I've now seen Mr Cray four times in Glasgow,he is a ''one off'' ,no one comes close and to stand within just 3 feet from(barrowland) him and listen to that talent is just incredible!
This is what they call "Grown man's music" ! So clean , so deep, you can feel his bluesy touch melting through the jazzy sound...That's so magical....Kind of song that makes the audience stop everything they're doing and listen to it. GREAT JOB ROBERT !!!!
run, don't walk tell all you meet about this amazing artist. I first heard him on Claptons Crossroads dvd. its really sucks that we are not aware of artists such as Cray because all that is shoved in our faces on tv and radio are young pretty things who wouldn't know what good music is if it..........u know the rest. One Love...Peace
@herdygerdy36 He's on "Legends of Jazz." He's hardly underrated. Many of his albums were either at the top or very near the top of the US Top Blues albums chart. Just saying :)
Robert really puts it out there. The man is totally awesome! Good voice and the strat to go with it. Seen him perform last month, waited 20 years, well worth it!

Robert Cray is simply one of the best story tellers alive today!
Look, his talent as a player are phenomenal, but his story telling draws a picture that makes it necessary for the listener to focus on the song, and enjoy it.
Likewise, it's much too difficult to really nail his style of play, unlike emulating a player's sound, his style is so out of left field that just owning his signature guitar and using a Vibroking amp wont cut it.
it isnt actually a "real" tele. it is a custom guitar made by a man named James Trussart.check out his web site, he makes insane steel body guitars that sound/feel amazing.really hefty price tag.
