Nobody knew anything about the sword, the dwarves had only heard rumors. And the guards tried to stop him, but Falric and Marwyn (the Death Knights behind him) stopped them.

Arthas's two guards took care of it , when he dismantled his cape that was sign for them and then while those two took care of guards he went to the throne. Terenas was an old man and he could barely kill a cat and he had no chance to defend against overgrown maggot called arthas... also btw he surely didnt thought that he will kill him,he is his son after all,he thought he comes to hug or kiss him or smth and when he puted sword in his mouth he was very surprised and asked him wtf is he doing.

No, all heroes you controll dont go insane and starts killing their own people. However I find every item of great power turns the heroes into villains, Frostmourne, Skull of Gul'Dan, Narzhul (even though Arthas already was evil before getting the armor...)

Easter Egg: If you're Horde, go into the throne room in the Ruins of Lordaeron (Undercity Entrance). When you get into the room, turn up the ambience (From the Sound and Voice selection on the ESC menu) and if you listen closely you can hear Arthas saying the phrase "Suceeding you, father". Also, if you look closely on the ground, you can see blood covered rose petals from the beginning of the scene.

Arthas was set-up to be corrupted, cause the Legion chose him. they led him on a chase to 'purposely' defeat the legion in northrend, where the blade of frostmorne was laid. by picking up the sword, he became corrupted and the Lich had his new found hope to lead the undead.

If you understand the Warcraft Lore you will know that Frostmourne is part of the Lich King. Within the confines of the Frozen Throne he forged himself into a suit of armour and a sword with the capabilities to take over the body of whoever wears it. The Lich King did this because he knows that the Dreadlords will not give him a new body like they promised him before he created the Scourge.

Regarding the captions, isn't it Frostmourne who was whispering or brainwashing to Arthas' ears?

I've always got that spine-tingling sensation when Arthas said, "Succeeding you, father." Hence I keep playing that chapter "Frostmourne" in WC3: Reign of Chaos LoL.

This event cause the true beginning of the story of warcraft 3. Well I think it is but whatever. I think this scene was the best and the music really fit well with the whole scene. The king should had listen to the prophet but no he has not listen and this what happen.

Man... the execution on this particular cutscene was so beautiful it was just undeniable. The pleasurable harmony of the loud, booming chorus, followed by the single, soft female voice... the movie-esque graphics... the INCREDIBLE voice acting... Activision is still one of the original video game company KINGS.
