I downloaded this game and everything went fine but when i try to play it is really laggy! To the point where it takes me an hour to walk 100 yds. Any info on how to correct this problem would be appreciated.
@MrKie07 Actually, just to follow up on my last comment, the link in the description takes you to the official website and the download link they provide is slow as Hell. All you have to do is Google "The Hunter download" and you'll get tons of results. Softpedia is just one of many sites to download from. I'd recommend looking for a site/link other than the one on the official website, though, regardless which one it is.

You don't have to buy them you can hunt Mule Deer with the .243 for free.
You can even win enough EM$ (the game's form of money) through competitions to pay for your liscences or equipment. There is also an option to complete some online surveys and things like that to get free EM$.

@stcommet505 Yes the Black Bear in game will attack sometimes not always. You have to be careful when getting close or after they are wounded. The Moose in game can also attack and kill a player.

Honestly Cabela hunting games don't seem to get the greatest scores and from the look of the graphics that forest seemed incredibly realistic.. and hunting does take patience your not playing resident evil here.. of course i haven't tried it yet but i'm just using an open mind.

Also there is not a feeder. You can place a treestand or a groundblind wherever you like but you must Buy the Treestand or Groundblind or win enough EM$ (the games form of Cash) through competitions to purchase one.

The Hunter also has a forum with numerous people who can answer your questions PROPERLY.
@USMCG0811 Avalanche Studios owns the engine. Google "avalanche engine" and you'll find a wiki page and their studios page. The engine was used in Just Cause and Just Cause 2. The wiki page lists a few others that are in progress apparently.

@Miljonimees The forums are filled with guides on how to hunt properly so that you will see numerous animals. This game does require patience however, so do not expect to see animals everywhere. Running in-game scares every animal within a large radius of you away very quickly. See the forums for numerous guides. Also, the game has built in tutorials that will teach you the basics.

@Miljonimees Nice! The longer you play the better you will become, and the better your in-game character becomes too. You earn high skills as you play and this will help you track and shoot which is helpful. I can't say it enough though, go slow, be patient, LISTEN for calls from animals, use headphones if you have them, and have fun!

@dragon1111ist Your computer's hardware probably can't play the game at its current settings. Try lowering the graphics settings and seeing if that helps. If not, you'll either have to upgrade your computer or, in the case of owning a laptop, look into purchasing a new one.
@Chubzdoomer Thats Incorrect. for the most part Hp uses alot of diffrent brands but they use nvidia as a main graphics card, Pavilions a model of notebook(netbook) which in this case is weaker than a laptop, I highly recomend getting a desktop if your going to be a decent gamer, check out cyberpower if your going to upgrade they have some good shiz.
@TheBlockCop Sorry, but you are incorrect. HP uses all three of the main providers of GPU's: Intel, Nvidia, and ATI (AMD). The HP Pavilion line includes netbooks, but also includes typical home user laptops. Laptops can be gaming machines as well, but you will spend more money for the same performance a desktop would give you. Building your own desktop is the cheapest method. Cyberpower is ok, but still mildly overpriced because you are paying someone else to do your labor.

@loig76 This video was recorded on over four year old hardware. The game really isn't that demanding, especially compared to today's latest graphical powerhouses.
I just came to think of something. Does anyone know if, when purchasing something within the game, there are files added in some map somwhere (possibly the hunter map)? But if so what if they were uploaded as a .torrent file so when other people download it and put it in the right map they would technically also have the specific upgrades, weapons or whatever. without spending any money! Not sure if it would work, but could be worth trying? :P
@rapelpecho Nope, not on mine. And the PC running the game in this video was using 4-year old hardware. It's not a super demanding game at all. Most other graphically intense PC games like Crysis are far more demanding.
@TheTrollLp Try updating DirectX9 to the latest version. The Hunter uses DX9. If your PC can handle Crysis 2 at a good FPS, it should handle the Hunter at max settings. However, if your GPU is not setup properly, it could cause an issue with some games. The Hunter forum has a technical support section where you can post your issue and obtain help troubleshooting your issue.
Worst game ive ever played. The graphics are really good tho...but the only animal u can hunt is Mule deer...unless u want to spend some bucks on a new license! Disapointed!

I know it takes some internet to download the game from their website, but when the game starts (when you click on "start hunting") from then on does it take internet to play? The graphics in this game are amazing but when your in the map actually hunting does that take internet? or does it just run from the player's hard-drive from then on? I run this game on a 6 year old machine, and the only thing i ever updated was my GFX card too a Radeon 4760 1gb version - which you can pick up easily for around $40-50.
And i run this game on high gfx (dropped shadows) at 30fps easy.
This game is by far the BEST fucking game, hunting experience me and 3 friends on teamspeak have found for the past 3 years.

I have never been so taken away by an engine in all my life since crysis - the game play alone is incomparable to anything ive tried.
And ive managed to get 6 friends all to download and buy it now too, the thrill, excitement and adrenaline you can built just from a simple hunting session is incredible.
i thought this was the best free hunting game until i found out i couldnt fucking shoot the black tail deer and u have to pay for the license with real money and its only limited time. such a fucking shame
@BaronCleaver It's a Free2Play game and uses a Free2Play model. You can play for free, but some things do require a purchase. This model has been used now for quite some time in almost every F2P title out there.
@Chubzdoomer It was a time ago since i played it. As i remember it ran on like 300X400 and you could change it to something like 600X400 Honestly it was too much of a turn off. 1280X720 would be fine.

@loig76 This video was recorded on over four year old hardware. The game really isn't that demanding, especially compared to today's latest graphical powerhouses.
At the time of recording:
AMD X2 4800+ CPU
2 GB RAM

I just came to think of something. Does anyone know if, when purchasing something within the game, there are files added in some map somwhere (possibly the hunter map)? But if so what if they were uploaded as a .torrent file so when other people download it and put it in the right map they would technically also have the specific upgrades, weapons or whatever. without spending any money! Not sure if it would work, but could be worth trying? :P

@rapelpecho Nope, not on mine. And the PC running the game in this video was using 4-year old hardware. It's not a super demanding game at all. Most other graphically intense PC games like Crysis are far more demanding.

@TheTrollLp Try updating DirectX9 to the latest version. The Hunter uses DX9. If your PC can handle Crysis 2 at a good FPS, it should handle the Hunter at max settings. However, if your GPU is not setup properly, it could cause an issue with some games. The Hunter forum has a technical support section where you can post your issue and obtain help troubleshooting your issue.

(i know hunters don't aim at the head, so i shoot them in the chest :D)

I know it takes some internet to download the game from their website, but when the game starts (when you click on "start hunting") from then on does it take internet to play? The graphics in this game are amazing but when your in the map actually hunting does that take internet? or does it just run from the player's hard-drive from then on? Please answer because I only have 25GB of internet a month and I want to play this but I don't know if it takes internet when playing or not.

I run this game on a 6 year old machine, and the only thing i ever updated was my GFX card too a Radeon 4760 1gb version - which you can pick up easily for around $40-50.
And i run this game on high gfx (dropped shadows) at 30fps easy.
This game is by far the BEST fucking game, hunting experience me and 3 friends on teamspeak have found for the past 3 years.
Multiplayer is also in the works!

@obrobos I think any bundle is absolutely worth this game.
I have never been so taken away by an engine in all my life since crysis - the game play alone is incomparable to anything ive tried.
And ive managed to get 6 friends all to download and buy it now too, the thrill, excitement and adrenaline you can built just from a simple hunting session is incredible.
The graphics are even more breath taken
So yea, get it!

@BaronCleaver It's a Free2Play game and uses a Free2Play model. You can play for free, but some things do require a purchase. This model has been used now for quite some time in almost every F2P title out there.

@Chubzdoomer It was a time ago since i played it. As i remember it ran on like 300X400 and you could change it to something like 600X400 Honestly it was too much of a turn off. 1280X720 would be fine.
