  • Erm... it's not actually on A Bell Is A Cup... is it? I thought it was on IBTABA?

  • Comment removed

  • @diskochimp It is. It was the follow up to Eardrum Buzz, also on the album.

  • Reminded me of New Order...in a good way...I'm a fan of this song.

A Bell Is A Cup Until It Is Struck!!!

  • LOVE his voice and what a babe!

  • Ahh Wire great band and New york city the greatest city in the world equals heaven. I love the Album Pink Flag and this song too

  • I wish someone had Follow the Locust on here. They were such a great and unique band!

  • @carpenoctem66 v=GCc5FFQDK3Q

  • @DadgeCity WOW! Thank you so much! I've never found it on youtube before now!

That has been one of my favorite songs for years.

  • @carpenoctem66 Me, too. My favorite song from "A Bell is a Cup..."

  • @carpenoctem66 That's my favorite song from "A Bell is a Cup..."

  • NYC needs a speakers corner. I would go.

  • Thank you.

  • This was my introduction to Wire. I was hooked!

  • recently bought the album and this is the most played i love it. cops a flogging in my car :) m49 sadly another forgotten 80s band:(

  • @mfactor88 I think there's a bit more to Wire than being a

'another forgotten 80s band'. They really made their name in the late seventies and are one of the most influential of all New Wave bands. I like Bruce's eyepatch in this...

  • @mookie2637 dont get me wrong i love this band, but like sadly so many of the bands of this time they are neglegted compared to the pistols or cure for example m49

  • Wonderfull!

  • Wire at their absolute best! God, I love this song!

  • Wire were and still are an amazing band

  • i'de post this on facebook but what the hell would they know about good tunes

  • Great Song! Great Band! Great Video! --Takes me back! Cheers! Thanks!

  • Wire are so impossibly good that it actually makes sense that they never took off like so many other sub-standard bands out there. People, for the most part, have to be told what to like and Wire fans tend to find their own way.

  • @randomeddie That's the way it is with a lot of good bands, The best music is made by people who love music for people who love music. There's a few exceptions but most people aren't really into music. If they were there would be great bands in the top 10 all the time.

  • @101Volts Reading my own comment three weeks later. That's what one would think, Right? The big corporations promote what sells so that's something to think about, Not only in negative ways but also in positive ways.

  • @julosx: it's not the 12'' version

@Biopharmer: the IBTABA-version is the better version ;-)

love this sound - it's amazing

  • @buzzkilla1 I don't think the IBTABA version is better. It doesn't have Colin's overdubs and it just doesn't seem to hold together as well as this 7 inch version. Just one opinion...

  • Just loving this :D

  • Is This version is a bit different from the IBTABA version? Is there anyway to get this version?

  • This week, I've downloaded the album on ITunes and this version was included (it's actually the 12" version).

  • This song brings me back to the San Francisco bay area 1990. It'll be nice to finally go back home there in the middle of next year.

  • I can't get enough of this... I've already played this video 5 times today... whoa long live the lovely indie 80's sound !

  • i'm pretty sure i honestly played this video 15 times in a row, i love wire!

  • this song makes me happy :)

  • only 23133 views :((

  • This band is so much better than New Order

  • Yeah, New Order went way too far into the dancey thing.

  • Will Clark, one time great 1B of the S.F. Giants at 2:38 --- love this song, always got a kick of this part of the vid "Will the Thrill"

  • Great song, shame it wasn't a bigger hit in the UK back in '89. It's very New Order in places, especially the end bit, which is no bad thing of course!...

  • post punk indie weirdness at its finest...

    love this tune!

  • LOL too true.

  • @kdehead

    this tune "revived" me :-)

  • One of wires best songs. Such a great and priceless band. Look and learn boys and girls.

  • It's totally not my fave Wire time, when they made this.

But this song caught me lately. So, tehy fixed me up anyway...just a little later. My weakness for this song though. It's a sunny happy day, yeah give this song to me. Ok, a couple of times.

  • I like this band at any stage-and I found them at Ideal Copy.

  • dit is een goed lied man|!!

  • There's something so reassuringly goofy about Colin Newman.

  • When the future elders declare art illegal, we will miss songs like this.

  • Along with "Ahead" and "Eardrum Buzz" this is among the best of the Wire Mk II period!

  • Great Wire

  • Is this mix on any available cd's does anyone know? The IBTABA mix is a bit too busy, would love to have this one on repeat in the csr when im stressed out :)

  • It's in the "A list" compilation CD

  • It might also be on the single, but that's rather hard to find now.

  • try on my blog

  • It's also on the 'Indie Top 20 Vol VIII' comp CD released back in 1990 (the 'A list' CD might be easier to find at this point, but either way...)

  • An absolute classic.

  • i fooking love this song, my favourite WIRE tune i think. And this is coming from a thrash metal jazz, contempory classical and Frank Zappa fan.

  • Astonishingly good

  • Wire/Wir is highly underrated and are mesmerizing live.

  • Arguably on of their best tracks...Seeing this brought back a lot of memories!

  • Gives me the chills. Love it.

  • that's weird...it's song 11 on my cd copy of ibtaba along with "the offer" which i love also

  • the lp version is a different mix

  • ... it is probably why some have the impression it is not on the LP...

  • haha! Im glad someone else noticed that this was not on IBTABA! - I thought I was crazy or something

this song is what made want to buy that album - and it wasnt on their!!

back in 89 I thought somehow that I had just mistaken that song for another one or something ..hmm

    interesting

This is an amazing song ,takes me back to the summer of '89

  • One of the spare messey guitar bands witch play better in the studio then live :)

  • Hah. Colin is a DEAD ringer for Joe Jackson in this vid. Tell me they don't look exactly alike.

  • Nice hat, Colin.

  • One of my all-time favorite bands. Brilliant song...

  • this'll be your actual pop genius, then.

  • Emo Disco Oi!

  • Great Band,Great Song,Great Video

  • better then the IBTABA version

  • Funny thing about the IBTABA version...I had the cassette and In Vivo was listed on the insert, but the song was left off the tape! This has bugged me for the past two decades.

  • yeah me too!! I returned the tape at the store, bec I thought it was a defect. Then I picked up another one and it was also left off.

    grrr...

  • Thanks Sham - had this on video years ago, but lost it. Not a patch on the 12" version of the song, but damned good nonetheless.

  • Never say this before, and this is one of my favorite songs. Thanks.

  • I LOVE WIRE 4 EVER

  • Ditto
