  • Great! The junkies way!

  • Thunder Beach is, as Neil Young would say,

"there is a town in north Ontario,

With dream comfort memory to spare,

    And in my mind

I still need a place to go,

    All my changes were there."

Not a town though - a cottage community in a pristine part of the world

  • This is the most considered Springsteen cover I've heard. First-class.

  • Superb what a voice she got

  • Bruce on Qualudes. I´ll take a pass.

  • great bruce cover

  • Encore ! Love it !!!

  • This song doesn't do good going at this slow of a beat. ALthough it is ok, It will never be as Good as the Original.

  • Margo could sing the phone book and I'd get wet.

  • @zamusicza , you sure hit that one ! ;)

  • Found this band YEARS ago. Always love to hear their work !!!

  • Hey there - what's your connection to the greatest place on earth? Thunder Beach...couldn't believe it when I saw the shot...

  • @DeirenM - where's Thunder Beach?

  • Horrible Rendition

  • Genial

  • Fantastic.

  • Ahh. That's nice. Loved how the harmonica fit into the mix. Rather than the usual blaring over the rest of the song, it, well, manged some props to the big man's sax part in the original. Awesome.

  • butchering a classic. my god.

  • do these top commenters not realize it's a bruce springsteen cover?

  • @TyVerte Yes it is a Bruce Springsteen Cover!!

  • @TyVerte I know, they're making feel old! :)

  • I love CowboyJunkies, and their cover of Sweet Jane, but NOT this cover. The singer is not appropriate for this song. I don't believe her at all on several key lines of the song. When they were recording this, someone should have told her "no, this simply isn't working." This song is a wake up call; it's not supposed to be a "rolling lullabye."

  • @UlulatingBanshee777 this is so far from being a lullaby, neither the bass nor the tambourine - but I must admit I like whatever she's singing/ they are interpreting - and the harmonica instead of Big Man's Sax - pulling outta here to win -

  • Her voice is like a gentle touch. Their musical style is like a rolling lullabye. I love whatever they do.

  • What is it about women singing the Bosses songs? You wouldn't think it would work, but it always sounds so sexy. Of course, Margo Timmons would sound so great and sexy singing "three blind mice". What a great sound on the chorus though and that almost perfect finish, I have been a long term Boss fan, and a Cowboy Junkies fan, so I couldn't lose. :-)

  • Do you know this is a Bruce Springsteen song and not a Cowboy Junkie original.

This is a cover, just thought someone would like to know-oh wait I see one or two!

  • Any-time of the day music, so moving .

  • Any-time of the day music, so moving

  • it's nice, but nobody can ever reach THE BOSS

  • Look up thunder road original "chrissy" version - THAT is thunder road.

  • whoa....can't recall the original?....when bruce sings it, it's imprinted.

  • Sure beats Manfred Mann.

  • Nice cover...listening to this I'm not sure I can even recall the original.

  • dont turn me home again...i just cant face myself again

  • I love this version of the old Bruce Springsteen song

  • they always find a different way to express anothers work

  • this about the only album of theres i havn't bought yet. now i need to

  • beautiful cover!! Thanks...

  • Probably the best and most considered Springsteen song I've heard so far. I listened to this all day today, it's that good.

    Thanks for posting.

  • Did The Boss proud...

  • nice version!

  • lovely cover so sweet.

  • beautiful rendition, they played in phoenixville, pa at the colonial theater awhile back and the show was unbeleveable

  • loved this band for so long ... she has such a beautiful voice ...

  • thanks from italy for a so beautiful cover. That's fantastic!

  • I like this better than the original!

  • @hotrodder1959

    I couldn't agree less.

  • Sending this beautiful one to the love of my life~ I love you , baby..Did I just Blow your Moyned with this version!???!! :)

The Cowboy Junkies took this to a whole new level!!! 333 xox ♥♥♥

  • @imafishgod ..I love you Baby, you did blow my Moyned with this Cowboy Junkies version. You Take my life to a whole new Beautiful Level 333 xox ♥♥♥

  • Great cover! And I am not a gushing CJ fan--I am more of a Barbra Streisand-Diana Ross type--but these ladies make some beautiful music here!

  • nice song nice words nice music

  • One of the most beautiful songs ever written ..

  • Excellent!

  • I had the pleasure of seeing them play this live at the Anaheim House of Blues. Margo introduced the song as being written by her first crush - Bruce Springsteen. It was a great evening with one of the best bands in the world!

  • damn, their music always makes me dream of traveling - yet always in a melencholy way - not in a superjubilantholyfuckherewego kind of way.

  • Well Said,!

  • very well said. They have a certain special sound that no one has ever been able to duplicate. Sometimes, their music is depressing, but other times, it's very uplifting and encouraging. It's simply REAL. It never condescends, it never says "things will get better"...it always says "things are what they are...take your chances, and if you play it right, it'll work out"...and never apologizes.

  • @wdharveyoicu Hello? Sorry but this is Bruce Springsteen cover, it's a very sweet one.

  • @AndyRiotRed

This should be printed on t shirts....

    superjubilantholyfuckherewego!

    It's priceless!

    Thanks for the smile!!

  • War unser Hochzeitstanz 2007

  • @AndyRiotRed They are Grunge. Listen they have Cobain and Veder nailed, just alot better!

  • Love the effort anyone puts into a Springsteen song but this NEEDS to be sung by a man...

  • great version, this is my fav song by bruce.. and the CJ do it justice.. well done.. her voice is beautiful, first heard them over 20 years ago. today her voice still gets me..beautiful

  • check out the Grindstone Cowboys version.

  • very nice.

  • I've changed my mind. It's starting to grow on me.

  • 1. Bruce Springsteen 2. Melissa Etheridge 3. Frank Turner

(Not good enough: Cowboy Junkies, Dan Bern, Badly Drawn Boy and Greg Kihn)

  • "well roll down the windows' - it should really kick in - ithought that its good but doesnt have the intensity that ther versions that i heard of this, melissa everidge tears this song much better

  • I'd love to hear Margo cover Arlo's "The City of New Orleans". She kill on that!

  • that's a Steve Goodman song

  • @bonejure No, it's a bruce 's song, from Born to Run...

  • Nobody beats the boss, but this is a very nice version! Excellent singing!

  • I love the Cowboy Junkies. I always have, and I always will. But what I am hear in this song doesn't have the passion, the power and soulfulness that I hear in their vs, Powderfinger - that one makes me weep and I am dammed Yankee:-)

  • Love it..!!...thanks...christo

  • What about the Travelin Wilbury's ?

  • I've seen a lot of people try to cover this song and this is one of the few that works. Margo ain't the boss, but it's a nice effort.

  • Melissa Etheridge and Springsteen do a great version of the song

  • Beautiful song. luv XJ and Springsteen. sweet/somehow

  • splendid cover !!! bravo !! *****

    chris

  • simply beautiful

  • Amazing cover :D

  • beautiful version of this song. thanks for the upload.

  • Wow.. the Junkies can make ANY song beautiful. I'm a fan forever.

  • Gotta love this cover, thanks for the music!

  • Hey step back haters. Maybe Margo is paying tribute to the boss.

It's adifferent approach to a great song "and it ain't that bad and that's all right with me"

  • darn....that's pretty

  • If you did not follow the Cowboy Junkies and 10K Maniacs in the 1980's or see them live, I can see slighty see how you may compare Natalie Merchant to Margo Timmins. CJ's/ MT are more of a quiet-somber band. No real comparison to Natalie Mercant... a little with her solo career. I see no reason to try and slight MT, in this way. I saw the CJ's perform Thunder Road at the Count Base Theatre, in Red Bank, NJ. Basically, Bruce's back yard. Surprising and cool the way she pulled it off.

  • well this was not as bad as i first expected it to be, but you just can't beat the boss!

  • how can you insult the Boss after hearing the words of 'Thunder Road'? His voice isn't the best, but it's real and raw; this song is one of his best and is impeccable.

  • Lighten up, offy. There's no law that says everyone has to worship at the feet of Dr. Boss nor "Go-Kart Mozart."

  • I wouldn't say Margo is a poor woman's Natalie Merchant; I find her vocal range much better than Natalie's. But I still like them both, especially Natalie's work with 10,000 Maniacs.

  • You'll figure it out when you grow up SGT. HuggaTree.

  • who's your daddy

  • Cowboy Junkies did great covers of Neil Young's, "Pocahontas" and "Powderfinger". This is great, too.

  • and neil youngs 'helpless' margo so powerful with the vocal and there actually used to be vid of it posted here on yt but no more.

  • Ist ja wohl ne obergeile Version des absoluten Springsteenclassicers,Bruce würde es bestimmt auch so sehen, hoffe ich

  • Nicely done. It takes courage even to attempt to cover Springsteen. How do you come close? You can't.

  • Thanks a lot for posting here this song - from Budapest.

  • Thanks for posting a great song...Love the lyrics

  • Couldn't agree more...

    Thanks Susan.
