Amazing work man. The remix alone is better than any other i've seen on youtube plus the tutorial was really helpful. Just missing how you do the stutter/remix effect during the drop at 9:09... the pla-aaa-aaa-a-a-a-an kinda thing. I've been tried to do it with gates, slicing to a midi controller, panning, and muting but no matter how i try to do it always comes out real choppy. Been searching all over youtube and cant find any good tutorials. Maybe you could put up a tutorial for it?
I can't believe this has only 5000 views this should get millions, you are beast and you have really helped me. Whenever I tried to do this stuff I failed but this'll definitely help.
How many keys is on your MIDI-controller? I can't figure out how many keys i'll need, so i thought what ever you find necessary would probably bee a good advice for me. I've mostly been playing guitar and a little bit of bass, and i wan't to get into composing. Cool tutorial btw :) very interesting
hey man - nice work here, loving the fact that you incorporate real instruments into it :)
couple things i noticed that might make your help your production:
Try and keep your kick and snare levels as even as possible. That way, if you're utilizing sidechain compression on your synths, it'll be much easier to come up with a smooth, level sound.
Also, maybe send all of your synths to a bus, and compress them all together, eliminating any overpowering synths.
Man awesome tutorial, I am looking at FL Studios and it looks pretty good - would I be able to make my own dubstep beats with only that software? I am not musically gifted but I want to learn and I want to start by creating some good beats... just a question (I honestly don't know the answer to this) - is it not copyright infringement to use another persons song and remix it yourself? Or is that allowed as long as you change it up enough? Thanks!
@PitlyTV thanks! yeah u can do a lot with fl studio..i've never used it but know quite a few people who do..if u try to sell a remix then it would be copyright infringement
@goodlyfeaddikts hey dude I'm starting out making some mixes but with some pretty poor equipment tbh, it's just completely on my laptop using free software, but I'm wondering, is it really important to be good with instruments to get good, cos you clearly are, or day reckon I can manage with my pretty poor knowledge? Either way great vids dude and you really should be signed to a label or summat?
@TheSlizzer348 thanks man..lots of ppl are not good with instruments and u really don't need to be since it's a lot of computer stuff..i just like adding the live element to give it some soul. reason is a great software to start with..lot's of ppl like fruity loops and i've seen it's power despite everyone talking shit about it..i use ableton and reason together..cheers

@purpskurp1 set ur grid so it's in 16ths or 32nds and delete the audio for every other 16th or 32nd for your stutter effect.
