  • Great tune !!!

  • I can't compare him-one of a kind, man.

  • oh he has sooo much soul in his voice..lovin it !

  • Cray has got it all: lean good looks, great guitar licks, and last but not least - smooth, soulful vocals. Been a long time fan. Thanks for the post.

  • Tabs please!!!! i can't figure this out -_- also such smooth blues. He's such an underrated guitarist

  • those 10 ppl that disliked it must of been gingers with out souls cause got damn he can jam

  • This man knows how to jam. Blues on the Fox!!! June 17th 2011 he'll be there!! Can't wait :)

  • Id love to see him play his words are modern poetry of blues music

  • Is he playing a St. Blues guitar? Does anyone know?

  • I love this man...awesome talent! Time to go to another concert!!

  • I LOVE THIS MAN. AWESOME TALENT! TIME FOR ME TO GO TO ANOTHER CONCERT!

  • I'd like to kno more about that tele he's playin, it sounds good. Of course he could make a toys r us guitar sound good.

  • @Bigj913 His guitar is a James Trussart Steelcaster. I've never played one, but Robert sure makes it sound great.

  • Whoa, that's harsh man, tough lyrics! Reminds me of my exwife....

  • @toddallenhooper .. man if it hurts me loosing a girl-friend I have no idea what losing a wife feels.. I guess music really bring people closer

  • Purest blues guitar playing on this planet

  • cry baby.. 8)

  • Smooth as silk!

  • His guitar playing is as soulful as his voice!

  • it's nice to see/hear him with a Tele... of course it's not the guitar but the player :)

  • This is what they call "Grown man's music" ! So clean , so deep, you can feel his bluesy touch melting through the jazzy sound...That's so magical....Kind of song that makes the audience stop everything they're doing and listen to it. GREAT JOB ROBERT !!!!

  • hope to see him live one day before i die he is the def of smooth

  • so smooth and relaxing

  • that's why i love BLUES so baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!!!

  • Robert Cray is totally worth seeing live if you get the chance. He's so at ease playing; he's smooth and soulful.

  • Superb again Robert - all the way from Aotearoa...swinging blue...no regrets going to a Robert Cray and his Band concert...no regrets ever

  • me encanta este video gracias a los musicos...

  • Wow, Good tune Robert

  • run, don't walk tell all you meet about this amazing artist. I first heard him on Claptons Crossroads dvd. its really sucks that we are not aware of artists such as Cray because all that is shoved in our faces on tv and radio are young pretty things who wouldn't know what good music is if it..........u know the rest. One Love...Peace

  • AWESOME! He can sing to me anytime.

  • such a class!

  • Thanks for the information, I wasn't aware. I'm just saying in general.. Cheers.

  • Very under rated awsome musician. Amazing, pass the smoke

  • @herdygerdy36 He's on "Legends of Jazz." He's hardly underrated. Many of his albums were either at the top or very near the top of the US Top Blues albums chart. Just saying :)

  • Smooth, Robert Smoooooootttthhhh!

  • Robert really puts it out there. The man is totally awesome! Good voice and the strat to go with it. Seen him perform last month, waited 20 years, well worth it!

  • @tfullcat while he does normally play a Strat, this one was a Telecaster.

  • @grinchmonkey That was a Trussart Steelcaster. That's right it's a steel body, and got a spanky sound.

  • i like

  • this man has much on his mind. you don't believe.... then you're not listening to the song as you should!

  • Awesome musician. I actually bought his signiature strat about twelve hours ago. The man has great taste in instruments

  • ah man i saw him live over the summer. great show.

  • They're some nice licks at about 3:40, nice and chilled-out.

    Great-looking guitar too.

  • beautiful tele

  • Great voice ,great song great band ,the piano sound is too artificial. Love his guitar playin

  • every once in a while i come back to see this video, always sweet to listen to robert playing and singin'

  • Electric piano sounds are too obvious. hey that's the DX-blah blah, If you can get a real piano on stage, drop it. use an organ sound or something. or even a rhodes/wurlitzer. but a fake piano sound ruins it for me every time.

  • Notice how great guitarist can m ake that critter speak, rather it's jazz, blues, rock, country..but you know what they say behind every great guitarist is a great bassist...true here too. hey thanks for this Ljazz. The man is REMARKABLE.

  • he isbetter than Clapton, I love his music and guitar playing

  • vai699 there's no way to compare them.... no way what's so ever.... both musicians are great, both musicians are idols to many people, both musicians make music from there hearts

  • gooooooooooood

  • He reminds me of a young BB King, but his voice is truly unique and distinct from BBK and just as satisfying.

  • I'll never forget seeing him at EBs in Roxbury when he was an unknown. Best times of my life were spent in that bar

  • glass of some good scotch, a cigarette, and this man singing is all i need xD

  • @blacklung7 Totally what I am doing now! Cheers! And thanks we know how GOOD this is!

  • @blacklung7 hell ya

  • I saw him opening for Clapton in 2006, I was really impressed!

  • Robert Cray is simply one of the best story tellers alive today!

Look, his talent as a player are phenomenal, but his story telling draws a picture that makes it necessary for the listener to focus on the song, and enjoy it.

  • Crayasms..The Best!!!!

  • Amazing!

  • Eargasm

  • Ohrgasmus (german)

  • Nobody plays the blues like Cray, he's so unique in a world of SRV imitators...

  • Likewise, it's much too difficult to really nail his style of play, unlike emulating a player's sound, his style is so out of left field that just owning his signature guitar and using a Vibroking amp wont cut it.

  • that telecaster sounds like the best orgasm.

  • Wow never seen him play a telecaster! Nice!

  • it isnt actually a "real" tele. it is a custom guitar made by a man named James Trussart.check out his web site, he makes insane steel body guitars that sound/feel amazing.really hefty price tag.

  • lo maximo

  • lo maximo

  • vi esta presentacion de Robert, es increible, jamas escuche algo tan increible este hombre es lo maximo, creoq ue es del programa leyendas del Blues and Jass, una verdadera leyenda viviente!

  • so relaxing :) and nice performance

  • His guitar sound so fender and it's very good !

  • Hells Yeah!

  • BEEEEEEEEESTTTTTTTTTTT yeah!

  • Yes, it is the real music. it has soft sound and makes me so relax .... :):):)

  • true music at last

  • Best Yeah..

  • BEST!

  • awesome!

  • So hard to find good stuff these days, outstanding stuff.

  • I think it's a James Trussart...

  • sorry for my ignorance.... but... it's that a fender showmaster????

  • No Its a Fender Telecaster ,,

  • Simply amazing on so many levels!

  • amazing performance and artist - very underrated. Which album is this ?

  • He's singing about kicking his smoking habit....

  • wonderful song...wow

  • a beautiful soulful performer. I was fortunate enough to be in the front row of an awesome performance of his. The depth of his feeling in each song just pulled on my soul. a great and underappreciated artist!

  • incredible artist

  • Is this a Cray song or a cover?

  • It's a Cray origional---written by his keys player Jim Pugh--Masterpiece!!!

  • great song, what is it about? :))0

  • I got to see Robert Cray @ BBKings in NYC last week and woooooow! He sounds as good as ever and he has Richard Cousins back on bass; very good energy and the crowd loved him. What a pro!!!!!

  • Just saw him last night in Pa--Great venue...The guy gets better with age..On the scale of being phenomenal he's way off the chart...

  • does anyone know the chords of this song??

    Thanks

  • che classe...

  • One of the few artists around nowadays who sound equally as good live as they do on cd. Amazing.

  • i've never heard this song before, i've always known robert for his blues. The whole groove to it is jazzy but you can definitely hear his blues in his solos.

Such a good song, this is the definition of cool.

  • blues rock and jazz were great music. when metal rap rnb punch etc came out... its just not music any more its literally crap... the old musicians had something diff nowdays they r all just crap. very few real musicians left

  • so true brother. So true.

  • One of my least favourite Cray tunes.I think it's about Jim giving up smoking.I recently saw Cousins performing with Cray, where was Sevareid, has he left? Also a different drummer, check out fenders kick off on youtube it's on there.

  • Meant for all of us....What a wonderful performer..=)

  • What album is this from? Just heard this song for the first time today and it is clearly my favourite cray song

  • It's off of TWENTY----People don't(can't)make music like this anymore!!

  • I'm not trying to be rude or anything but TWENTY was released in May of 2005, it's not that old. There are still some good musicians out there, you just have to look abit harder for them.

  • I'm very well aware of when TWENTY was released..really don't understand your point..As for other good musicians out there, i'm also aware of that---being that i am one..

  • well you said people cant make music like this anymore and usually that would imply that the work you are refering to is older or not of the time that is in this case the present. i was just saying that since the album its self isnt that old(actually not even 5 years old) its kind of silly to say that music like this isnt made any more. and im impressed by how humble you are.

  • Lukie that was a cute comment

  • haha i try

  • speaks to my broken heart

  • what a freaken sweet tele. i want to know how to get one of those. its like metalic. its sweet.

  • This maybe the greatest break up song ever written... You have to live to truly feel it. And my God I truly do feel it.

  • The song was written by his keyboard player Jim Pugh..It's actually about his struggle to quit smoking!!--It really is --but there is double entendre working here---great tune...

  • thanks for the info, this band is really amazing, and their song are really deep!

  • Thanks, yeah I saw it when the full show aired orginally on PBS never missed L.O.J, I heard the story there. But to me it is the best break up song, bitter break up song. I don't smoke but I've regret a past relation, and this song fits how I felt.

  • Wonderfull Music!

  • I love this track - Great swing feel.

  • Smörgåsbord!!

  • cray you are an artist that paints pictures with music

  • Exactly! Wow you said it just right.I'm going now to see him at the Horse Shoe Casino in Indiana tonight for the first time, can't wait to get there!

  • You're gonna love it, he's even better in concert

  • črnuče do tokija

  • Vibrato, vrismato, i love his voice and he is a good singer, full of emotion, thats whats counting imo...

Hell yea, Robert for President :)

  • OH. MY. God! Beautiful. I listen to this song and it just gets better and better. I could write a book about how much i love this song. And jabphoria, i'm not gonna pick a fight, but I DO NOT AGREE.

  • This song is as strong on stage as it is on his record! Great, just great!

  • Seen him 4 times and he just keeps getting better and better.

    Robert Cray For President.

  • I wonder if I can give up smoking with this in my head.Robert Cray-as cool as ice,he could string a plank of wood with two rubber bands and he would still knock most people into a cocked hat.

  • whew!!! i'm in transe!!!

  • Beautiful, mindblowing. Those who don't understand jazz (jabphoria) cant appreciate this, but wow!I added this song to a playlist but never payed much attention. Now, i was walking around my house listening at 9 pm.. DAMN! He's wonderful

  • wow! he has a really strong vibrato in his voice. Great guitarist as well!

  • Does anyone have the chords of this beautiful song?

  • wao!

  • nice song very best

  • I like his vibrato!

  • it would be even better if his vibrato wast so wide on every fraze

  • On guitar or his voice. If you are referring to his vocals, well, that's Robert Cray. And if it's guitar, well,I don't here vibrato every phrase.

  • cant you hear....why do you need to ask...ofcourse on his voice..exaggerated vibrato

its just to wide..he needs to listen to George Benson

  • Robert Cray and George Benson are two different fish.Like comparing BB King to Muddy Waters.

  • ONE WORD .. AMAZING

  • Does anyone know what album this song is on? Is this an original or a cover?

  • Its on the album Twenty and I believe an original.

  • definitely an origional that was written by Jim Pugh --Roberts keyboard player..

  • good voice

  • robert cray is blues

  • addecriante

  • Cray could make a 2 string banjo sound fantastic..

  • With regards to the Fender/Gibson debate, Cray's guitar in this video is neither. It's a Trussart.

  • I agree, one of the best blues voice

  • Wow!

  • Play Dem Blues!!

  • I agre with Finchster...You are on wrong place hier. This isn't place for racist bastards..This man Cray is fabulous.

  • This Dude is smooth as silk! Love him. ~Tammi~

  • Robert Cray is one soulful motherfucka man. Keep on playin that shit bro cause it's talkin to me baby.

  • love the voice, so soft, touching

  • this isnt a place for a racist bastard.

  • yawn...i hate it when i get on youtube to watch some videos and people get into arguments about who's better than who....*yawn.....

  • Great playing as usual from Mr.Cray. As for Fender v Gibson, i've played them all, and if i've learned one thing it's this; A Fantastic player like mr.Cray will make ANY guitar sound Fabulous, and an average player like me will make any guitar sound average....Just enjoy this Priceless Jewel of a player.

  • Possibly the best statement ever written and posted on you tube to end the debate of which is better.

  • For me it just doesn't get any better than this.

Robert always plays enough, he never overplays and you never wish he would have played more.

I also think he has one of the greatest voices in music today.

This goes to the top of my favourites list.

  • definatly, robert cray is one of those players that seems to be a little under the radar, but he is by no means any less of a player. he falls into the elite when it comes to touch, i can honestly say, he rivals (and i hate using that term) some of the best. but his emotion and touch are what sets him off. this is guitar and heart, at its best.

  • I really like this song! Nice sound!

  • dawn righty chicken picker!!! with pride and joy: i saw Bob, he´s the master, belive me!!!

  • Fender has its place in the world... trust me my main guitar is an Ibanez.. second guitar a Fender... but Robert Cray is a MASTER..

    LIKE DIMEBAG

    AND SLASH

    AND STEVIE

  • well, i never sad anithing against r.cray, because he is an awsome musician, but fender still sucks, the neck is terrible, gibson necks are much better and the sound on fender strat or fender tele doesnt even compare with gibson or gretsch...(in my opinion)

  • I've played fenders and gibsons, from cheap to really expensive. what you like is your own business, they are both fine in their way, I've played some costly gibsons that did not impress, and cheap fenders that I liked, I dig the Gibson tone over Fender, but each is nice.

  • I love my tele neck... and I love my Les Paul.... it depends on what I am playing at the time...

  • in my opinion, that is the dumbest thing I've read today. Get out and play some decent Fenders :)

  • that is not a fender haha

    thats a trussert!

  • JAMES TRUSSART,CUSTOM GUITARS,STEELCASTERS.I want me one of those man.Sweet tone.

  • thanks.

  • amazing

  • That's a great song. Thought it had more emotion before I read that it was about smoking??? Who hasn't felt that way about a significant other....burn baby burn. haha This guy has the coolest voice and love the telecaster too. Great vid.

  • its a double-entendre...its about love and cigarettes...

  • lovely smooth voice.
