing by two others when this happened to them. He saw it and jumped. The other two didn't see it, and it sliced them in half.

  • If a two nch steel cable hits you at that speed its pain city

  • 1:00 DAMN that fucker did an outstanding job of jumping that cable.Especially the 2nd time. GREAT JOB DUDE. I give him a 10.00

WATCH :13 IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PICTURE-You can see the man jump over the cable twice.

  • 1:00 DAMN that fucker did an outstanding job of jumping that cable.Especially the 2nd time. GREAT JOB DUDE. I give him a 10.00

  • ya ya yellow shirt money...green shirt at 1:03 not so much. Epic Crinkle straw.

  • "As this single-seat F/A 18 Hornet lands..."

    *shows two seater*

  • Yellow shirt = win....red shirt = doom (same as on Star Trek LOL)

  • 0:21 theres a ufo in the sky

  • I'd still love to go back to when I was a flight deck troubleshooter and do it all over again! Only job I ever loved!

  • the yellow dude can jump

  • "mechanical failure in the arresting engine" sounds suspiciously general and non-specific. Makes me think whatever actually failed was due to improper maintenance or inspection or something culpable.

  • Wow . That is dangerous thing !!!

  • YELLOW SHIRT SPIDEY SENSES!!!!!

  • not a single seat lady....

  • I wore a green shirt on the flight deck and had a ton of respect for the yellow shirts.

  • Yellow shirt ninja reflex.

  • the guy in the green shirt got recked

  • ninjas are everywhere

  • didn't happen like in ghost ship.

that would be pretty damn nasty.

  • Thank goodness that yellow shirt watched a bunch of Bruce Lee movies growing up.

  • that yellow shirt wan't even looking!!!! he's fucking spidey sinces were tingling and he's like holly shit better jump!!!!!!! THATS MY HERO RIGHT THERE!!!

  • @booya155 This is a F18D. The RAG pilots normally fly alone during CQs. I have many friends in VFA106 and VMFAT101. The cockpit can be seen prior to touchdown. VMFAT101 lost a Delta during CQs that went down in San Diego. I have seen Ambush CQ with a backseater but never RAG pilots on their first CQs. I forget how many Bravo and Delta Hornets Roman has. My sister's boat lost a Super Hornet in the same way a few years back. Both the pilot and WSO got out okay. This was a Delta with one pilot.

  • that shits fuckin crazy

  • At 0:20, a puff of smoke suddenly appears in the sky at 11 o'clock. Or is it a piece of dirt hitting the camera lens?

  • @HAWK016 Yeah I paused right there and that's so obviously a one seater it just amazes me anyone could think otherwise. It's not even worth replying to you anymore since you ignore all facts to the contrary and just point to a half-second part of a grainy video clip to base all your arguments off of...Fact is, if they were to use a 2 seater in carrier quals there would have been someone in the back seat, without question.

  • @HAWK016 This is just sad...Why do you think it's a two seater, hmm? There's absolutely nothing this video (or anywhere else for that matter) to give you that idea. Even take a look at the canopy during ejection, obviously not a 2 seater canopy. Also, VFA-106 was doing Carrier Quals when this happened. If they were using a two seater for that, you can be damn sure they would have had someone in the back seat.

  • @HAWK016 And if you want even more proof: This aircraft was being flown by VFA-106 at the time of this incident. VFA-106 didn't receive the F/A-18 E/F Super Hornets until a year later in 2004.

  • @HAWK016 So let me get this straight:, you make a sad attempt at getting your comment to top rated by saying something completely wrong and then I'm the troll for correcting you? Wow...

  • @HAWK016 It's obviously a one seater, just watch him eject. Only one person comes out. Or just pause the video at 0:29 and take a look.

  • I was on the flight deck when that happened!! I was actually running the JBD's for cat #2. We was'nt launchin any aircraft off that cat so i got to see the whole thing.

  • I thought they were supposed to go full throttle after touching down IN CASE this exact situation happens?

  • @Seria17hri11er The cable and machinery slowed the aircraft down before failing. The aircraft was at full throttle but was below takeoff speed.

  • @123MrBurg Ahh, makes sense. I didn't see the afterburners light off so I came to the conclusion they weren't at full throttle. Do you know how long it takes for them to light off?

  • @Seria17hri11er I don't know, but I think they are almost instantaneous once they are ignited. From what I do know, the moment the pilot lands, he puts the engines at full throttle (not afterburner) until he stops and the yellow shirt tells him to cut engines. The action on deck can seem almost automatic, but nothing moves without being told to.

  • 0:51 This yellow shirt... miraculously jumps the cable,... not once but twice. LOOL Yellow shirts jumping FTW

  • @humanbeer "How weak the military became under Bush?" what the hell are you talking about? Did George Bush sell the US Navy poor quality cross deck pendants that failed? I have no idea how that comment is related to a freak training accident like the one in this video.

  • that guy was my dad.i swear

  • I hope the pilot had his swim shorts on.

  • "green shirt" GOES FACEPLANT!!!

  • That's what happens when you catch the last cable.

  • Tomorrow, I'm buying me a yellow shirt

  • carrier decks are just plain DANGEROUS!!!!

  • this shouldnt be about the cable snapping, this should be about "yellow shirt" and his fucking ninja badassness

  • @RLhockey203 i agree

  • @RLhockey203 ur too funny!!! but that was some real ninja shit

  • @RLhockey203 totally fucking agree mate even though his mates werent so lucky he deserves mega kudos for those ninja moves!!

  • well there was alot of Rust dust.

Yellow Shirt guy-- Now thats why i have the yellow shirt

  • what a morbid narrator

  • isnt there like 3 cables? hit the first one and ur good

  • @FuckinCrazyness There are four cables, they aim for the third one.

  • @routan1 Whats the point of the first two then???

  • @SuperAncientmariner You'd prefer to get #3, you'll take 2, 4 or 1 in that order of preference. 1 is unadvisable in heavy seas, in fact if the soup is bad enough it's number 4 or waveoffs. A ramp strike is the ugliest result possible of an approach attempt, imagine as the ship moves from trough to trough you are looking at landing on a surface which is losing and gaining altitude of around 30-40 ft all together.

  • @batvette AAH! Glad I went into subs, that sounds too complicated. lol

  • @SuperAncientmariner In case they can't hit the third one, I suppose.

  • that was rust i see.. salty sea water??? metal??? rust????? common america...wake up!.... and we bought your super hornets!!!!!

  • that was rust i see

  • I would not like to be the pilot floating in the cold deep blue sea looking at an aircraft carrier steaming towards you either.its certainly a very risky business.I hope all recovered from this ordeal.

  • See! we got ninjas too.

  • you can obviously see this is a two seat version but one pilot!!!!

  • Just goes to show how weak the military became under bush and the republican criminals in congress.

  • @humanbeer

If libtards had their way there wouldn't even be a military.

  • @KiloByte69 You're retarded. You conservative scum would sell the military to KBR.

  • @humanbeer

What the fuck is KBR? Probably some communist/Muslim terrorist the sub human demoRAT pigs would give the military to on a silver platter.

  • @KiloByte69 You goose stepping conservative bags of shit should try reading books rather than burning them. You dumb cocksucker, KBR is the corporation that you fucksticks have sold the military to. Eat my tits!

  • @humanbeer Nice quote. Sean Connery- Indiana Jones and the last crusade right?

  • @KiloByte69

    Agree'd.

Theres a balance in everything spending wise. And both parties are polar opposite. Libertarians need a chance in office, there might be some balance made at that point.

  • look at the idiots in red , they are suppose to be rescue and they still dont know he ejected

  • wow that yellow shirt guy has some fast reflexes :)

  • @petey815 damn he has hops too wow

  • From the looks of the rust coming off of it when it pops........ Hummmmm

  • well the date befor the video did say nine eleven guess its just bad luck

  • THAT SUCKS

  • I hope those guys that got hit were ok.

    Damn that was scary

  • @ToonandBBfan both legs of the green shirt were broken

  • It's a good job that guy wasn't in a red shirt...

  • shit!

  • i bet the "yellow shirt jumper" was black LOL

  • @williamsonj7 lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ya

  • In soviet Russia, wire traps YOU

  • Husband was a "yellow shirt" in Marine Corp......Their training drills into them...."Jump Once, Jump Twice" If you have to jump once you WILL have to jump again. That yellow shirt listened well in class!

  • how many bad airplane issues happen on sept 11....fyi don't fly on sept. 11

  • holy shit.

  • It sure looked liked he powered up by his exhaust but powered down when roll stopes as expected! Cable broke but should of been changed after inspection and specific number of uses expended!

  • The Navy didn't pay their cable bill.

  • @deliciousmorton smh. lol

  • dang! that has to hurt

  • @ on second analysis not really shure that he did not power up, the cable held almost to the stop of roll, where pilot apparently powered down thinking he was practically stopped, aircraft was too slow at time of cable break to accelerate to flight speed in the lenght left regardless, sucky cable, lasting just long enough to kill speed then braking at last sec, plus the safety procedure of applying take off power is mostly in case the cables are missed? yellowjacket had the adrenalin rush of life

  • @undogod Um what you guys don't realize is that by the time he had to power up, he had no room left, he was at the very end of the flight deck and most likely unaware that some damaged could have been done to the aircraft, till you tell me otherwise, I think the pilot did all he could, and those guys are lucky, there was something like this but a few years earlier, and the cable snapped, and killed people, the pilot was able to stop ith only two or three feet of room left

  • @mirlin235 where do we disagree ?

if you read my second comment Im saying what you too say.

if you analyse what I said in my first comment you see I blame the pilot for not being ready to apply takeoff-power earlier, but in the second comment I reasess that the cable lasted long enough to fool the pilot that he had a plane capture so he powered down, then the cable snapped, etc,

so where do we differ and what have I to prove otherwise to you,

except that you should read more carefully.

  • @undogod Believe it or not, I saw your comment, and another comment that said the pilot should have been fired for not doing his job right, and I just wanted people to understand, didn't realize you actually understood what had happened

    My bad dude

  • @mirlin235 you are correct in sticking up for the pilot, he had a nasty incident and reacted just right.

Hey I lived in Vancouver, and I know Canada is one of the best countries ever.

Visit my userchannel, if you like, and criticise what we say there, I got a geopolitical channel, the discussion can get interesting and I would like a Canadian viewpoint on geopolitics about North America / Europe and the future of NATO.

  • @ClaireseLippincott Correct assesment of who fkd up, the pilot should be C martialled causing men to get hurt and loosing a bitchin 18, you're way right, the pilot did not make shure to save HIS own butt by applying takeoff power, who gives that he had enough sense to get scared enough to eject, the yellow shirt is a God reacting like he did... go NAVY go... yea I know the pilot is probably a ok guy, but this erases that...

  • When a Navy aircraft attempts to land on the carrier, standard procedure is to go to full throttle until the arresting cable has caught the tail-hook. This pilot is what we used to call a, Whisper jet" since the pilot didn't go to full throttle upon touching down. Had the pilot followed NATOPS correctly, this flyer would not have had to punch out, and could have safely gone around for another attempt.

The cables very rarely break, but the landing procedure includes the momentary full throttle.

  • And his recruiter thought all those hours playing the "Dance, Dance" video game was wasted.

  • I like it when she states:" other WELL TRAINED crewmen are not so lucky" and you see a guy in a red shirt cassually leening onto a truck. He was so alert.

  • @streetstream Haha, I've seen those crash and salvage guys chilling on the flight deck during flight quarters. Sometimes, I wonder if they're even awake under their silver suit and goggles.

  • @streetstream lol

  • 0:59 its micheal jackson dancing

  • Props to the only deck hand paying attention

  • OH WELL, TAX PAYERS' DOLLARS WILL PAY MILLIONS FOR A NEW PLANE. NO NEED TO HAVE PROPER MAINTENANCE ON THE CABLE.....

  • Jump up, jump up and get down!

  • What is this program called?

  • This is why working on the deck of an aircraft carrier is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world.

  • man i love to wofk there, so exciting ;)

  • I would not want to work there, sorry.

  • i bet he's a fucking good dancer.

  • thats why you dont BS on the flight deck thats there fault fior not paying attention

  • @PR1987CA how can you see a grey wire on a grey deck coming at you at 100 mph?

  • jesus fucking christ!

  • @NikitasGuitars i second that !!!

  • That is one hell of yellow shirt...haha WOW cant stop watching him jump them things

  • double dutch;navy style

  • oooooh boy!at first i thought i thought yellow shirt was jumping in joy and i thought" you vicious prick" only then did i understand.

sorry for having laughed at you mate!

  • Should be 2 cables atleast for this kind of accidents.

  • No wonder a carrier deck is one of the most dangerous places in the world to work! What were the injuries to the other crew members? Hope there were no decapitations!

  • Fuck the green shirt got it bad!! Chech him out on the left 1:02

  • @TwentyCharacterLimit Holy shit I've never saw him before after watching this about 5 times. Too busy watching the red guy. Damn the green guy gets it bad though.

  • @AndyJay15 yup,the dentist's got work

  • good thing he wasnt a red shirt

  • @Clubby44 Now that's funny! Love the star trek reference.

  • oooh shit

  • You guys missed the green shirt... He got it worse than the red!

  • dude yellowshirt guy can juke!

  • looks like the cable must have tore into those guys legs. So you still wanna join the Navy? loool

  • that yellow shirt must have been really good at jump rope in his younger days

  • Holy shit!!! Damn well shit like that is what i got to look for when i go out to the fleet! ABH!!!!

  • 1- pilot must have been like "WTF!!!"

2- dont ever say its gay to jump rope in school might save ur life in the future

3- poor guys who where it :(

  • haha @ #2

  • holy crap

  • omg.

  • Ohh.... Fu***

    It´s not good !! :S :S :S

  • Well, someone has to say it....

    Oh SNAP!

  • lol

  • should use a big laggy band

  • LOL hhahahahahahahahaha so funny!!! XDD

  • HOLY SHIT! The cable snapped, never seen that! He ejected ...phew!

  • the Navy didn't pay their cable bill.

  • @deliciousmorton Taxpayer money didn't cover THAT bill did it?

  • @deliciousmorton lol....

  • "yellow shirt" has got some skills.

  • @Creebe no because he was paying attention...

  • You can even see and hear the cable whiping : Claaack !

  • The sound is fake and was added in by who ever edited this video...

  • bad-ass jump @ 0:54! Talk about reflexes!

  • And people actually argue against VTOL (JSF)? Good vid, glad to see there were no fatalities.

  • hope they all recovered from injuries

  • it is a single seat its not a double

  • Wrong. It was a two-seat D-model from VFA-106.

However, the rear seat was unoccupied at the time.

  • actually there are 11 SUPERcarriers but i think there are alot more smaller carriers insnt there??

  • i like how they say "single seat hornet" when there is 2 seats hehe

  • @Legendary588 Heh, yeah, I noticed that too...

  • is this an ad or some thing

  • USA has the most freakiest inventions ever.does anyone know how many carriers USA has?

  • 12 supercarriers

  • I thought it was 11.

  • 11, one is due to retire in 2013

  • Fail ship

  • Im wondering why the pilot didnt go into full afterburner, I know it prob wouldnt have made a difference since he was pretty much stopped already. but its just strange to see them go to military power and not afterburner.

  • By the time the cable broke, the plane's speed was so low that even applying full afterburn would have NO chance of saving the aircraft by the time it got to the edge of the deck. There are some videos of F-18s landing where the afterburners kick in as it traps, but it wouldn't have helped this situation at all; energy was just too low, and not enough deck left.

  • @cnknguyen

yea, when you land on a carrier i thought you were supposed to put the throttle up all the way just in case it's a bolter

  • well you do push the throttle to the max but when the three wire snapped that aircraft was almost fully stopped so not enough thrust to bolter

  • ok, i understand that now

  • "Single Seat"...?...... can't they get even the simple stuff right? Look closely...it's a 2 seater.

  • dude these shows get those simple facts messed up all the time. History Channel did a special on the F-14 and said that you had to go to "Top Gun" in order to fly the Tomcat.

  • Yeah, I see it all the time; it annoys me to no end. I fly for a living, and everytime an accident or incident that gets reported by news or newspapers, they never get it right.

  • haha, top gun was for elite fighter pilots, the F-14 was the standard fighter- interceptor jet at the time

  • BAD LUCK

  • Nya!

  • wow, that guy was freakin paying attention to jump twice!

  • Yeah man!!! Awesome reflexes....

  • @dustman3878

Thats training for ya, id be reaching for my camara

  • This is prime example of why you should be bullshitting on the flight deck.

  • The Navy didn't pay their cable bill.

  • Oh snap!
