I wonder if there is a way to replace the music in the Amiga version with the music in Mega Drive version? Would require someone with a lot of hacking/cracking knowledge I guess.
@ClassicTVMan1981X Not sure to be honest. I can't imagine it sounding any different to the Mega Drive version as the 'Paula' wouldn't have to work all that hard to play it.
@NitroTab1 The megadrive's two sound chips have more channels. So it can have more complex compositions than the Amiga. Music using all 10 channels on a megadrive wouldn't be easy to play on the 4 channel Paula chip.
@andyukmonkey You have no idea what you are talking about, the Megadrive's sound chip was paltry compared to the Amiga's. The amount of sound channels is irrelevant, the Amiga more than makes up for this with sampled sounds as opposed to the 'bleep bleep' artificial chip sounds of the Megadrive. You can do sample mixing to produce eight channels from the Amiga's four quite easily. Also the Megadrive has 8 sound channels not 10.
@BuckoA51 The Amiga may have had a more sophisticated sound chip but in my opinion the music on the Amiga version of RR sounds drab, boring and monotonous.
The Mega Drive version on the other hand (produced by the very talented Rob Hubbard) sounds funkier and a bit more varied. Sometimes it's not all about the technical aspect behind the music but how it makes you feel when listening to it. ;)
Of course, the different music and sound FX heard in this port was the work of Jason A.S. Whitely, as opposed to Rob Hubbard and Mike Bartlow who did the sound and music for the Genesis version of Road Rash.
Even though I think it would be better with the Mega Drive themes instead of the Amiga ones I do quite like the title screen music. That would have sounded awesome on the Mega Drive with the bass I reckon. I still play Road Rash 1,2,3 even today, they are timeless classics.
No, I am 33 and I think you will find that it came out on the Megadrive first. I can't find any information saying otherwise. I do recall seeing it in an Amiga mag months after I had my MD cart. The Amiga came out first yes but the game did not. Would you like to be wrong about anything else or assume anything else?
And when I say real music, you due to your ignorance assumed I meant like what what we have in games. What I meant, and you would have known this if you new the MD one came out first is that the Amiga version did not have the Rob Hubbard soundtrack. So the "real" music is missing. Finished looking down on me yet or would you like to troll some more?
So I state again, YUCK!!!!!!!!!! Nasty music..... Where is the real music? The Rob Hubbard soundtrack? Pacific Coast was the best, I used to blast that out. The MD had a headphone jack on it.
OK First, I'm sorry. I mistook you for one of those 20-somethings that think they know their gaming history. >=] @ someone my own age that knows their gaming history. Looks like I'll have to brush up a bit more. BTW I wasn't trolling though its been quite a while since I played an Amiga.
hey...im only 20 something...well 22. i love the old games...and unlike others i am interested in the past of games...iv always played retro games. i still do...im not exactly the oricle of gaming but i know some stuff >_>
I would say it is the best choice for developing in the 90's. However there are games that came out for Sega Genesis that I wish had been made for the AMIGA. Shadow of the Beast was better on AMIGA than any system, but games like Alien Soldier for Dega Genesis, 4 those of us who put in the effort to find'em, got to play some of the most impressive action games ever coded.
Who ever came up with this game was way ahead of there time

I hated it when a car came out of nowhere and smacked you off your bike. And so began the hike back to your lifeless bike....awesome game, though.

Hmm. The graphics destroy the Sega Genesis/MegaDrive version. Music as well.
Not surprised =)

Sorry to bug you with one more question, but why is it that sometimes Natasha has a serious look on her face and sometimes she smiles at you?
Daniel100Benner 6 months ago
@Daniel100Benner
Which is why they fixed her look on Road Rash II and Road Rash 3: Tour de Force.

Funny, U always thought Natasha was a nice girl in that game when I used to have it.

I can't help but wonder if that is Natasha on the float in that lake part.

Also, I wonder how the Rob Hubbard soundtrack of the Genesis original would fare through the Amiga soundchip?

The Amiga computer predates quite a few consoles. This was good stuff back in the day. Judging by that response, This game probably predates you.

Last comment, this is still good and I often play RR1 and 2 and also RR64 on my emulators and Nokia N958g. Not the N64 on the phone though. :(
