I'd rather imagine it like that. You have two food stores:
- one of them is new, accessible and shiny, but the food in it looks superficial and disgusting.
- one of them is old, but has much better food, but the problem is there's an angry looking man with a big pit-bull at the door.
Most people would rather go to that new shop because they feel a lot safer about it. That doesn't make them stupid. Remember the community is the best thing about smash.
Many Brawl players bought Brawl and it was their first smash game. So they didn't really choose it over Melee. These people have no reason to be flamed. They just "haven't seen the light yet", in my opinion.
Instead of trolling and insulting them, you could just show them Shiz vs M2K at ROM1 r4 and you'll waste less time on useless debates and retarded flamefests.
And it's more Melee's gameplay which makes it progress more than Brawl, not the community. Brawl's community is doing fine.

I really don't understand the whole Melee vs Brawl thing. I love both games terribly. I used to never know about the Smash community when I had Melee and became part of it when Brawl came out thanks to the online exposure. I like the whole super Smash Bros. series, and I hate having to defend Brawl from Melee fans, it's such a pain.
Melee is broken. L-cancel and wave dashing are glitches/bugs that weren't really meant to be in the game.
Brawl is also broken, though not as badly. And that's me being generous.

The Melee community makes me giggle. I seriously can't believe people play this horrid game competitively. This game requires no execution or skill; just pick Marth, bait stupid people into running into your no-skill f-smashes and win. I have. I've played other fighting games that actually take skill, unlike this stupid game. It's not that this game CAN'T be played skillfully, it's just that all the pros I see are incredibly awful. They think that learning all of this tech skill shit will somehow make them better players, rofl, that's what amuses me the most. They'd get wrecked in a real fighting game like ST, a fighting game that actually takes skill and good execution, you fucking bastard.

I really don't understand the whole Melee vs Brawl thing. I love both games terribly. I used to never know about the Smash community when I had Melee and became part of it when Brawl came out thanks to the online exposure. That's how I got into competitive Melee too, Brawl exposed me to this whole side of Smash I never knew as a child. That's why it really hurts me when people in Melee say Brawl sucks or vice-versa.

I like the whole super Smash Bros. series, and I hate having to defend Brawl from Melee fans, it's such a pain.
Melee is broken. L-cancel and wave dashing are glitches/bugs that weren't really meant to be in the game.
Brawl is also broken, though not as badly. And that's me being generous.
Personal feelings aside, I think this video is bad. Not that it bashed Brawl, I could care less. It was just....no...I got more annoyed by this than Powerthirst at full volume.

Nothing against what you're saying, but lag cancelling was definitely programmed into the game. I mean, it's in 64, too. What do you want? And wavedashing is just jumping and immediately wavelanding (which is something the developers were aware of).

I know it won't get through that anti-melee head of yours, but wavedashing is an explot of the physics engine ...found out before the game was released by beta testers and then kept in since they wanted to see how it would be exploted. See Nintendo Power issue
L-Cancelling was listed as an advanced technique on the Japanese Smash Bros n64 site.
Also, Metaknight is more broken than anything of any smash game....though I do play brawl so don't see me as just a barlw basher

I'm not an "anti-melee" person, honestly, I still play melee and have fun playing it.
I just don't see the need to use exploits in a broken physics system as a necessary tactic.
I play Melee without wavedashing, not just because it's not easy for me to do, but I find it unnecessary.
I know L-canceling was in smash bros. I used it, but I didn't know it was listed as an advanced technique.
Nor did I know that the developers knew about wavedashing, so I thank you for that.

If chain grabs are a problem learn to master characters who aren't acceptable to it. Ness and Lucus are ONE of my many mains and if I see someone's not using marth or DDD I wont hesitate to jump for those two.

Anyways against a MK (your style at least) I'd pick Wolf (ANOTHER OF MY MAINS) and spam my Blaster.
Which if you didn't know cancels the tornado and damages MK, same for for his forward B as well.
For your up B I would......jump and use Blaster,and for your down smash smash, dodge and AAA (which works for everyone by the way )
..........or I'll just pick Marth and counter all day :)

i'm pretty good at brawl (it's hard not to be, the game is so damn easy) and i'm okay at melee. so how is it when my friend plays meta knight and i play snake he can spam tornado and i win? all he does is spam tornado but i'm not a noob so i can get past it and win. go find someone amazing at melee or streetfighter or brawl whatever and use 1 move over and over and win. if NO ONE can get around spamming, which you said then why don't people in tournaments spam?i want to know, i'd spam for prizes

So basically your problem is a lack of competition, thats what friend codes are for.
Web sites like Allisbrawl have live chat rooms so you can exchange codes in real time.
Its seriously not difficult at all, just enter a room join or request a 1vs1, 2v2, or even a 4v4s, exchange codes, and start.
Once you start facing real competition your view of the game WILL change.
