a little boy on a big black horse.. is that a movie ? in that case, whats the name of that movie ? :) I would like to see it :)) I love this video, it has a very good message, buuuuuuuuuuuuut I dont agree completely. When you show what you think the training is for the dressage moments I think you are wrong, cuz not everybody use those ways to train a horse, it can be NH there aswell.. You never know.. Sorry for my bad English.. :/
All of these pictures used are obviously in high levels of competition, in a moment when a horse tilts it's head, frothing a bit at the mouth from working.. Every one of these videos always shows pictures that look bad, but there are extremes to every side.
I won't say much, but all those dressage exercises they show in this movie, i also do with my horse. and he trusts me as much as the other side of the movie. so this doesn't say anything!
I dont think it is wrong to use tack on your horse, but I believe that the GOAL of using that tack should be to get you to a place with that horse that you can ride without. Some horses are just naturally strong willed and require more of an aid to remind them they need to listen to you. I had one mare that no matter what i did with her, she wouldnt listen to me when I rode in halter, so I keep her in snaffle. But my gelding I always ride in a halter. Good video though
ok i do say that it is true but not all riders are like that, would you ever train a horese like that??? with not bridel???? and ride it! listen unfortunatly thoses pics speak the truth but it isnt showing evrything! not all riders are like that, I love my horse to bits and I know she loves me back because when i come to see her she canters up to the fence to greet me, shure i ust a bridel and a curb chain she is happy, so im happy, i think you are only looking from one side.
I like the idea of natural horsemanship and developing a better connection with your horse, but I don't like the aspect of this video where you say that riding with bits and bridles are all force and pain and it leads to mistrust. I believe both ways are correct. I have always ridden horses with regular snaffle bits and developed strong relationships with them. Some horses are very strong and may take advantage of natural horsemanship. Honestly, it's not for all horses.
I LOVE it. I never use my mare's bridle (that her previous owners gave me), I use an improvised hackamore. And I've only ever ridden her once with a saddle. Lol. riding bareback not only is more bonding between horse and rider, it's great exercise. I've built some pretty awesome muscles in my legs. ;)
love this its how i feel too just amazing, ive ridden horses with long reins who normally take off and they work so much better so cudnt resist subbin to you just an amazing video love it
i do agree with natural horsemanship, but my horse use to be really bouncy and springy she was an amazing dressage horse, and as soon as i tried natural horsemanship stuff she became lazy and lost her oomff, shes only 11, thats not cool, and i understand that doesn't happen with all horses but i miss winning dressage shows!
I work with natural horsemanship and it's such an amazing thing, to get a real bond with your horse.. But dressage/jumping isn't always that bad. My mother rides dressage, and she has a great bond with her horse. But I like natural horsemanship better, to be honest. :)
My instructor uses a martingale with me because I'm a beginner, and too high handed..she's a firm believer in being fair to the horse and partnering with your horse..however,if you're going to show crops as being cruel, you're showing a man running alongside the horse *with* a small whip in his hand. I'm not saying that he uses them cruelly, but *any* piece of tack can be abused by those poorly trained in their use.I don't use spurs or crops bc i'm a beginner, and not *trained* to use them.
I think this is a lovely video but like many I have to add my two cents. I also feel like its a little harsh to portray dressage and show jumping in such a negative light. I want to remind everyone that some top riders practice natural horsemanship and even Venezuelan olympic show jumper Pablo Barrios jumps one of his mares in a bitless bridle. Lovely video, though I wish some more of the clips had been from real life and not movies.
horses were not born with tack . man has asked for to much control .not all cultures of people demand domination .rather we need to ask as a partnership oneness in this world .
just beautiful working in harmony .its time it takes time dedication to work this together like learning to play a violin it cant happen overnight . like learnig a new language .learning the language of the horse.
@iWrasseZz the horse doesn't have to learn anything, natural horsemanship is learning the body language of the horse. Every horse understands natural horsemanship, but the human has to learn it. If you just tried it once, of course it won't work.
@iWrasseZz Thats because you don't understand how natrual horsemanship works. Of course you're going to fall off if your horse dosen't know what it's being asked. It isn't a training it a partnership.
Hi I have started natural horsemanship with my horses. Does it matter that I am taking it super slow? One of my horses is very young and unbroken, so I am taking it slow so I earn his trust and love, we have already improved soo much, he now comes to me in the open paddock to nuzzle me and play, it is such an amazing difference to what he was like origionally where he would run like hell as soon as he saw me lol
this is the m-o-s-t A-M-A-Z-I-N-G video EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i sooooo agree and when you showed the bit with the eyes me and my friend nearly cryed, its like the most meening full video ever well done :D (soz 4 bad spelling) i subbed u :)
Cathy has hacked out for over 18 years & been concerned for many years one of her horses did not take to the bit. In early 2011 she started to "ask the question" a year later more and more questions are asked. What started off as a question has become a far more deeper quest to learn and discover through working together about bitless, treeless, now barefoot. Discovering on the way about Natural horsemanship & now in Jan 2012 about horse agility. Thank you for posting such an inspirational video
I love this!!!! I watched a few of the ladies at my barn in their first few Parrelli lessons and it was awesome. The unmanigable draft horse that nobody could work with was jumping barrels on a lunge line after 10 minutes!!! I only know the very basic stuff but when I work with Jericho (the horse I'm training) I always ask him to do things instead of forcing him, he listens very well and does what I ask really well!!
Okay first I do not think that competing is that bad, sure some people make it such wile others don't, yes some horses are treated very bad and a lot of people use unecesory equipment and such. But one has to remember that it is not always that bad and seriously just beacuse it is natural does not mean that one shouldn't wear a helmet, a horse is a animal and can get scared and wht will you do when you fall and hit your head? I am practicing natural horsemanship but sometimes I use both sadd
And I agree with a lot of others...anyone that knows anything about riding knows that the pics you've chosen are extreme positions and situations. My horse never looks like that and his eyes aren't all freakish, in fact, he loves his work in dressage. What you show isn't realistic. A couple jumps, maybe... go ahead and jump something significant on a green horse - you will go riiiight over his head...guarantee it.
I think a lot of this looks very unsafe. Showing young people riding without helmets? Sure that is great, but horses are prey animals...they are flight animals and I'm sorry but it IS their nature to spook - you cannot change that. If something scared that horse and it spooked or bucked, that rider is gone, and let's hope she doesn't get a kick in the head as she goes down.
id love to learn this, my horse is one of a kind, he has a beautiful character, and alot of the time i use a hackamore and bareback, because thats what i enjoy, and galloping through the woods. and i was wondering, what is the name of the second song?
It's a beautiful video and it really made me thinking. Not that I'm so bad for my horse, we love eachother and you can see that when we are riding. You don't have to put him in pain to make him listen to you. You have to find the balance between ''normal'' riding and Natural Horsemanship. Trust and love is very important in a relationship betweet humans and horses.
I choose the lifelong friendship. You learned me how many pain a horse haves if you do a competition or whatever, just have fun with your horse! :) Thank you.
Think about it this way.... If u want first place u need trust in your horse. I compete like every weekend... But my horse and i have a lot of trust n she is def my best friend:)
Not sure if you realize this, but all those horses in the clips being ridden tackless were trained to respond through use of a bridle and bit... Although many riders DO abuse tack (which absolutely disgusts me), most do not, and lashing out at the competitive world as a whole just makes you seem ignorant. It is a powerful video, but I suggest you preach against MISUSE of tack; not against the equipment itself. Nice video though.
@TheEquestrianne That's not true? Honza Blaha didn't train his horses by using bridle and bit. Actually, most people who practise natural horsemanship don't "break" a horse using a bit. It is possible to teach a horse to do it the natural way when it's already used to a bit but it's probably even easier to start without any tack, like I did..
You should check out parelli or just videos on youtube if you want to see how you can teach a horse to accept a rider without the use of tack.
I like your Video, but i'm also an Showjumping Rider and i must say, thats not all what horse jumping and dressage is. My horse loves jumping and i think you took verry "Hard" pictures of all these Show jump and dressage picturs, i think you haven't say all the truth, because normal riding is not so bad as that pictures say. Sometimes it is, but a good rider and a good horse, who loves each other, they can be a beautiful, and a harmonic team with lots of fun. Thats my opinion.
@Springponysearch Actually, a horse logically doesn't like to jump. Horses are instinct based creatures, and when you consider how much weight a horse carries on it's front legs when it's just WALKING, imagine the stress when everything goes into that. I find it hard to believe a horse could rationalize liking that. Horse and human can be just as beautiful together without having to earn ribbons.
Hello i love this. I would love to teach myself and my horse natural horsemanship, do you use natural horsemanship with your horse?? I would love to know how to go about introducing it to my horse. I am worried that 17 would be to late to introduce it. Lovely video though its really good! xxxx
@123majenta yes I do natural horsemanship with my horses. You don't have to worry about the age of your horse, because natural horsemanship is basicly horse body language so all horses wil understand it. It's you that has to learn it, the horse already knows how. I would recommend getting the Parelli 7 games, it's what I started with and I still have a lot of fun with it. (just google it). I hope this helps you.
this is a pathetic video. sure, people use way too much hand, and some horses aren't trained correctly. but trashing the entire dressage world (and jumping, but i don't care about that as much) is going way overboard.
natural horsemanship is great and fantastic etc. in every way, but this is an overreaction of EPIC proportions.
this video is good but when i tryed riding in a bridle and in a special like bareback saddle like a pad with a girth so u dont get covered in fluff the horse was very hard to controll and nearly ran off with me so a diffrent bit for a diffrent horse makes sence not al;l horses are perfect and thats why soo many go to slaughter and if you save 1 from it they may need a bit from bad behaviour hence y they werer sent there in the 1st place
This video is great, because I'm sure we wouldn't like being yanked around with a big piece of metal in our mouth. But to be honest, you over exaggerated a tiny bit. Those horses are used to that, and although it seems cruel, it's not animal cruelty. Were not hurting them, just being overly controlling.
c'est un grand débat que tu ouvre là dont les classique qui ne considère pas cette façon de monter comme une "équitation" valable ^^ tout simplement parce qu'il ont peur ... je suis de ton côté ;) et merci pour cette belle vidéo :)
@Esmeebelambelol my horse wouldn't hurt me now, he's a softy but i'm doing horsemanship with him at the moment and its fantasic. I totally see your point but some people don't have the time unfortunatley or they are competition horses which they only train for show - something i don't agree with!i think trust and bond between horse and rider is so important!
the images you've got are very biased. i ride mine in tack and it doesn't hurt him. Not all horse can be rode like that, they're too strong. Its a brillant way to ride but its not always possible!
All the horses can do it, with some horses it costs a year and some horses more than 5 years but it is always possible. And it's all about trust, if you and your horse trust eachother than I will be sure that your horse would never hurt you.
I saw you showed Rollkur - which is cruel.. but the idea behind dressage ain't that - it is to make the horse walk in a natural line because of balance and free will. I don't fucking think people are using thousands of dollars on their horse to make'em suffer, sorry mate. And yes, I agree in that less tack you're using - a finer horse you'll get.. it doesn't mean the horse are a victim for animal cruility just because u use it.. And tack has nothing with the realationship to the horse to do....
@sjorslovejou klopt juliette rijdt op heidi wel met bit maar dat komt VOLGENSMIJ ook doordat je met wedstrijden met bit moet. met diana rijdt ze soms wel bitloos en juliette trekt niet:)
I wish I coul give this vid more stars then 5. I also wish that all equestrian sport riders would watch this and see what they have made their horses become... this is just heartbreaking. me and my dad rescue horses and use natural horsemanship not bits and chains and crap like that.
@Horseluver572 ; i ride in tack and i don't do anything like this /: i don't whips spurs hard bits and all that. I have the softed bit you could and that is only because my riding school says so and i use my voice and seat! I don't kick/boot her i encourge her,
Some of the pictures you have put on have when a incident has occured and the rider has needed to hold onto their horse. It is always an amazing feeling to have that conection with your horse that you can be free together. I ride without tack but I wouldn't go out like that. You need tack when you go to show's etc.
I am all for your video, but you're putting a misunderstanding on this. Yeah you can ride can without tack, but not every horse/rider is capable of this achivement. I don't agree with 2 bits in yours horses mouth but for the rider to be safe sometimes you do need a harsher bit. Having a harsher bit prevents you from pulling on the horses mouth as much than having a bit that you need so much conact on the horses mouth.
Infact, would you be able to send me this video so that I can use it in a presentation at my college? I only need 2.50 minutes and I will not redistribute it. I´m doing an assignment on the use of bits, and would like to show this video as almost a final statement to get the other students thinking. Hope that will be ok? Please reply asap!
fantastic! I´m guessing you´re not from England? Would love to hear from any contacts you have that ride this way, this is my total dream and I want to start now!
My email address is PinkHyena@hotmail.co.uk. I would be so grateful if you could help me out! Thanks xx
I hate bit's of any kind, I have used a hackamore my whole life, and my horses respond beautifuly to it. I also have a filly, every time I see her she follows me around like a puppy, and she even protects me from anyone who is taller than me, including my father. I have laid with her in the pasture while letting her use my lap as a pillow, the bond between me, her, and her mother (my other horse) is compleatly unbreakable. I wish everyone could have a bond similar to me and my horses.
last year at our county fair i had enterd my horse strawerry and me in performance and gaming in gaming we walked the whole entire way in all events got all whites in gaming and performance the judge always placed me last but when we got home and still now i am able to ride bitless and bareback and gallope and jump because strawberry and i relised that natural horsmanship is better and that she liked to be ridden bitless and bareback and we had a better conecton.
Thank you for this loving presentation. Are our relationships based on fear or Love and Faith? I have a coffee business that takes me places like this and if we could learn to communicate this way, imagine how many lives we could touch. Thank you for this.
of course everybody should be kind and considerate to thier pets. you are playing off of people's unrealistic hope that thier 1,000lb horse will do whatever they want without ever having to get after them. even horses correct other horses-with methods less kind than a strong half halt. i use a saddle because it protects my hoses back on 4 hour trail rides-like her shoes protect her feet. and what else? omg a bit. don't ride them-thats natural.
Its all about what we want horses for. Like it or not we dominate everything we can and use it all for our purpose. I only like horses+countryside, no equine sports for me.Yet I understand that you can not really compete classical training a horse natural. Natural allows for free movement and flexibility all over while classical is strict, rigid and constricting. You compete on points and these are given or taken depending on that stupid system, no move out of line, no room for fun.
I don't know if some of you people really know what natural horsemanship is. It doesn't mean that you have to abandon tack or that you don't wear helmets. It just means that you are conscious of what could hurt your horse and you have a good relationship on the ground as well as mounted. You don't use fancy trailer wraps and you don't use box stalls. Also, bits, no mater what kind, no mater how you use it, will hurt the horse. Nevzorov Haute Ecole did the research. Go look it up.
Even if a person uses things like tack dosen't mean that they are bad, those photos are making us out to be bad riders i do ground horsemanship with my 2 year old but some horses just can not be trained to do the nice no tack way some have to have tack. and why us polo as how much tack, they use all that to stop saddle from slipping 1cm when the hit the ball to protect horses back. i honestly can ride good bareback due to a very bad injury so i could hurt the horses back by doing so?
I ride bareback on my 17.3 warmblood boy, but he's super mellow and we don't do anything too challenging (I'm pretty low as far as skill level). I like the connection I have with him that way, though. I'm rather new to horses, but I love it. As long as your saddle fits and doesn't hurt your horse, I see no problem with one, but there is definitely something special about bareback too. And it works on any size. :D
@Rowanriver i used to ride my 16.3 bareback but it bolted and i fell of breaking my tail bone so im alittle nervous at bare back and my old gal would kill me as she is an gymkana pony so bolts and turns on a sixpence lol but bare back is fun and has great connection :D good look with your horse in future you sound like a brill rider
I love natural horse manship, and i use it daily, but everysingle one of those horses that can do that start with a bit and a saddle, it dosent mean ripping on their mouth, and a saddle is good it distributes weight properly on its back. i can jump on m horse in the feild and run around with voice and position commands, but i can also ride smothly through a 3 foot course with next to no pressure on the bit
@GallopingPerchrons ... that's too much of a generalization. be careful when you use the phrase "every single one". i know plenty of horses that have never had a bit in their mouth and are perfectly fine.
don't you think you can have a lifelong friendship and a successful competitive career? because to be successful at the top levels in any discipline require a very high level of understanding and trust, and working in perfect harmony, so that the horse knows what you want it to do almost as soon as you think it, which are the same results acheived through natural horsemanship?
Im sorry but all this natural horsemanship stuff is a bunch of crap and make believe..There is nothing natural about keeping a horse in a cage most of his life, there is nothing natural about putting a halter and leading em around with a rope. The sad truth is that we have bad, ignorant and cruel riders in every discipline, people with no "horse sense" Natural horsemanship is just a method designed especially for todays horse people, who are ignorant people that are just clueless about horses.
@regaloj101 that my friend is where you a wrong..natural horsemanship is the best thing for your horse! and it isint natural horsemanship if your horse is locked up in a stall or if you put shoes on their feet or metal in their mouth
I didnt mean just a stall, even an acreage is a cage for an animal that has evolved to run for hours and hours. Theres nothing natural about humans jumping on their backs and telling them what to do, no matter how we do it, period.
Patience, understanding and care above all! No matter the method. If its so natural, why do u still have to teach it and practice it with your horse? Its just a method for recreational riders who dont have much knowledge of horses.
I think some of you are misinterperting the video...it's not saying to stop using tack...it's saying that if you develop a strong relationship with your horse in a natural way, you don't need to rely on tack for everything...it becomes an aid instead of a crutch.
I just LOVE this video! It's so TRUE! It's sad also, but so real. Thank you so much for making it and putting it up on you tube so we all can learn from it! R, from Finland
If you use many traditional training methods, you will have ribbon but not a good relationship with your horse. If you use a more natural, balanced approach, you can still show, and you'll do much better because the horse trusts you and you work as a team.
and no offence to anyone i think that putting a rope around the neck is worst then a bit because...what if your horse bolts...you grap the rope then..guess what your chokeing it.then what happens if it bucks or refuses and your hanging on the neck 80% of those people would be holding onto the rope causing the horse more distress by blocking its airway
This made me think but i use tack and i love my horse to death but i do Not use a crop because my horse hates them (she's an ex-race horse) so i refuse to use it !
but what i am trying to say is Just because you use tack does not mean your horse isn't important to you or that you don't love your horse..you can still have a Strong bond with your horse. i do Not believe in Rollkur either. :)
Well, i would like to see you and your horsemanship on a warmblod horse jumping 5" ;) It's kinda true that some riders exagerate on pulling in the mouth of the horse, but after watching this video, it's like if riders who use bridles and crops doesn't like their horse... And a lot of us are only using those when needed. I ride with a saddle, a bridle and a crop that I never use but I will always love my horse and I will always do the best for him ;)
oh, dude I so like this video, it so makes u think!
What I relly dislike is that in the "freedome" part theyare'nt wearing helmets witch in some countrys are law on! I don't mean to be someone who only follows rules but this contains so, so, so much training! Not everyone can do it. Tack does'nt NEED to be painful if you use it right! But you can always find a better relation with your horse :) But the feeling when you make it is so great, SO hard to explain.
To tell you the truth, I study horse man ship, I am also a dressage rider. I am all against polo riding, except for some horses love polo. When horses get excited they do thoes kinds of jerking with their heads. Also when horses get relaxed they tend to look like what you just said in dressage. dresage riders and all outhers are in for the horses well being. They disqualify anyone that over works, hits with the whip too much, cpiked or ileagol bits, sharp spirs, and too long of whips.
this made me cry x wonderful, i do not follow any programs like parelli or turnout or whatever and i don't know that much about them but i have a very basic bond with my mare, she comes when i whistle, not out of obedience, but because we simply enjoy our time together more than any other time! x we can ride bareback and bridelless because it is a totally mutual relationship where we rely on each other for support x and many other things x x
@amandaz96 do you know anything! about horses?, seriously, how do you think the first riders coped, in a perfectly equal bond with their horse, no saddle, ho0nestly, goodness, no saddly is the natural way to ride it doesnt rub, it doesn't press in the wrong(painfull places) like some saddles can you simply sit and move together, if the horse is oin pain, he will unseat you x
@ebbnmaggs Hm, do you think YOU can anything about horses?! I'm a veterinary so I know. I have seen many hurted horse backs. And in "normal riding" the horse have not any pain. The thing they show in this video its not normal riding it's animal cruelty. See the difference!
This is a very beautiful video you have made. It showes that we horsepeople can decide to make a better band to your horse without all there equipment we are using in our days with our 4legs animal.
A horse can actually be ridden without a bridle and a sadel ;)
Its a very good vid and i understand you :) but we have to remember that dressage sometimes is the key to a better relationship, espially because you use some clips of horses from movies, and they have trained hard to be that good, they might have been having such a bad time as those horses were they just pull the reins :) Its not always that easy to be in such good contact with your horse like e.g Honza Blaha, cuz he's amazing :)
The beginning makes normal rides look really bad, I admire this but not all riders r like that, I know that my horse LOVES going out and going to shows and the pictures in that r people over using there tack but not everyone is like that, I know that I am very light on my horses mouth and I ride i
I just want to say i really love this video and im not critisizing, but just wanted to mention that actually, riding bareback too often can hurt your horses back and can mess with balance and all that. like i said, great video, not saying theres anything wrong with a little bit of bareback
its not the bit......or the tack, its how you use it.

I've built some pretty awesome muscles in my legs. ;)

i do agree with natural horsemanship, but my horse use to be really bouncy and springy she was an amazing dressage horse, and as soon as i tried natural horsemanship stuff she became lazy and lost her oomff, shes only 11, thats not cool, and i understand that doesn't happen with all horses but i miss winning dressage shows!

Lovely video, though I wish some more of the clips had been from real life and not movies.

iWrasseZz 1 week ago
@iWrasseZz the horse doesn't have to learn anything, natural horsemanship is learning the body language of the horse. Every horse understands natural horsemanship, but the human has to learn it. If you just tried it once, of course it won't work.
lotteblue10 1 week ago 7
@iWrasseZz Thats because you don't understand how natrual horsemanship works. Of course you're going to fall off if your horse dosen't know what it's being asked. It isn't a training it a partnership.

Hi I have started natural horsemanship with my horses. Does it matter that I am taking it super slow? One of my horses is very young and unbroken, so I am taking it slow so I earn his trust and love, we have already improved soo much, he now comes to me in the open paddock to nuzzle me and play, it is such an amazing difference to what he was like origionally where he would run like hell as soon as he saw me lol

A couple jumps, maybe... go ahead and jump something significant on a green horse - you will go riiiight over his head...guarantee it.
mls616 2 weeks ago
I think a lot of this looks very unsafe. Showing young people riding without helmets? Sure that is great, but horses are prey animals...they are flight animals and I'm sorry but it IS their nature to spook - you cannot change that. If something scared that horse and it spooked or bucked, that rider is gone, and let's hope she doesn't get a kick in the head as she goes down.

But my horse and i have a lot of trust n she is def my best friend:)
jayify01 1 month ago
Not sure if you realize this, but all those horses in the clips being ridden tackless were trained to respond through use of a bridle and bit... Although many riders DO abuse tack (which absolutely disgusts me), most do not, and lashing out at the competitive world as a whole just makes you seem ignorant. It is a powerful video, but I suggest you preach against MISUSE of tack; not against the equipment itself. Nice video though.
TheEquestrianne 1 month ago 9

Springponysearch 1 month ago 17

Lovely video though its really good! xxxx
123majenta 1 month ago
@123majenta yes I do natural horsemanship with my horses. You don't have to worry about the age of your horse, because natural horsemanship is basicly horse body language so all horses wil understand it. It's you that has to learn it, the horse already knows how. I would recommend getting the Parelli 7 games, it's what I started with and I still have a lot of fun with it. (just google it). I hope this helps you.

this is a pathetic video. sure, people use way too much hand, and some horses aren't trained correctly. but trashing the entire dressage world (and jumping, but i don't care about that as much) is going way overboard.
natural horsemanship is great and fantastic etc. in every way, but this is an overreaction of EPIC proportions.

this video is good but when i tryed riding in a bridle and in a special like bareback saddle like a pad with a girth so u dont get covered in fluff the horse was very hard to controll and nearly ran off with me so a diffrent bit for a diffrent horse makes sence not al;l horses are perfect and thats why soo many go to slaughter and if you save 1 from it they may need a bit from bad behaviour hence y they werer sent there in the 1st place
horseygal12345 1 month ago
This video is great, because I'm sure we wouldn't like being yanked around with a big piece of metal in our mouth. But to be honest, you over exaggerated a tiny bit. Those horses are used to that, and although it seems cruel, it's not animal cruelty. Were not hurting them, just being overly controlling.

the images you've got are very biased. i ride mine in tack and it doesn't hurt him. Not all horse can be rode like that, they're too strong. Its a brillant way to ride but its not always possible!
JustSmileMakeup21 1 month ago 3
@JustSmileMakeup21,
All the horses can do it, with some horses it costs a year and some horses more than 5 years but it is always possible. And it's all about trust, if you and your horse trust eachother than I will be sure that your horse would never hurt you.
Esmeebelambelol 1 month ago
I saw you showed Rollkur - which is cruel.. but the idea behind dressage ain't that - it is to make the horse walk in a natural line because of balance and free will. I don't fucking think people are using thousands of dollars on their horse to make'em suffer, sorry mate. And yes, I agree in that less tack you're using - a finer horse you'll get.. it doesn't mean the horse are a victim for animal cruility just because u use it.. And tack has nothing with the realationship to the horse to do....

Some of the pictures you have put on have when a incident has occured and the rider has needed to hold onto their horse. It is always an amazing feeling to have that conection with your horse that you can be free together. I ride without tack but I wouldn't go out like that. You need tack when you go to show's etc.
GeorgiaAliceHales 2 months ago
I am all for your video, but you're putting a misunderstanding on this. Yeah you can ride can without tack, but not every horse/rider is capable of this achivement. I don't agree with 2 bits in yours horses mouth but for the rider to be safe sometimes you do need a harsher bit. Having a harsher bit prevents you from pulling on the horses mouth as much than having a bit that you need so much conact on the horses mouth.

I wish everyone could have a bond similar to me and my horses.

of course everybody should be kind and considerate to thier pets. you are playing off of people's unrealistic hope that thier 1,000lb horse will do whatever they want without ever having to get after them. even horses correct other horses-with methods less kind than a strong half halt. i use a saddle because it protects my hoses back on 4 hour trail rides-like her shoes protect her feet. and what else? omg a bit. don't ride them-thats natural.

You compete on points and these are given or taken depending on that stupid system, no move out of line, no room for fun.

rideintexas 3 months ago
I don't know if some of you people really know what natural horsemanship is. It doesn't mean that you have to abandon tack or that you don't wear helmets. It just means that you are conscious of what could hurt your horse and you have a good relationship on the ground as well as mounted. You don't use fancy trailer wraps and you don't use box stalls. Also, bits, no mater what kind, no mater how you use it, will hurt the horse. Nevzorov Haute Ecole did the research. Go look it up.
royalparadigm 3 months ago
Even if a person uses things like tack dosen't mean that they are bad, those photos are making us out to be bad riders i do ground horsemanship with my 2 year old but some horses just can not be trained to do the nice no tack way some have to have tack. and why us polo as how much tack, they use all that to stop saddle from slipping 1cm when the hit the ball to protect horses back. i honestly can ride good bareback due to a very bad injury so i could hurt the horses back by doing so?
showjumpingchick1994 3 months ago
@showjumpingchick1994 can't ride good bareback sorry lol

I ride bareback on my 17.3 warmblood boy, but he's super mellow and we don't do anything too challenging (I'm pretty low as far as skill level). I like the connection I have with him that way, though. I'm rather new to horses, but I love it. As long as your saddle fits and doesn't hurt your horse, I see no problem with one, but there is definitely something special about bareback too. And it works on any size. :D

GallopingPerchrons 3 months ago
@GallopingPerchrons ... that's too much of a generalization. be careful when you use the phrase "every single one". i know plenty of horses that have never had a bit in their mouth and are perfectly fine.
royalparadigm 3 months ago

NHS is not alway that friendly the horse. e.g. "join-up"s are stress for them.
JaguarsShadow94 3 months ago
don't you think you can have a lifelong friendship and a successful competitive career? because to be successful at the top levels in any discipline require a very high level of understanding and trust, and working in perfect harmony, so that the horse knows what you want it to do almost as soon as you think it, which are the same results acheived through natural horsemanship?
veedebee 3 months ago
Im sorry but all this natural horsemanship stuff is a bunch of crap and make believe..There is nothing natural about keeping a horse in a cage most of his life, there is nothing natural about putting a halter and leading em around with a rope. The sad truth is that we have bad, ignorant and cruel riders in every discipline, people with no "horse sense" Natural horsemanship is just a method designed especially for todays horse people, who are ignorant people that are just clueless about horses.
regaloj101 3 months ago
@regaloj101 that my friend is where you a wrong..natural horsemanship is the best thing for your horse! and it isint natural horsemanship if your horse is locked up in a stall or if you put shoes on their feet or metal in their mouth
MsKenzie999 3 months ago
@MsKenzie999
Its just a method for recreational riders who dont have much knowledge of horses.
regaloj101 3 months ago
you can't call it 'Natural Horsemanship' because it starts to get unnatural when your on the horse =)
the saddle is just to make in more comfortable with a good fitting saddle, so nothing bad for the horse.
the most people just ride with a normal bit, so it doesnt hurt if you use it on the right way.
you can have a strong relationship with your horse, but still using all your tack.

lojagreen10 3 months ago
and no offence to anyone i think that putting a rope around the neck is worst then a bit because...what if your horse bolts...you grap the rope then..guess what your chokeing it.then what happens if it bucks or refuses and your hanging on the neck 80% of those people would be holding onto the rope causing the horse more distress by blocking its airway

but what i am trying to say is Just because you use tack does not mean your horse isn't important to you or that you don't love your horse..you can still have a Strong bond with your horse. i do Not believe in Rollkur either. :)

i ride with a bit and it doesnt cause pain to the horse unless you use it incorrectly
it can be helpful for the people who know who to use them correctly but bad for the people who dont.
I can ride my horse bareback bridless and jump with him .......but still i use i bit on other days they arnt bad unless used for that specific reason

I (mostly) agree with natural horsemanship, but really this calls for a:
The awkward moment when these people fall off their horse due to lack of control or grip and crack their skulls open/breck their necks.
"Oops, sorry mom. 'Twas doing natural horsemanship. I guess I'll never walk again!"
Promoting galloping full speed with no helmets or proper footwear wasn't the best idea.

A few grammatical and spelling errors, but otherwise this video is very good and so very, very, true.

oh, dude I so like this video, it so makes u think!

Less equipment - better rider.
I love working with NH, it always feels amazing when your horse understand what you meant and all!

They disqualify anyone that over works, hits with the whip too much, cpiked or ileagol bits, sharp spirs, and too long of whips.

this made me cry x wonderful, i do not follow any programs like parelli or turnout or whatever and i don't know that much about them but i have a very basic bond with my mare, she comes when i whistle, not out of obedience, but because we simply enjoy our time together more than any other time! x we can ride bareback and bridelless because it is a totally mutual relationship where we rely on each other for support x and many other things x x

if you ride without a saddle, you can damage your horse's back just saying...
And "normally riding" can be beautiful too. Everything has a good side and a bad!
