  • this is typical weather for North Palm Springs.

  • Maybe when the wind blows that strong, it doesn't feel quite as overpoweringly hot as it usually does there.

  • HA! Instead of feeling like you stuck your head in an over, it's like sticking your head in a windy oven. GREAT if you need your hair dry quick...

  • okay ill do that , thank you so much i was worried too

  • damn that was bad , hope no one got hurt . I have a quick question , I live in Canada near Toronto and I haven't heard anything about Darlene Rocky, You know The Woman with anorexia :( in over a year. just wanted to know how shes doing if you've heard anything please let me know , Thanks Matthew

  • Matthew,

Yep - she is still around. I was worried for a few months as she kinda disappeared, but I snapped a picture of her back on her route downtown last week. I was going to post a link, but YouTube doesn't allow url's. How non web 2.0 lame is that? Anyway - I'm Cobber99 on Flickr and if you search for "Darlene" you will find it. Doesn't seem like she has gained any unfortunately.

  • that was one bad storm. you have a lot of good footage. =)

  • you must work for the Follies. Your acess is pretty limitless. where did the roofing material (that landed in the road last weekend) come from? That building or another?

if you have more footage I'd love to see it. If you have aftermath shots too. I went downtown at 3am and it was still devastated!

  • Well, six total panels blew off the Westman-owned building there behind the library on the corner of Tahquitz and Palm, but I could only find 3 of the 6! Two flew over to the back roof of the Plaza Theatre and one was ON La Plaza. Wild!

  • And just what were those panels held down by? Paper chains? Elmer's school glue?

  • Yeah - such is the quality of the buildings downtown - mostly all owned by one man.

  • I think I'd have to agree. I have personally experienced 60+ mile per hour winds many times before, and there was never any structural damage to my house, or within the surrounding neighborhood. Heck, I even saw videos of roofs that stayed on buildings through Hurricane Andrew, which was 175 miles per hour with gusts to 200 for a full 5 hours.

  • The wind doesn't blow in the Coachella Valley....it sucks!

  • What are you nuts?

  • Wow what a mess. Good editing too.
